Originally a record store specializing in reggae, Greensleeves Records was founded in London in 1977 as one of the most prestigious record companies in the independent music industry and music publishers for artists and producers of Jamaican music in Europe. For the 40th anniversary of the "Total Reggae" series, a representative selection of high-quality recordings of classics, hits and rarities was compiled in chronological order. The range ranges from the finest UK reggae of the founder years, Jamaican Roots, Dub, and the Deejays of the early Dancehall reggae with the heavyweight sound of the Roots Radics, about the end of the 70s to early 80s (CD1), about the pioneering development of the Digital reggae from 1985 with ever-growing genre boundaries and the most commercially successful phase of the label of the 90s and Nuller years, with the subgenres Hardcore Ragga, Dancehall / Bashment and Modern Roots (CD2). For the two-and-half-hour selection, we will mention ten songs in detail: 1. The very first song from 1977 "Where Is Jah" by the UK reggae veterans Reggae Regular in the wanted 12 "Mix, 2." Cassava Piece ('79 Style) "By Augustus Pablo (a fantastic update in the style of" King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown "), 3. the 7" Cut by "Poor And Humble" by Wayne Wade 4. "Jah Love" by Rebel Regulars & General Saint (the A , The sixth single of "Telephone Love (Deh Pon Mi Mind)", "The Love of Love", "The Love of Love" and "The Love of Love" Shabba Ranks and JC Lodge, 7. "Pirates' Anthem" with the legendary radiosender Kiss FM (Home T / Cocoa Tea / Shabba Ranks), 8. Shaggysl version of "Oh Carolina" by Folkes Brothers / Prince Buster original from 1960, 9. "Under Me Sensi" in the ko Ningal version of Barrington Levy & Beenie Man, 10. "Sufferer" by Bounty Killer (the official Tune to Sean Pauls worldwide hit "Get Busy" on the Diwali Riddim). The double CD comes with 40 tracks in a Cleartray jewel case, has detailed Linernotes by Reggaeexperten John Masouri and is an unrestricted recommendation for genre newcomers, but also a tip for the history-conscious collector and connaisseur!
