Atmophile Electronics, a new Berlin based label focusses on atmospheric side of techno, launches with a compilation called Fundamentum. Made up by eight tracks on double-vinyl, Fundamentum brings together the most contemporary techno-talents like Matrixmann, Takaaki Itoh, Polar Intertia, Sofus Forsberg, Mike Parker, Alderson Disk, Ankurbln, and Naty Seres. All tracks are EXCLUSIVE to this release. The first dronish intro track is from the two label founders Naty Seres and Ankurbln: rough in the sound, it's slowly building up to mellow harmonies;
followed by a suiting and melodic drifting song of Sofus Forsberg who is looking back to decades and multiple albums of IDM music creations. The B side of the first record is starting with Polar Inertia a track that displays what the French producers are known for: an extremely detailed arrangement and their trademark, unique sound design. Next is a solo track by Ankurbln. Both experimental and spacious, it shows a slight tendency towards house and minimal music in the sound image, but keeping atmospheric weirdness at heart. The 2nd record of this double LP is opened by no other than Matrixxman, with a groovy beat full of harmonic spaces, showing the versatility that he is known for. Takaaki Itoh is following with a track that focuses on groove and danceability without loosing the connection to trippiness. Coming to the D side of the release the listener gets pulled into the heavily modulated drones and powerful kicks of the techno legend Mike Parker, doing what he does best. The closing track is from Alderson Disk, a Berlin based producer who has a long history of West-Coast bass music production with another alias, presenting a refreshing blend of techno and bass music vibes, full of groove changes and curious drum patterns

In the United States, the album debuted at No. 25 on the Billboard 200 albums chart on its release. Andy played Nick You What! and he asked if he could lay a drum track down and at around the same time Carl offered his services on the record also. Nick went on to drum on the entire album and produce the recordings too. At the tail end of 2011, when Freestyle Records A&R man Greg Boramans' compilation 'Sounds From The Soul Underground' was released the glorious noise of The Andy Tolman Cartel first came to public attention. MLP - 200 copies on black vinyl. Starting out as a recording project between Angus Lord, Claudia Serfaty and Stephanie Hughes, the germ of what would eventually become the Stroppies was formed around a kitchen table in Melbourne in early 2016. The initial idea was to create open ended music, collaged quickly and haphazardly together on a Tascam 4 track Portastudio that drew on stream of consciousness creativity and a DIY attitude. The desire to move beyond the pre programmed drum patterns available on their Casio Keyboard led to the addition of Rory Heane on drums and a more conventional band dynamic. In Late 2016, Alex Macfarlane recorded the band in their lounge room direct to 4 track, capturing 7 songs that would become their 2017 self titled cassette tape debut. The songs were bounced back and forth from tape machine to computer to tape machine to computer again. In keeping with the bands initial aesthetic, dubs were laid over a 4 month period incrementally on different devices. They make modest, idiosyncratic pop songs that reward with repeated listening.

I’m not entirely sure how long Spectral Haze‘s Turning Electric has been in the works, or if the band even deigns to recognize the linear motion of our space-time continuum, but it seems like it might be a while. In 2015, the Oslo, Norway, heavy psych/space rockers posted a notice about new t-shirts coming soon and said “prepare to turn electric” as a part of that, so at very least they’ve been sitting on the title for some time. They signed to France-based imprint Totem Cat Records at the end of last year and said at that point that the record would be out in May, so its current Oct. 20 release date is the end result of some delay as well — reportedly owing to the usual concerns of pressing vinyl. What matters, of course, is that the album is coming out. Then a five-piece and apparently having some fluidity of lineup anyhow, Spectral Haze made their debut in late 2014 with I.E.V.: Transmutated Nebula Remains (review here) via Soulseller Records, which followed a self-titled 2012 demo EP that you can still hear on their Bandcamp. Speaking of audio, the now-foursome are giving a first taste of what’s to come on Turning Electric by means of streaming the title-track, which is only 3:42 long, but still gives a sense of the cosmic thrust they’re working with anyhow, as excellently complemented by the gorgeous Adam Burke cover art that’s also newly unveiled. A spell at Count Ossie's camp in Wareika Hills introduced him to the Rasta faith and a new approach to music, which he later introduced to his studio work. In 1961, he emigrated to London, where he became a regular on growing the UK West Indian music scene, cutting numerous sides for every Jamaican music maker of note, including Trojan's in-house producer, Robert Thompson aka Dandy. Dandy duly paired the trombonist with Britain leading reggae group, The Rudies, with the collaboration spawning an array of singles and the immensely popular album, Blow Your Horn, released by Trojan late in 1969. After Eskimo was released The Residents responded to the furor of fuss and praise it generated by taking various bits out of the album and re-working them to a disco parody of the original, this created Diskomo. The Residents had long planned to produce a children's record -- of sorts. Goosebump is a collection of Mother Goose rhymes set to music with all of the "original sinister overtones" left in place. They teamed up with their longtime collaborator Snakefinger and recorded the songs using only musical instruments. Although children's toys were used to produce the music, The Residents' grown-up toys were used afterwards in the mixing of the recording. We are proud to bring you the expanded edition of the Diskomo / Goosebump E.P. ! This 'new' version has no less than 3 bonus tracks: "Diskomo 1992", "Diskomo 2000" abd "Twinkle 2000". Front sleeve notes "Special 12" - 45rpm Disco record - Based on the LP Eskimo - Disco will never die!. The Drawing on the back sleeve was done by Jad Fair of Half Japanese.
