PAUCKER - Cycles

The singer/songwriter has kept his audience waiting for a long time, because after all the release of the last PAUCKER album ("Miserable Junkie"/ Monohausen Records) was already eight years ago. Now the curly-haired man is finally making his comeback on the stages and turntables of Germany: His new album "CYCLES" will be released in spring 2020. Despite the lavish concert break, there has never really been a "creative time-out", says PAUCKER about the maturing process of the new album. On the contrary, he has continuously worked on new songs, giving space to different impulses and seeking and sometimes finding inspiration in other projects. The distillate of this exciting artistic journey is now finally revealed on the new album "CYCLES", a concept album divided into four "cycles", or "chapters", which stretches over almost 80 minutes playing time and thus four vinyl pages. "I liked the idea of the concept album right from the start, i.e. I partly combined songs lyrically and musically or composed small in-between pieces. In times of Spotify and YouTube and the speeds in all areas of such a release, this is something very untypical: "CYCLES" takes its time". This time again, the Stuttgart-born artist has produced his album entirely on his own, mainly in his own " Monkeemusic Studios" in Cologne, where he has been living for several years. Once again, all lyrics are written by PAUCKER himself, most of the instruments are recorded by himself. "It was totally important for me to push my own limits and redefine myself", says PAUCKER, "that's why I recorded a classical string quartet, for example, and then did some experimental work in the studio. I also liked the idea of breaking up deadlocked song structures and allowing longer journeys through different songs and musical styles - and still staying true to my indie sound, which already influenced my first album "Miserable Junkie". The "PAUCKER-Sound", that is a mixture of the "Beatles" of the "White Album" era, the Rhythm`n`Blues of the early "Kinks", the clattering Psychodelic Rock of "Beck", the introverted melancholy of Elliot Smith... and sometimes all of that together. PAUCKERS lyrics are edgy and honest and sometimes they hurt a little bit, his melodies fluctuate dangerously between self-reflection and longing, and still want you to smile. PAUCKER tells us his stories with everything he has at his disposal and sometimes he loses himself in them - comforting and disturbing at the same time.
