Death's sixth full-length album, originally released in 1995 through Roadrunner Records.
Chuck had specifically asked the label not to advertise the album as a Death Metal album; the label ignored him and advertised it as such on Metal Hammer magazine.
Symbolic was intended to be the last Death album and the end of the band, but Nuclear Blast did not agree to release Chuck's Control Denied album without having one ''sure'' success with a release bearing the ''Death'' branding.
