Although Eero Raittinen was mostly known as a pop singer in the 1960s and then rose to brief international fame as the lead vocalist of Tasavallan Presidentti, his 1970 solo outing is a more down to earth affair. Recorded with a superstar lineup (Jukka Tolonen, Paroni Paakkunainen, Vesa Aaltonen, Eero Koivistoinen...), Eeron Elpee was a more personal thing for Raittinen. Owing a lot to the British R&B movement of the sixties, Eeron Elpee moves smoothly between more standard blues and moody jazz arrangements. Commercially the album was a failure, as people wanted pop hits from Raittinen. But as a cult item the album's worth has only grown during the past five decades, and Svart Records are happy to bring it back on vinyl.
