New 2020 Oxblood/Pink Galaxy Vinyl! 2 bands from very different cultural origins, Japan and Germany... yet spiritually akin and connected by many similarities: a cinematic approach to music, based on lengthy, escalating compositions... the fact that both bands have existed for more than 15 years and released multiple albums since their inception; that they have toured many times around the globe, visiting off-the-beaten-track territories like Siberia, New Zealand, South East Asia and South America; and finally their shared passion for double albums, such as THE OCEAN's "Heliocentric", "Anthropocentric", and MONO's "The Last Dawn"/"Rays Of Darkness". It only makes sense that these two bands will now tour together - and release new music just in time for their extended European run, in form of a split LP. Two songs, only one by each band - but 24 minutes of new music altogether. THE OCEAN's contribution, a 13 minutes song entitled The Quiet Observer, was inspired by Gaspard Noe's controversial movie Enter The Void. The movie tells the story of a drug dealer getting shot in a Tokyo toilet while tripping on DMT, and entering what is referred to as the, intermediate state" according to the Bardo Thodol, the Tibetan Book Of The Dead: the book, which has been a source of inspiration for many writers, artists and musicians from John Lennon to Aldous Huxley, describes a state immediately after a person's death, when the intellect of the dead person must face its own illusions, in the form of peaceful and wrathful deities, in a protracted psychedelic experience. Only if it manages to expose these horrifying guises as products of its own imagination, can it escape the eternal cycle of rebirth, and eventually enter nirvana. MONO, who have toured relentlessly since the release of 2014's double release The Last Dawn / Rays Of Darkness, address similar topics with their contribution, an 11-minutes song entitled Death in Reverse. The song serves as a trailer for the upcoming 9th MONO album, which is scheduled for an early 2016 release through Pelagic Records. Guitarist and main song writer Takaakira Goto comments: ,The theme of this track is life and death and regeneration. Even when our bodies decay and decompose, our souls will prevail unchanged. Our bodies will act as seeds for the next generation, while our souls will journey together into our new eternal life. This is the story we want to explore with our next album, a portrayal of our journey through life towards death; from living out our lives proud and high, to bodies immolating, infused with precious memories... and through the vast, noisy tunnel of space, we become pure souls - a single drop of water in the fountain of life." LA-based German cover artist Florian Bertmer was commissioned to transform these themes into cover art.

This is PG.LOST's Oscillate- the band's latest LP packed to the gills with pure drama and catharsis. Their fifth overall and first effort since 2016's much lauded Versus, Oscillate leans on an instrumental approach and while their keen understanding of tension/release may warrant comparison to the likes of MONO, Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, PG.LOST is unafraid to move into exciting new directions. With influences that range from the emotional heft of Big Thief to the inventive spirit of krautrock to the brutality of Neurosis to the dark experimentalism of COIL, these heavier elements intertwine and open up into wide-eyed expansiveness of Fennesz or Tim Hecker, revealing a beauty shimmering underneath and a range of depth rarely found in today's over-compressed and spit-shined version of "modern music." Kicking off with a blossoming dark ambient passage on the title track, an ascendant guitar/synth part builds tension until final release is achieved with a massive chorus, waves of eye-opening guitars and elephantine tribal drums. It's emblematic of the album as a whole- massive in scope and even larger in sound, Oscillate is the true definition of its title with incredibly tense swells to the point of collapse leading to a slow but pensive disintegration. And again. And again. Oscillate is not just instrumental music, it's cinematic- it's high drama, executed in IMAX with a pristine soundtrack blasting at 120db. Due in November via Pelagic Records, the LP was recorded by the band in their own studio, and mixed/mastered by Magnus Lindberg from Cult of Luna. Sovereign in execution and mammoth in scope, Oscillate is ten tracks of pure dramatic bombast and a massive step forward for the decades-old band. The four years away have been worth it. If BEAR were a movie, they wouldn't be like that. BEAR are that band you won't ever forget seeing live. A threat. They come to you, they confront you, they give you the feeling that you are not safe in the audience. And what a rare gift that is, in our safe world of comfort stable mediocrity, where security has become the ultimate value. By that, BEAR revoke the spirit of great hardcore bands of the 90's... bands like Catharsis or G e h e n n a , b a n d s w h o s e r a w e n e r g y , uncompromising delivery and relentlessly violent performance was as energizing and invigorating as it was puzzling for the oftentimes baffled audience, who had their teeth caved in by guitars thrown in their direction, and a bearded front man caving through them like a derailed freight train, coming to a flaming halt at the end of the room, behind the mixing desk. BEAR hail from Antwerp, Belgium's 2nd largest city and home to a thriving local metal and hardcore scene ever since the 90's, which is when members of BEAR first met at a local venue where all punk- & hardcore-bands made a stop when touring Europe. This year marks their 10th anniversary as a band. With 3 albums released since on Let it Burn and Basick Records, performances at festivals such as Graspop, Roadburn, Rock Herk, Euroblast, UK Tech Fest, Complextiy Fest and headline tours through Europe and India, the band has made themselves a name in the heavy music underground scene as one of the most punishing live acts out there. The first few seconds of opener "Dissolve Dissipate" leave no doubt that Propaganda is an angry album-- an album against propaganda. Against the manipulative character of communication and product-placement that we face each time we turn on the TV, walk through the aisles of a supermarket or tune in to Spotify without a paid subscription. And while blatant ideological propaganda is being camouflaged behind product propaganda within an endless floating spectrum of ever-growing artificially created needs and demands, ideology is as a matter of fact constantly being reinstated and affirmed. We are never and nowhere free from it. BEAR are alluding to this with metaphors and artwork referencing historic propaganda, and the political practices used by the terrible dictators of the 20th century: presented in a pop-art style that is equal parts ironic and iconic. PG.Lost need no introduction. For 4 long years, fans have been eagerly awaiting the follow-up album to 2016's critically acclaimed Versus, which in the meantime has become nothing less than a cult album in the post rock world. Despite bass player Kristian Karlsson's heavy engagement in his other band CULT OF LUNA, PG.Lost toured with Versus around the globe, in support of bands like MONO, ALCEST and CULT OF LUNA in Europe, and playing their own headline shows to crowds of 1.000+ in China. The 4 piece from Norrköping, Sweden also appeared at Robert Smith's prestigious Meltdown showcase festival in London, personally chosen by the man himself. While the follow-up to Versus is due for a release later this year, to sweeten the wait we are now bringing you a remastered re-release of PG.LOST's debut album, Yes I Am, for the first time ever on vinyl. And right here, we'd like to leave you with what the band has to say about this long overdue re-issue themselves. ,Sometimes when we have listened to those songs that we made roughly fifteen years ago we've thought of how we could make them sound better if we recorded them with the skills and knowledge that we have now. We made a halfhearted effort a while ago, and we learned quite quickly that it was not as easy as we thought. Something just got lost in the mix. A feeling. For better or worse that album, as it was recorded in our early twenties, is simply embedded in our DNA and stands as a testament of our evolution as a band. It was Yes I Am that attracted interest from labels and landed us our first record deal. It was those songs that took us out in the world to meet people and do all the things we love that we had only dreamed of before. We still play them live with the same immersive feeling we got when we made them. So now, with all that in mind, when we ask ourselves "are you proud?" the answer will always be "Yes I Am!" So, we are really happy to finally be able to offer you the re-release of "Yes I Am". First time on vinyl and with a new/old design for the CD version. The cover photo is one of the actual spraypainted demos that our friend Andreas made back in the day when we were just kids. As a bonus, we're also including a download of a live recording of our show at "Östgötateatern" in our hometown Norrköping in 2017 where we played all the songs from the album for the 10th anniversary of its release. It was a project long in the making and possibly the most elaborate and fun gig we've ever done. It's not every day that you have the size and possibilities of a huge professional theatre at your disposal, and the visions and time of the people working there.
