"Fragile" стал дебютом клавишника Рика Уэйкмана в группе Yes, в состав которой входили Джон Андерсон (вокал), Крис Сквайр (бас, вокал), Билл Бруфорд (ударные) и Стив Хоу (гитара). После его присоединения летом 1971 года группа записала девять песен для альбома.
"Fragile" дебютировал в топ-10 США в феврале 1972 года, стал платиновым в Великобритании и дважды платиновым в США и поднял группу на новые высоты с такими хитами, как "Roundabout" и "Long Distance Runaround", которые позже стали одними из самых знаковых для группы.
