Sunset Sunrise is the fifth album from Norwegian band In The Country, who celebrate their tenth anniversary in 2013 having played nearly 160 concerts in over 20 countries and garnered worldwide critical acclaim. Founded in 2003, In The Country comprises Morten Qvenlid on piano, Roger Arntzen on bass and Pal Hausken on drums, who all met whilst studying at the Oslo music academy. Multi-instrumentalist Qvenlid writes all In The Country’s material, drawing on a remarkably diverse musical history that has seen him play with acoustic metal-jazz quartet Shining, jazz-rock bands Jaga Jazzist and The National Bank, pop group Ostenfor Sol, and jazz groups Slow Motion Quintet and Susanna and the Magical Orchestra (the Magical Orchestra being just Morten playing keyboard and various electronic instruments.) Their fifth album, ‘Sunset Sunrise’, was recorded in the legendary Sunset Sound studio in Los Angeles during the trio ́s summer tour in the USA in 2012, recorded by Ryan Freeland, a 3-time Grammy winning engineer whose credits include Bonnie Raitt, Ray LaMontagne, Hugh Laurie, Aimee Mann and Loudon Wainwright III.
