Signed to Kent based Engineer records, this band are hopefully starting their journey into a rewarding professional music career. Not to be confused with American band “The After Party” (yeah I know!). They sit somewhere between indie-pop and rock, with a sound that draws influences from American indie bands and Brit rock. Back in my 80’s music journalism days, I interviewed a band called “It bites” who’d just had a massive hit with “Calling all the heroes” and a superb album called “The big lad in the windmill”. There are strong similarities here – mainly due to the guitar and vocal production (although the Afterparty have a slightly harder sound), but it really took me back (sighs nostalgically) and as a result I enjoyed the journey that these four tracks took me on. This is an excellent collection of tracks from a band that with the right management, could do very nicely for themselves. I wonder if the overall sound is unique enough to single the band out from the crowd, but the fan base for this genre is huge, so that needn’t necessarily restrict their success. Just depends whether these guys are happy to follow the crowd or really want to make their mark with something different. Record Label: Engineer Records Style: Indie Rock
