Kärbholz. The four guys from Ruppichteroth in North Rhine-Westphalia, in the middle of Cologne's green lungs, have been making music together now since 2003; and increasingly successfully, if you look at the band's latest releases. "Rastlos" from 2013 went from a standing start to #16 and the successor "Karma" from 2015 even to #7 of the German album charts. With the longplayer "Überdosis Leben" released in 2017, they just missed the pole position with #2. The album "Herz & Verstand" that followed in 2019 reached #3 in the album charts and in the same year even the accompanying live album "Herz & Verstand - Live in Köln" reached #13. They are considered a rousing live act, whose straightforward, charismatic-rough sound full of emotionality inspires "a wide audience from 15 - 65 years" (band rating). Highlight of the live activities was certainly the 2019 release tour with up to over 3,000 visitors per concert. The new album Kontra. will be released on 26.02.2021 and for the further journey of the likeable foursome from Ruppichteroth will certainly be another milestone in their career. There is no need for a new music album that calls for blunt opposition. Rather, Kontra. represents a counterpoint. A counter voice to the so simple but dangerous black and white. Away from right and wrong, from black and white, from for or against... towards the claim and the invitation to look at things from different perspectives and to make room for individual conclusions that are not based on a principle but on the needs of each individual. Kontra. is also a counterpoint to its own musical past. The melancholy of the last album has given way to a positive mood of departure. More untamed and louder it has become, the new album. Riff-heavy, yes. More than ever before. But also a look back in the direction of the older albums like 100%, on which there was more punk rock than metal.
