Having previously been available on vinyl only in the USA, the Euro version comes as an expanded gatefold double LP set. It features not only the album cut on three LP sides for maximum fidelity but also a 12 page booklet with lyrics and extra material, and bonus tracks "A Power Greater" and "Bloodhound", which have previously been available in digital online format only. Profound Lores latest addition to its doom metal roster, Witch Mountain, are the oldest doom metal band from the Pacific Northwest (bands such as Yob and Agalloch have even opened for them in the past). Earlier this year, Profound Lore re-issued the acclaimed South Of Salem on CD format (the first time the album was released on CD format) in a limited amount. Cauldron Of The Wild is easily the best material that Witch Mountain have put out in their 15 year career and is definitely a step forward from South Of Salem, which saw critical acclaim in 2011 from such notable outlets as NPR and Decibel magazine. Witch Mountain was formed in Portland, OR in 1997 by Rob Wrong (Iommi Stubbs, ex-M99) and Nathan Carson (Point Line Plane, Two Ton Boa, Sunn0))) collaborator, etc). By 2000, the groundwork had been laid, the demo Homegrown Doom remastered and released in Europe, and Dave Hoopaugh was brought in to be the final bass player. Their debut album Come The Mountain was released to critical acclaim in 2001. The first printing sold out in two months, and an expanded edition was released with bonus tracks composed for the unreleased PC/Dreamcast video game "Shrapnel".
