This 3 CD, 53 track ultimate collection focuses on the band’s output whilst signed to Elektra Records.
Spanning the years 1986 to 1990, the band released three studio albums and various singles that feature on this collection plus the related bonus tracks taken from the band’s b-sides and 12” releases. It is the definitive collection of the band’s material available.
CD 1 features the ten original album tracks of the band’s first studio album “Georgia Satellites” that was released in 1986. It was produced by Jeff Glixman. There are eight bonus tracks including two mixes, Party Mix and Kick ‘N’ Lick Remix of the single ‘Battleship Chains’, five live tracks including the band’s cover of Lou Reed’s ‘I’m Waiting For The Man’, which featured as a b-side on the band’s best known single ‘Keep Your Hands To Yourself’.
CD 2 focuses on the band’s second album, “Open All Night”, with the 11 original album tracks plus six related bonus tracks. The bonus material includes the remix of their single, 'Sheila' along with live recordings of 'Let It Rock', 'Battleship Chains' and 'Railroad Steel'."
CD 3 is the band’s final Elektra album, “In The Land Of Salvation And Sin” from 1989. The album was produced by Joe Hardy. This CD features the 14 original album tracks plus five bonus offerings including the b-sides ‘Saddle Up’ and ‘That Woman’, the US promo edit versions of ‘Shake That Thing’ and ‘All Over But The Cryin’’ and the UK single version of ‘Another Chance’.
This release has been made with the full cooperation of the band.
This comes in capacity wallet packaging with each CD housed in a card wallet featuring the original album artwork of the featured disc. This in turn is housed within an outer sleeve along with a CD booklet.
There are extensive sleeve notes contributions by each of the original band members - Dan Baird, Mauro Magellan, Rick Price and Rick Richards - plus a UK discography. The band also supplied photos from their own collections for inclusion within the CD booklet.
13 tracks appear on CD for the first time in the UK.
Georgia Satellites hail from Atlanta, Georgia. In 1986 they signed to Elektra Records and set about recording their first album with Jeff Glixman. The band’s first single, ‘Keep Your Hands To Yourself’ stormed the US charts, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The band recorded a total of three studio albums for Elektra before Dan Baird left to pursue a solo career. The band continued with numerous changes of personnel but their musical legacy lives on with live performances across the US.

In 1973, Fancy came together around producer Mike Hurst – alongside guitarist Ray Fenwick and bassist Mo Foster – to record a glam rock cover version of The Troggs’ hit ‘Wild Thing’. Issued on Atlantic, the single was a U.S. hit, peaking at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 (it also reached #31 in Australia). Prompted by the success, a touring band was assembled with new singer Annie Kavanagh. And an album, Wild Thing, yielded a second American hit, ‘Touch Me’. In summer 1974, Fancy signed to Arista, and embarked on a U.S. tour, supporting Kiss, Wishbone Ash and Steppenwolf (in early 1975, they also supported 10cc at the Hammersmith Odeon). The new deal led to a second album Something To Remember (re-titled Turns You On in the States), promoted by two singles, ‘She's Ridin' The Rock Machine’ and a cover of Steve Wonder’s ‘I Was Made To Love Her’. In late 1975, Fancy bowed out with a non-album single, ‘Music Maker’. With input from original band members, this welcome triple-CD set offers up all of Fancy’s studio recordings – both albums plus non-LP tracks – plus a previously unheard live recording from legendary jazz club Ronnie Scott’s. As a bonus, Disc 3 closes with a fascinating US radio interview. Also included are two brand new tracks, Ray Fenwick’s ‘Sidewinder’ and Mo Foster’s ‘Driving Home’.

A new 5 Disc boxed set anthology (5CDs / 1 DVD) celebrating the recordings of Scottish rock giants Big Country, made between 1993 and 1994 for Chrysalis Records imprint Compulsion Featuring 71 tracks on five discs, including the albums ‘The Buffalo Skinners’ and the double live album ‘Without The Aid Of A Safety Net’, recorded at Barrowlands Ballroom in Glasgow on 29 December 1993. Includes rare B-Sides / bonus tracks, US radio mixes, previously unreleased instrumental demos, plus the original demo for every track on ‘The Buffalo Skinners’ album. DVD includes highlights from the Glasgow Barrowlands concert, together with promo videos for the singles ‘Ships’ and ‘Alone’ Cherry Red Records are pleased to announce the release of “Out Beyond The River: The Complete Compulsion Recordings”, a newly remastered six disc boxed set featuring the original classic line-up of Scottish rock giants Big Country, fronted by the late Stuart Adamson. The Eighties had seen Big Country rack up four consecutive UK Top 10 albums and 12 UK Top 40 singles. “The Crossing”, their 1983 debut album, had spent 80 weeks on the charts and cracked the Top 20 in the US, while their second album, “Steeltown”, had gone straight in at No. 1. And the Nineties had got off to a good start too: their greatest hits collection “Through A Big Country” entered the chart at No. 2, and was only kept from the top spot by another best of, The Carpenters’ “Only Yesterday”. Despite all this success, a difference of opinion with their label meant all was not well in the Big Country camp. However Big Country had a friend and ally in Chris Briggs, the man who had originally signed them ten years earlier. Following huge success with Robbie Williams, in 1992 EMI gave Briggs his own imprint, Compulsion Records. In a press release to announce Big Country as his ‘new’ signing he said, “I went to see the band on the last tour, and thought they were better now than then (when I first signed them)”. ‘The Buffalo Skinners’ restored Big Country to the Top 40, peaking at No. 25 on the album chart. In a review for Q magazine an ambivalent 3-star review from Johnny Black ended, “It couldn’t be anyone other than Big Country and, if Adamson can maintain this level of quality control in the songs, his band may rise again.” Neil McKay of Sunday Life described the album as "rousing and tuneful as in (Big Country's) early heyday". In 2004 Ian Cranna writing in Record Collector described “Without A Safety Net” as “Big Country at their best. Honest, thoughtful Rock, played with passion and a conscious avoidance of frills or poses.” A description that best sums up this band.

SoulMusic Records is proud to present a first-of-its-kind compilation of recordings by renowned singer/songwriter Barbara Lewis spanning her six years with Atlantic Records (1962-1968) and her brief one-year tenure with Reprise Records (1972). Known the world over in particular for her timeless classics, ‘Hello Stranger’ and ‘Baby, I’m Yours’, the Michigan-born chanteuse’s distinctive brand of sweet soul brought her much acclaim in the mid-60s, resulting in a total of five Atlantic albums. This beautifully-packaged collection, sequenced in chronological order of recording session, includes the first CD release of a number of tracks from both the 1964 LP “SNAP YOUR FINGERS (BARBARA LEWIS SINGS THE GREAT SOUL TUNES)” and the 1966 album, “IT’S MAGIC”. With a total of (68) tracks, including seven non-album singles/B-sides, one previously unreleased cut from 1968 and both sides of Barbara’s sole Reprise single, “Don’t Forget About Me” features an extensive essay by renowned UK writer Charles Waring with quotes from a rare 2020 interview with Barbara specifically for this box set and comments by Billy Vera and Sharon McMahan, two songwriters who penned respectively ‘Make Me Belong To You’ and ‘Someday We’re Gonna Love Again’. Superb artwork by Roger Williams and great remastering by Nick Robbins, this stellar reissue, produced by SoulMusic.com founder David Nathan, includes recording session dates, location and personnel (if known). Disc One begins with Barbara’s first of many sessions produced by Detroit music entrepreneur Ollie McLaughlin, initially a single released on his Karen label before Atlantic Records took over distribution of the 45 and subsequently all of Barbara’s recordings until 1968. Recorded at Chess Records’ studios in Chicago with background vocals supplied by hit-making group The Dells, Barbara’s self-penned ‘Hello Stranger’ became a US R&B chart topper and Top 5 pop hit in 1963 paving the way to her first full LP of the same name. Working with famed arranger/conductor Riley Hampton, Barbara’s sophomore set “Snap Your Fingers” features her covers of thirteen hits by male artists such as Ray Charles, Chuck Jackson, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke and Jimmy Reed among others and is included in its entirety here. Disc Two finds Barbara switching recording location to New York and working with top arrangers such as Teacho Wiltshire, Artie Butler and Jimmy Wisner in a variety of different settings from the pop/soul flavour of tracks like Van McCoy’s ‘Baby, I’m Yours’ (under the direction of Bert Berns), one of Barbara’s most successful and memorable hits which became the title track for her third LP to a set of ‘60s tunes (including ‘Yesterday’, ‘Let It Me Be’ and ‘The Shadow Of Your Smile’) and jazz and pop standards such as ‘Since I Fell For You’ and ‘It’s Magic’, the latter the title for Barbara’s fourth LP. Disc Three completes Barbara’s association with Atlantic Records and includes key cuts included on her 1968 swansong LP for the label, “WORKIN’ ON A GROOVY THING,” the title cut co-written by Neil Sedaka; her last two Atlantic hit singles 1965’s ‘Make Me Your Baby’ and 1966’s ‘Make Me Belong To You’; the UK Northern soul-scene long-time favourite, ‘I Remember The Feeling’; and one previously unissued track, ‘You Put A Song In My Heart’ from Barbara’s one-off 1967 recording date with producers Lou Courtney & Bob Bateman that also yielded the popular ‘Thankful For What I Got’. After cutting one LP for the Stax/Enterprise label in 1970, Barbara signed with Reprise Records in 1972 and included here are both sides of the lone single recorded in Muscle Shoals, ‘Rock And Roll Lullaby’ (penned by Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil) and ‘I’m So Thankful’.

'The Magnificent Moodies' is the 1965 debut album by The Moody Blues first released in the UK and the first and only album featuring their R&B lineup of guitarist Denny Laine, bassist Clint Warwick, keyboardist Mike Pinder, flute player–percussionist Ray Thomas, and drummer Graeme Edge. The album is a collection of R&B and Merseybeat type songs, including the cover of 'Go Now', produced by Alex Wharton, that had been a Number 1 hit single earlier that year. For the US release (under the title 'Go Now – The Moody Blues #1'), four songs were replaced and the tracks were repositioned.
At the height of The Moody Blues' US success in 1970, Deram Records reissued the US version of the album with a new cover and title, 'In The Beginning' (Deram DES-18051). As with the original album, this reissue did not chart.

The Fall were an English post-punk band, formed in Manchester in 1976. The band existed until 2018 and was essentially built around its founder and only constant member Mark E. Smith. Initially associated with the punk movement of the late 1970s, the group's music went through several stylistic changes over the years, but is often characterised by an abrasive guitar-driven sound and frequent use of repetition, and is always underpinned by Smith's distinctive vocals and often cryptic lyrics. The band is noted for its prolific output and released 31 studio albums (more than triple that counting live albums and other releases). They never achieved widespread public success beyond a handful of minor hit singles in the late 1980s, but maintained a strong cult following. The band were long associated with BBC disc jockey John Peel, who championed them from early on in their career and cited The Fall as his favourite band, famously explaining, "They are always different; they are always the same." Imperial Wax Solvent was the group’s 26th album, originally released in 2008. Following the departure of the American musicians who contributed to Reformation Post-TLC, the new British based line-up was to become the band’s last and longest serving incarnation. Alongside Mark E. Smith was Elena Poulou (keyboards, vocals), Dave Spurr (bass), Pete Greenway (guitar) and Keiron Melling (drums). It was well received by critics and entered the UK Album Charts at #35. This re-issue of the 2008 album comes with two bonus discs, including an unused version of the album recorded at Britannia Row studios in London and a live set recorded at De La Warr, Bexhill On Sea from 10th May 2008. This release is a comprehensive 3 CD set of the 1981 Scars album, “Author! Author!” plus related bonus tracks. It is the definitive collection of the band’s material. Scars released four singles and one album plus appearances on a couple of compilation albums. This collection features versions of the album tracks, single versions, b-sides, demos and live tracks. CD One features the ten original album tracks of the band’s only studio album “Author! Author!”. It was released on vinyl in 1981 and was critically acclaimed by the music press. There are eight bonus tracks including the singles ‘They Came And Took Her’, ‘Love Song’ and ‘All About You’ and their b-sides – ‘Romance By Mail’, ‘Psychomodo’ and ‘Author! Author!’ Also featured are the tracks ‘She’s Alive’ and the band’s version of David Essex’s ‘Silver Dream Machine’ that both appeared on the 1981 cassette version of “Author! Author!”, and on the 2007 CD release. CD Two focuses on seventeen tracks from the band’s own archives of their original demos including the album tracks ‘Your Attention Please’, ‘Aquarama’, ‘Fear Of The Dark’, ‘Leave Me In Autumn’, ‘Everywhere I Go’ and ‘Obsessions’. Other highlights are their renditions of Mick Ronson’s ‘Billy Porter’ and Jacques Brel’s ‘Next’. CD Three features twenty two tracks of Scars performing live from six gigs spanning the years 1978 – 1981 starting with two tracks from their gig at The White Hart Inn, Edinburgh and concluding with 11 tracks from their 1981 performance in Groningen in the Netherlands. The Edinburgh band released their first 7” single ‘Adult/ery’ / ‘Horrorshow’ in 1979 on the independent label Fast Product . The band then signed to Pre Records, a sub label of Charisma Records releasing three singles and one album, “Author! Author!”. They were leading lights of the post punk movement north of the border. It was a short lived spell but one with a lasting musical legacy. Disclaimer - We always produce our CD's with the best available master sources. In this instance we have used the best available recordings from the band's archives. During the mastering process, much time has been spent trying to produce the best possible audio results. However the recordings from CDs 2 and 3 date back 40 years plus and reflects the raw energy and sound of the time

This 3-CD SoulMusic Records’ set celebrates the recordings that Solomon Burke made for the legendary Atlantic Records label between 1960 and 1968. Solomon is generally acknowledged as one of the greatest soul singers to emerge during the genre’s golden days. He signed to Atlantic before ‘soul music’ became a bona fide sub-genre of African-American music and it was Solomon who helped define this new movement and he was, in fact, one of the first artists to use ‘soul’ to describe his music. He would eventually be known the world over as ‘The King of Rock and Soul’. His Atlantic recordings are presented in chronological order of recording across the three discs and each session is identified by date, location and all the musicians present are identified (where known).
