Downloadcode. The Wall of Sound by Zach Mathieu has its roots in the American post-hardcore and Emocore of the 1990s. With their harsh emotionality and intensity, the band evokes epigones such as Thrice and Hot Water Music as well as the early Jimmy Eat World and the alternative rock of the Foo Fighters. Even though "Highs & Lows" is the first work of the band, the four gentlemen are anything but new ones. With their predecessors, Carrie Anne and Palmcourtbeats, the musicians at the beginning of the 2000s have already accumulated ample stage experience, including a US West Coast tour. Zach Mathieu had already been on the road, with the New York postpunk combo The Noise, the quartet completed three tours to Germany and Switzerland. Zach Mathieu has devoted much time to her debut album. "Highs & Lows" was played live in the pavilion of Schrobenhausen under the direction of Achim Lindermeir (Emils Bulls, Claire, Van Holzen). The guest musicians included Maximilian Wörle (Adulescens) and Jon Landry and the Stanfields. The Puerto Hurraco Sisters not only use hard bop and soul jazz, but they also decimate it through all the styles of the Jamaican dance music, but also do not shrink from a Stevie Wonder cover. The Groove's main feature is a 60s dress - and that's what he does! On their almost 35-minute debut "Goin 'Out" the sisters present eight highly varied songs. Their new album „Heartbreaks & Milkshakes“ takes the band to the next level and sounds like a sugarhigh vision of 90s old-school pop-punk with witty tongue-in-cheek humor and a greasy yet stylish 50s vibe. Delivering 12 catchy and well-crafted pop-punk sing-a-longs about heartbreak, black-metal chicks and moving back in with your parents (again), The SEWER RATS are ready to hit the road worldwide in order to promote their new release which will be out on Rookie Records (Europe), Rude Runner (Japan) and t.b.a. (USA & Canada) in spring 2017. They must have been listening to a whole lot of METHADONES, LILLINGTONS and QUEERS while driving down those west-coast highways during the last couple of years. Thus it comes as no big surprise that all those tours in the warm California pop-punk-sun made their way into the sound of the band’s new material. In contrast to their last album „Wild at Heart“, which included mostly upright bass and a far more billyoriented sound, the band uses Rickenbacker electric bass and guitar on their third studio album „Heartbreaks & Milkshakes“, making it way punker and in-your-face. Even though in terms of style the band still sticks to their guns of slicked-back-Ness a lá Mike-1994 and vegan leatherjackets, their oldschool Vans are now both feet on skate decks. The 12 album tracks mostly clock-in way under 3 minutes, bursting with juvenile energy and catchy-ness. All in all the new record sounds very 90s and a lot like summer and kinda makes you wanna call up your friends to go skate and eat burritos, drink Tecate and maybe get tattooed afterwards. Battered Bones came out of the aptly named Absinthe Studios at the hands of Denver producer Robert Ferbrache (16 Horsepower, Woven Hand, Slim Cessna): smoothing Bates' raw appeal into and Brandy's Big Sky horizons into a gothic western. The rustic punk style on Battered Bones brings to mind a hard drive over dirt roads in a flat black '69 Charger. In other words western style and raw power that shakes the roots out of the woodwork. Starting as Annihilator's singer Bates & his razor-sharp Gretsch have chiseled out a career with a caravan of misfits, playing hundreds of shows every year across North America & Europe. He's been featured on Battlestar Galactica, on A&E Discovery, played for thousands at European festivals, had songs in countless movies and TV shows. After a quick 7" release Bates spent the past two years holed up and writing with Höfner Strings' Brandy Bones before they hit the road in 2012 with Indiana friends Murder by Death. Brandy's love for old-school country infects her voice inside her often bleak lyrics while the band harnesses a wall of sound in a style she has christened "Rustic Punk". Perfect for a band whose show is a spellbinding hour or sound wrapped in physical showmanship & slashed to ribbons.
