Grace Jones - Warm Leatherette

Warm Leatherette is the fourth studio album by Grace Jones, released in May 1980. Her first album recorded at [l=Compass Point Studios], it features contributions from the reggae production duo [a=Sly & Robbie] and marks a dramatic change in sound, dropping the disco of her first three albums in favour of new wave / reggae. The album includes mostly covers of songs by [a=The Normal], [a197435], [a=Roxy Music], [a86094], [a269534] and [a=Jacques Higelin], and two original songs. The vinyl LP release of the album included shorter versions of some of the songs, while most compact disc editions include extended 12" mixes of selected tracks. Warm Leatherette was the first Grace Jones album with cover art designed by her then-boyfriend, [a=Jean-Paul Goude]. The initial release featured a black and white photograph of Grace Jones pregnant, wearing an [a5335004] dress. After the commercial success of Nightclubbing, Island Records re-released Warm Leatherette with new artwork, a picture of Grace Jones performing "Walking in the Rain", taken from her 1982 concert video [m=35683].
