The process of this record started very exciting: Despite the fact that predecessor "Tomorrow Come Today" wasn't the expected commercial break through there seemed to be interest and enthusiasm from Wind Up Records - a semi major label that Boysetsfire were signed to at the time. The band made lists of producers they would like to work with and studio time was booked. And than the whole thing fell apart. A sad and depressing truth unfolded: "Complete creative control" means absolutly NOTHING if the record company is not giving you the green light to enter a studio and cover the massive costs of producing a full length album. The label just didn't hear "the hit" which is still absolutly puzzling given the fact that they had (now) fan favorites like "Empire" or "Requiem" presented to them. "The misery index: notes from the plague years" will be available on vinyl through the bands very own End Hits Records for the very first time.

With a new record, their own label and new shows - the departure from the past, coupled with a fervent inner drive, makes the band's new album "While A Nation Sleeps." (June 7, 2013) perhaps the most important hardcore release of the year. Boysetsfire has been a driving force in the hardcore scene since 1994, achieving the fine balance between furious old-school hardcore and melodic punk rock hooks like no other band to date. Nathan Gray is an often-disputed frontman, but also a unique spearhead whose charismatic presence has stamped a unique mark on Boysetsfire for over two decades. From humble beginnings playing basement shows in squats to supporting Metallica and playing at the world's largest festivals (Rock Am Ring, Lollapalooza, Warped Tour, Leeds/Reading, Hurricane), Boysetsfire has become an institution in the hardcore scene and one of the most hard-working bands in the industry, with over 1,000 shows under their belt and 200,000 albums sold worldwide. "While A Nation Sleeps..." will be released in June 2013 and represents one step back for the band as well as two steps forward. In January 2013, Boysetsfire began recording "While A Nation Sleeps." which was produced by guitarist Chad Istvan in his own studio. Only the band members themselves or close friends were given access to the recording sessions. The album was then mixed by Lou Giordano, someone with vast experience in bringing together the angular guitar sounds of bands such as Hüsker Dü or Sunny Day Real Estate. Boysetsfire also decided to return to familiar ground with the album's release too. Together with long-time friend of the band and tour manager Oise, the band founded the label End Hits Records to provide a platform for Boysetsfire's own output in Europe. Black vinyl edition! BoySetsFire has been a band for nearly two decades. In that time we have played hundreds of shows to anyone that would watch us, from basements to festival audiences. We lived through the terror of rap‐rock, the tyranny of nu‐metal, and the dark days of pop‐punk. We were around before the internet. Truth. We made demo tapes. We have recorded 4 LPs, EPs, CDs, and even a Cassingle. We have played Rookie over 1,000 times. We have fallen off more stages than most people have stood on. We have been signed and dropped and signed and dropped. Frankly, most would have given up years ago. We tried. Like the most well‐meaning addict we swore it off, made our amends, and tried to rebuild our lives without BoySetsFire. But the lure was too much. We soon found ourselves in the same situations making the same decisions that lead to so much pain. Before we knew it we were on a reunion tour. It was amazing. Then we held our breath, crossed our fingers and started writing songs. What came out was music that was even more intense, more fragile, and more brutal than anything we had done before. Even though to my disappointment there was almost no dubstep. In fact, the writing was so rewarding we decided to keep on writing... and writing... and writing. So we have a brand new member (Dan Pelic), an old member coming back (Robert Ehrenbrand), a long‐time friend officially joining (Rev.
