Man Of Aran – это саундтрек написанный музыкантами специально к одноименному немому фильму 1934 года. Такие экзерсисы любят пост-роковые коллективы, нуждающиеся в семантическом подкреплении своих пышных музыкальных формулировок, но BSP прежде с легкостью писавшие песни о Нильсе Боре, о нехватке идей задумываются в последнюю очередь. Впрочем, упоминание пост-рока было не излишним, если предыдущую пластинку квартета продюсировал легендарный Ефрим Менук, участник Godspeed!You Black Emperor и еще с десятка разных команд, то эта своим настроением больше напоминает Dirty Three и Explosions In The Sky. BSP удалось добиться главного – Man Of Aran имеет самостоятельную ценность в отрыве от видеоряда, а это немалое достижение для любого музыкального жанра. Феликс Сандалов

British Sea Power are set to release new album ‘Machineries Of Joy. Machineries Of Joy is British Sea Power’s fifth album – seventh including film soundtracks. The album was worked up in the Berwyn mountains in north Wales and recorded in Brighton with the engineer Dan Swift, produced by British Sea Power. The album was mixed by Ken Thomas in rural Hampshire and in Castleford in West Yorkshire. Ken has previously worked with musicians including David Bowie, Wire, Queen, PiL and Sigur Ros. “We’d like to think the album is warm and restorative,” says singer Yan. “Various things are touched on in the words – Franciscan monks, ketamine, French female bodybuilders turned erotic movie stars. The world often seems a mad, hysterical place at the moment.
