ATA Records is pleased to announce the release of Early Works: Funk, Soul & Afro Rarities From The Archive, a compilation of tracks that were recorded at the very outset of the label and haven't been available since the initial limited run (Released as Funk, Soul & Afro Rarities: An Introduction To ATA Records on Here and Now Recordings) sold out 5 years ago. Since 2013 label founders and musicians Neil Innes & Pete Williams have been tirelessly fulfilling their shared dream of making the records they weren't hearing. Having spent years working in various bands both players felt the desire to break free of the constraints of working within another band and started on the slow path to creative autonomy by starting to work on the 12 tracks presented on this compilation. While deliberating their next steps they were approached by Here & Now records who licensed the 12 tracks and released them under the title Funk, Soul & Afro Rarities: An Introduction To ATA Recordsin 2014 as a limited run of 300 copies that sold out within weeks of release. Now in 2020, celebrating their 5th year of running successfully as a label in their own right, ATA are re-releasing these 12 tracks on a new vinyl pressing under the title Early Works: Funk, Soul & Afro Rarities From The Archivewith new artwork and liner notes that detail the labels birth. Conrad Schnitzler (1937–2011), composer and concept artist, is one of the most important representatives of Germany's electronic music avant-garde. A student of Joseph Beuys, he founded Berlin's legendary Zodiak Free Arts Lab, a subculture club, in 1967/68, was a member of Tangerine Dream (together with Klaus Schulze and Edgar Froese) and Kluster (with Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius) and also released countless solo albums.There was a particular type of artist who could only have emerged in the legendary early 1970s. Few musicians fit the bill better than Konrad Schnitzler (later Conrad). Revolution, pop art and Fluxus created a climate which engendered unbridled artistic and social development. Radical utopias, excessive experimentation with drugs, ruthless (in a positive way) transgression of aesthetic frontiers were characteristic of the period. The magic words were "subculture", "progressivity" and "avant-gardism". West Berlin, with its unique political status, was a crucible of turbulence. Founded in 1968, the Zodiak Free Arts Lab was the ultimate point of convergence for subculture in West Berlin, with Konrad Schnitzler the driving force behind it. It was also here that Tangerine Dream and Kluster first met up to perform in public

Doubtlessly one of the most daring, interesting and multidimensional bands of today's black metal oeuvre, their constant striving for artistic freedom makes them an important part of the genre's future, never bound by rules or limits.? This summer SCHAMMASCH will extend their body of work by adding a new branch - the first in a line of shorter releases outside of the traditional "album-cycle" entitled "The Maldoror Chants", entirely based on "Les Chants de Maldoror"; one of 19th century's darkest and most fascinating literary works which should later become part of the foundation of the surrealist movement. Having been an important lyrical influence for SCHAMMASCH since their second album "Contradiction", they have now decided to give this inspiration the space it deserves and, on the other hand, to give themselves the artistic space it would require. "Hermaphrodite", as the first of these releases will be called, shows a different side to the band's artistic repertoire with focus upon spoken word and atmospheric soundscapes rather than the "song by song" formula.?A new approach to their visual aesthetic can be found here as well; the artwork design presents a hand drawn illustration by Mexican artist / surrealist Héctor Pineda, whilst the layout was completely handled by C.S.R's art project SAROS Collective, which is also responsible for the audio production.? REISSUE - SPLATTER VINYL SCHAMMASCH met in Basel in 2009. From the very beginning, the band never gave a thought to which genre they would fit into, but rather considered their current creative work to be more far-reaching and, first and foremost, more artistically significant than narrow genre boundaries. Moreover, the band's roots can be seen in future-oriented Black Metal, to which the band adds a razor-sharp mixture of dark atmospheric doom and hermetic mysticism. After a year of carefully honing their work, SCHAMMASCH released their debut album "Sic Lvceat Lvx" on a Swiss Black Metal underground label and presented their live shows alongside international extreme metal acts like JEX THOTH, TEMPLE OF BAAL, VORKREIST, EVOKEN and FORGOTTEN TOMB. Their ambitious debut collected much praise from many corners of the extreme metal music world. Legacy magazine in Germany wrote at the time " With a work of art like this, there is only one recommendation: Go and buy it, because you won't regret it.14/15" As the first Swiss band to be signed to Prosthetic, SCHAMMASCH now release their second work "Contradiction" as a double album. The album was recorded and produced by none other than V. Santura (ex-CELTIC FROST and TRIPKYTON guitarist). An extensive, epic work over 85 minutes long, with majestic artwork by the artist Valnoir of the Metastazis Studio in Paris. "Contradiction" is a truly impressive work of great importance, both for extreme music in 2014 and for the rich heritage of forward-looking Swiss metal in general.

The world of Scarlet’s Well was conceived in 1998 by Bid, the lead singer, guitarist, and main songwriter of The Monochrome Set, after they had disbanded for a second time. Between 1999 and 2010, Scarlet's Well released seven albums on Spanish-based Siesta Records. It was originally designed as a studio project, with a vague idea that a live band may follow. In the event, four albums were made where nearly all the instrumentation was performed by Bid, Orson Presence (keyboard player of the 90s Monochrome Set), and Toby Robinson (producer of most of the 90s Monochrome Set albums). Bid's voice took turns with an enchanting cast of young ladies, of whom only Alice Healey was a permanent member. Soon after the fourth album, a live band was formed, though without Orson Presence, who was now living in Canada. A slightly changing line-up then recorded three more albums, with live performances, before Scarlet’s Well disbanded in 2010. The third rebirth of The Monochrome Set then followed, and is still going

Will Saul, DJ/Producer and Aus Music label head primes the 150th release for the longstanding British label with a stellar cover of the 1990 seminal techno record of the same name by Yolanda on seminal label Underground Resistance. Sarmacja's sophomore album 'Jazda Polska' follows up on their 2018 debut on Astigmatic Records, 'Tutejsi' is being released by London-based label Byrd Out. Above all there is dub on it - however unorthodox - originally captured. Mystical flow, reckless charges and joyful songs - all without restraint and with uhlan fantasy. The spirit of a holy madman in the sarmatian version hovers over the record - the one who after a few glasses of vodka, covered with gasoline fragrance from the barbecue - once being moved, telling about the misery of the nation, and a moment after falling into ecstasy of stories about bravery in battles. Then in anger - when reminding himself how much the neighbour's diesel burns. Bottom line is simple - having fun, especially until dawn. And even if the stories of the holy madman are slightly slacked, even if at times the vibe gets gloomy, and the story isn't fully true - who cares? 'Jazda Polska' got even more colors thanks to the excellent features of Kacha Kowalczyk known from Coals and Muka. She appeared in two songs on the album - Doktor S?owo & Karaoke Dub.The Orb made a remix of Olimpijczyk to end the LP, commenting on Byrd Out's suggestion of doing a remix "Sounds weird enough", and The Orb's Oak Island Remix has a quintessentially Orb feel. The Oak Island reference is a nod to the Knights Templars link to the Money Pit on Oak Island, Nova Scotia. Sarmacja is Pawe? Bartnik, Micha? Ko?owacik and (now also) Aleksandra Szali?ska aka. FLicker Fox, musicians operating at the forefront of the Polish experimental scene!

Sankt Otten do not disappoint. Founded in 1999, the duo from Osnabrück releases since 2009 on Denovali. With their 11th release, they give us a gem of timeless instrumental music. The holy trinity of krautrock, ambient and contemporary electronica, but always sophisticated and unique Sankt Otten. The mastering of the album was made by New York-based Rafael Anton Irisarri. Also the cover layout shows their great taste once again. This outstanding punch artwork was created by graphic designer Daniel Castrejón.
