Soul Brother Records are delighted to release for Record Store Day 2017 one of the most elusive Soul LP's of all time, a truly Holy Grail album. Susan Phillips 'Soft Sexy Soul' was recorded for Sylvia Robinson's All Platinum label 1971, pressed in small quantities. Few copies have ever surfaced, it is so rare that many collectors doubt if it was ever released, it is not listed on Discogs and it has never been recorded as selling on EBay. If an original copy were found today, it would surely sell for a substantial amount of money. The album has that classic early 70's New Jersey Orchestrated Soul sound. The album contains the in demand 2-step single 'He Knows My Key (is always in the Mailbox)', the Northern Soul floater 'Answer To My Prayer', Detroit sounding 'Please Don't Keep Me Lonely' the multi paced 'Where Do I Go From Here' and many great ballads like 'He's Gone' and 'This I'll Guarantee'. Demand from Soul collectors is expected to be high and this album is likely to sell out quickly in the same way that last years 'This is Eleanore Mills' (also from All Platinum) and all the previous Soul Brother Records RSD releases have. The song he wrote about the scene 'Ding Walls ' is included, this being the first time that track has ever been released on Vinyl. It takes a very special singer to take a well known Beatles song and re-interpret it with a Big Band arrangement, and make it his own. Soul Brother Records are pleased to announce the first legal reissue of Wood Brass & Steel’s second album Hard & Heavy, re-mastered and pressed on a limited edition 180gm Vinyl. The album was originally issued on the Sugarhill label in 1980, and original copies exchange hands for up to £250. The club classic ‘Long Live Music’ was edited by Kon and appeared on a Kon & Amir compilation CD on BBE a few years ago, bringing it to a new audience. ’Fly With The Music’ is another up tempo disco funk club track. The album also contains some lovely mid tempo tracks like ‘Open Up Your Heart’ which receives regular airplay. ‘Superstar’ has been sampled twice in the last year, increasing awareness and demand for this extremely hard to find album. Having already issued Wood Brass & Steel’s superb debut album and their earlier non album 45 ‘Hey, What’s That You Say”, with the release of “Hard & Heavy” , all of Wood Brass & Steel’s music will have been re released on vinyl by the Soul Brother Records label in 2016. Hey, What's That You Say was recorded and released in 1973, three years ahead of the group's debut album but was not included. Original copies are rare and have exchanged hands for £50. The song was later covered by Brother To Brother. For this reissue we have changed the € b' side to Always There, making this rendition of the Ronnie Laws classic the group are best known for available on 7 for the first time. It's taken from the 1976 album Wood, Brass & Steel reissued on LP by Soul Brother Records Members of Wood, Brass & Steel include Doug Winbush who would later play with the Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash, Dayton and George Clinton alongside recording his own solo albums. Eleanore Mills is a classic Soul singer with a sweet and sophisticated voice, who recorded her debut album ‘This is Eleanore Mills’ for the Sylvia Robinson’s All Platinum subsidiary Astroscope in 1974. The album has a broad range of Soul and early Disco/Soul cuts. It did not sell in vast numbers on its initial release but has become heavily in demand in the last 20 years and appeals to a broad spectrum of Soul and Disco collectors and DJ’s.. Original copies are highly collectable and in mint condition now sell for around £300- £400. Eleanore went on to record with Norman Connors on his ‘This Is Your Life’ album in 1977 (recently issued on CD by Soul Brother) and then developed into singing Soulful house having a huge record with ‘Mr Right’ in the late 80’s. This special edition will also include a bonus 45 featuring two non album tracks recorded at the same time. The Bonus 45 includes the previously unreleased on vinyl ‘Something on your mind’ B/w ‘Singing the Blues’ which only appeared on an All Platinum compilation in 1976. Soul Brother Records are delighted to re-release ‘This is Eleanore Mills’ on vinyl for the first time since its original release for Record Store Day 2016 on a 180gm LP limited edition of 750. This release should prove very popular with Soul and Disco fans and DJ’s in the UK and around the world on Record Store day, and it is sure to become collectable in its own right in the future, in the same way that many of the previous Soul Brother Records label vinyl releases have become.
