Downloadcode.Electro/ Ambient Intentions and Variations is composer Mikael Lind's most ambient work to date, absent of beats, filled with soundscapes and sound manipulation. Weightless music that may make you think of Christopher Bissonette, Deaf Center or Stephen Mathieu. Lind's tracks are based on simple themes – often performed by a piano or a viola – but his compositions gradually evolve into more complex creations and mature textures by letting electronically manipulated sounds interact. As in Lind's previous releases, these five sonic explorations are more comforting than agitating. But make no mistake: underneath their beautiful surface, threatening forces constantly loom, waiting to be unleashed: In 'Unyielding Rocks' the shimmering sounds are almost drowned in a wall of droning distortions. But those multi-layered elements never fully negate the solemn aspect of Lind's music, or, as he puts it: "Complexity is a wonderful thing, but should never be an end in itself." Mikael Lind is a composer of experimental ambient music, currently residing in Reykjavik, Iceland. 'Intentions and Variations' is his debut for Morr Music.

Second release of our 7" series "Saoco Now!", featuring current recordings which celebrate the classic legacy from Puerto Rico's rich history of dance music. These two tracks are the recorded debut of La Máquina Insular, one the key bands in the revitalization of the plena genre in Puerto Rico. Continuing a journey we started with our Saoco! compilations, the series Saoco Now! presents current recordings which celebrate the legacy of key figures of Puerto Rican music from the 50s and 60s. On this second 7", we are proud to feature the first recordings by La Máquina Insular, a plena band which carries on this tradition of street music, still very much alive in Puerto Rico. The band's director, plena maestro and requinto virtuoso Héctor "Tito" Matos, is one of the leading examples of a movement that has revitalized the plena genre in Puerto Rico during the last decade, taking it back to the street corners of the island's neighbourhoods. Featuring the traditional instrumentation of tambourines, güiro, tumbandero and the back-up of a clarinet, La Máquina Insular play a repertoire of classic and new plenas with the strength and rhythm typical of the best of the genre. Written by Tito Matos, 'Somos la plena' is a manifesto about the vitality of street and communal plena which lists the genre's great figures and iconic neighbourhoods. Sung by Luis "Lagarto" Figueroa, 'Ven a bailar' is a composition by the patriarch of bomba and plena, Rafael Cepeda, author of Cortijo y su Combo's first hit, 'El bombón de Elena', among many others. A current favourite among the new generation of pleneros, the song achieves a vintage flavour in this rendition by La Máquina Insular, worthy of such a classic title.

Felder is an infinite, boundless creation that unravels upon every listen. Werner has created sounds that are listenable and inviting, complex but approachable and, mostly, completely unidentifiable. 'Felder' means 'fields' in German, and here the word refers to conceptual frameworks and subjects, and sound fields. Werner is a cultivator — a farmer — of the various sounds, from metal scratched on a big glass window to piano phrases found on a private Popul Vuh compilation. He mixes organic sounds from French horns and cellos seamlessly with synthesized notes created with one-of-a-kind programs. Werner builds layers of sound with differing cadences upon one another, creating intricate patterns that connect with each other structurally, rhythmically, semantically, and historically. Suggestions of jazz, industrial music, drone and even folk float in and out of the electronic compositions in a seemingly effortless manner, paradoxically, Felder was meticulously constructed over the course of four years. Werner's refinement process for the pieces on Felder was simultaneous with the lofty goal of challenging himself as a musician while still creating a record that is melodic and complex. Werner recorded the album in Marfa, Texas, Berlin, and around the world while touring with Mouse on Mars. Just as the album's creation and production cannot be tied to a specific setting or time, the sounds heard on the album have no clear boundaries. They are unexpectedly malleable and mutable. Context and perceptions play with sounds to yield a fresh new experience with each listen. Samples and instrumentals bounce off one another, starting from central points and radiating outwards. With so many new sounds to discover and new inspirations to be found, Felder is an entire new field of musical possibilities — a landscape that at first appears simple and beautiful that reveals its utter complexity upon closer inspection. The album is joyful experience for both the mind and the soul

180G Vinyl! Billy Idol's Band before he started his solo career. The third LP by Generation X's original line-up, recorded in 1979 and unreleased until 1998. An essential piece in the discography of one of the original UK punk bands. In early 1979 Generation X went to the English countryside to write and 'routine' the band's third album. We felt we had a new sound, simple songs delivered with more space than most rock'n'roll, so we went into Olympic Studios in Barnes, London and began recording with the house engineer, Doug Bennett, as co-producer. Most of the songs were recorded before our tour of Japan in June '79. On our return Billy came into the studio with an outline of a song called 'Dancing With Myself'. We went to work on it and pretty much finished it quickly and we felt it was the song to lead the album, a single I guess. Then I left the band at the end of the year and carried the fuckin' stack of 1/4'' master tapes around the world for many years. A year or so later they changed the band name to Gen X and re-recorded four or five songs for the album "Kiss Me Deadly". Billy later released the re-recorded version of 'Dancing With Myself' for his solo career in America and the rest is history. After years in storage my tapes were nearing the end of their life, so I digitized them in order to save this lost treasure. I named the album "KMD Sweet Revenge". Some time later the album was released in Germany, Japan, Spain and supposedly the USA, however the release in America was quashed until Capitol Records put out their own version within a 3-CD anthology of the band, using some different mixes of the songs from cassette tapes. The recordings are almost complete minus a few guitar solos and final mixes. Time on Generation X had run out, but this album clearly shows the direction the band were heading and is worth documenting and certainly worth playing. For your pleasure. Sweet Revenge. First vinyl release of this live show from December 1978, featuring mainly tracks from Generation X's first two albums and displaying all the angst and attitude of one of the original UK punk bands. It is hard to realize that on December 10th, 2016, it will be 40 years since Generation X first took to the stage. I was the guitarist and "Live At Sheffield" is a recording from a later show in 1978, but still has the angst and rock'n'roll spirit that Generation X were known for. Always slightly apart from the initial punk movement with the good looks and fantastic playing, Generation X relished the live shows but up to the end of 1979, when I left the band, had only done a few tours of the United Kingdom, a couple of dates in Paris and a week in Japan. So the amount of people who actually saw Generation X live is pretty limited. "Live At Sheffield" gives you a chance to enjoy the sound of a Generation X gig (along with fake audience) and feel the power of what we did live. The songs are from the first two albums plus a strange medley of '100 Punks' and 'Kleenex' and the cover of 'Shakin' All Over'. Although the band only lasted three years, the music stands the test of time, and with Billy Idol's later success as a solo artist in America this recording has somewhat of an historical aspect. Billy continues to play quite a few of these songs live to this day and it may be interesting to compare, although comparisons are deadly. At the time of this show Generation X had been on Top Of The Pops numerous times, but this was punk and nobody thought about anything but the moment. Playing live every night in a different town has a certain momentum, and like a great photograph, to capture a moment in time of rock'n'roll is just as visual. Following on from successfully funding her How To Make A Symphony Kickstarter project, Emika returns with a new four-track EP that sees her chart yet more new territory. Lead track Flashbacks is a typically haunting affair whose deeply personal lyrics are a heartening example of how art can turn feelings of trauma into something beautiful. “It’s about the flashbacks I suffer with” she explains, “ strong unique moments in time that refuse to release me. I am always being pulled back in time from my present awareness into a parallel world of trapped memories. It’s often terrifying and very disorientating. These experiences are a world of inspiration for my work.” Her velvety voice belies the deep subject matter while the sounds gracefully tread the line between the brooding and the ethereal, with pulsing, filtered synth delays, low register piano bass octaves and a stuttering slo-mo beat produced with The Exaltics, building an engrossing atmosphere. Restless Wings goes into more experimental territory – both in terms of composition and concept. “It’s about creating a new personality which lives in the internet – something we all know. Only the online life wants to be free and grow, but it’s trapped inside the programmers’code language with no real escape.” She creates this sense of tension through her own interpretation of the sound of wings in flight – something she has been attempting to create for many years, and has finally reached in stunning fashion by passing voltage and feedback through analog rhythm processors. Her many years of sound design experience and training are made clear for all to see on the track, the stuttering patter of the trapped wings punctuating synth sequences and slowly filtering strings. Total features the silver-toned soprano star of How To Make A Symphony, Michaela Srumova, and tackles the complicated relationship between a mother and her daughter. “I feel I will only be able to fully understand my mother when I have my own children and then the ‚total’ cycle will be complete” says Emika of the subject matter, which she woozily addresses over stacks of bright, gently quavering synth chords before Srumova’s voice arrives to create a stark juxtaposition. French musician Franck Vigroux provides a stark, shuddering remix of Flashbacks to complete the EP, driven by gnarled blasts of wildly distorted synths and bass grunts, rising to an intense, mesmeric crescendo. A video for Flashbacks was shot in Iceland by Emika’s live show team, using nothing but two iPhone 6s to capture the footage. Her AV show visual artist Tving edited the video, creating a fittingly jarring monochrome experience that perfectly encapsulates the mood and intent of the track and its lyrics. Total, and Restless Wings also have music videos which abstract the song narratives and transport the audience into the deep worlds of music. In case you were still questioning it, North Dakota's stoner warriors EGYPT work at the own, selected pace and basically don't give a flying duck about the rest. Hey, remember we're talking of a band that suddenly gained notoriety a couple of years after their initial split thanks to the posthumous release of their sole demo through the mighty METEORCITY imprint back in 2009. But such was the power and richness of "Valley of the Kings" or "Dirty Witch" that this trio eventually reunited, with a new six stringer in tow, and vowed to show the rest of the world how to do it. And indeed, both their epic debut full-length ('Become the Sun') and split with like-minded space rockers WO FAT ("'Cyclopean Riffs') proved that they hadn't lost their freakin' touch. Now, following a massive songwriting period that will give birth to not one but two albums in 2016, its first spawn titled 'Endless Flight' will once again establish EGYPT as the kings of the fuzz. The instantly recognizable and warm guitar tone, the hypnotic groove of bassist and singer Aaron Esterby manages to summon in conspiracy with drummer Chad Heille and the way the riffs circle the wagons so to speak before launching their lethal attack, all wrapped up with a good taste for the epic. It's all here, all those elements that still make in 2016 EGYPT stand out in the middle of the otherwise quite stale stoner/doom scene. At 35 minutes and armed with nly' five songs, 'Endless Flight' never outstays its welcome yet chooses instead to hit it where it hurts before leaving in a haze of smoke. Rock on!!!

Midwich is proud to present the full-length debut of Alex Barnett under his own name. Barnett is a Chicago-based electronic musician known for his work with dark ambient group Oakeater and collaborative work in Barnett & Coloccia on Blackest Ever Black, in addition to a handful of cassettes and collaborative projects. Chew From the Mind is a raw yet elegant synthesizer album that is surreal, beautiful and evocative of previous horror-score theme work, while expanding his sound toward more raw electronic influences. The album draws from a heady mixture of early new wave and synth-pop, '70s-era Miles Davis, science fiction literature and the past 15 years of the American underground. Within its thematic unity, Chew From the Mind paints a variety of scenarios, ranging from claustrophobic to vast, ethereal to rawly physical. The tracks were recorded and mixed in his home studio, employing a diverse set of drum machines and synthesizers in various states of functionality or development. Full-color UV gloss jacket featuring artwork by renowned sci-fi illustrator and painter, Mark Salwowski.
