Paul Desmond / Gerry Mulligan - Two Of A Mind (Lim. Edition)

The overwhelming success of Blues in Time (from a musical if not commercial standpoint) led to their second album, titled Two of a Mind, which would be recorded in 1962 and is presented here in its entirety. The sequel is generally considered to be much better than their excellent first encounter. After Two of a Mind, Mulligan and Desmond wouldn’t record together again until 1969. The two musicians were present at the April 29, 1969 Duke Ellington homage at the White House, where they both participated but didn’t interact. In June of that year, the saxophonists were captured playing live in New Orleans in a quartet format. Finally, the occasion presented itself in 1972 for both sax players to join the Dave Brubeck Trio (with Jack Six on bass and Alan Dawson on drums) for an extended European tour. Paul Desmond formed his Canadian quartet in early 1975 after several years of relative inactivity. He died on May 30, 1977. Record Label: Spiral Records Style: Jazz
