Swans continue their remastered reissues series with the release of White Light from the Mouth of Infinity and Love of Life on Dec. 4 2015. White Light from the Mouth of Infinity, Swans’ seventh studio album originally released in 1991, is considered the starting point for the second section of Swans’ inimitable history. Described as “…the glistening, glimmering sounds of the pensive countryside” by Stereogum, this will be the first time White Light from the Mouth of Infinity has been available on vinyl since its original release on Young God Records in 1991. Love of Life, the band’s eighth studio album, followed soon after in 1992. Formed in 1996, shortly after relocating from St. Louis to the DUMBO section of Brooklyn, the members immersed themselves in their music - living together in a dingy, windowless basement - constantly rehearsing and recording. Those recordings - which combined the aggression of punk, the rhythm and texture of kraut rock, and the ambience of early 80's experimental noise (This Heat, Throbbing Gristle) - sound as fresh and relevant today. The bands two official albums were collected on the 2002 release The Life and Times of Laddio Bolocko, but everything on this collection is previously unheard. Culled from a suitcase full of tapes and edited by guitarist Drew St. Ivany, it showcases the intense, productive lifespan of this short-lived band. He worked and toured worldwide with various artists including Oddisee, C2C, Onra and Bibio, Hudson Mohawke as such as other producers from the Warp Records family. Despite all of this, Olivier felt something was missing...A true reflection of his own voice and sound.??A hiatus from feature recordings and some deep introspection found Olivier discovering his love for blues, rock and funk. Many late night guitar sessions resulted in new soundscapes. A new chapter was opening. The former 'Daysoul' moniker exchanged for his original birth name 'St.Louis'. Producing and writing all his own music and playing his own instrumentation; Olivier St.louis was embarking on a new road. The Black Music EP coming out on Jakarta Records gives listeners both old and new a taste of Olivier's true music palate.
