Catacomb Records are proud to announce the signing of countryside dwelling riffy Stoner quartet GRINGO. GRINGO, from Cleobury Mortimer in Shropshire, are the twisted end result of a combination of influences ranging from Iommi to Einstein, hangovers to horsepower, space cadets to space exploration; unhindered by genre clichés whilst remaining true to the heritage of Midlands heaviness. This is the 25th anniversary reissue of GIRL TROUBLE's 1988 debut LP "Hit It Or Quit It", which was originally a co-release between K and Sub Pop, and it was the first full-length that Sub Pop ever released. This reissue of GIRL TROUBLE's 1988 debut album, "Hit It Or Quit It" [KLP229], includes eleven original songs, one Northwest classic ("Steppin' Out" by PAUL REVERE & THE RAIDERS), and two bonus tracks exclusive to this release, "White Lightning" and "Shakin' All Over". To keep the energy level up and the over-production level down, these songs were recorded "live" (using the band's plywood speaker cabinets and a drum set purchased for $70 from the Sears surplus store) with only an occasional added guitar or vocal track. With the minimal pounding of Bon's drums, the steady cool of Dale on bass, the buzzsaw scream from Kahuna's Ouija guitar, and the rabid rock 'n' roll stylings of K.P. Mudweiser's second full length release, Angel Lust, comes soaked with the swamps of New Orleans, the whiskey of Alabama and the blues of Mississippi. Which is pretty bloody spectacular considering they hail from Montpellier, France. There is a lot to like about the music on offer here from the meaty riff machine that is 'Bloody Hands' to the slide guitar lamentations of 'Black Bird'. And a warning to bass players, tissues at the ready for the godly tones in 'Rumble Love', it'll make you want to do naughty things. It's hard not to want to draw comparisons to Queens of the Stone Age when listening to Angel Lust, but that would be a disservice to Mudweiser. Whilst there are undoubtedly QOTSA-like vibes to 'Chuch A Luck' and 'Back Road' (not necessarily a bad thing) there are more moments of Black Sabbath meets Corrosion of Conformity greatness to savour, particularly in 'Dead Point' which oozes out of the speakers like a snake with it's Iommi-esque riffs proudly displayed for all to see.
