An album from the estate: Reminiscent of the legendary musician and songwriter. "On A Distant Shore" is a posthumous release of the American singer, pianist, guitarist and songwriter Leon Russell, who died in 2016 at the age of 74 years. His trademark was, besides the smoky voice and nimble fingers, the long white beard and white hair. Russell's passion for gospel-inspired rock, blues, country, and jazz has thrilled over his five-year career. His songs are "Delta Lady", which he wrote for Joe Cocker in 1969, "Hummingbird", "Lady Blue" and "Tight Rope". His most famous play is "A Song For You" (1970), which was covered by the Carpenters, Ray Charles, Simply Red, Michael Bublé (Chris Botti) and Richie Sambora. As a member of Phil Spector's studio, Russell was involved in the hits of many stars of the 60s, including the Byrds ("Mr. Tambourine Man"), Gary Lewis & the Playboys and Herb Alpert. Also for Jerry Lee Lewis, B. B. King, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and the Rolling Stones made Russel recordings. For Elton John, he was a mentor. In 1971 Russell appeared on the George Harrison concert for Bangladesh. In 2011, he was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Hall of Fame for Songwriters.
