Grasscut will release their second album, Unearth, on 16 July. Grasscut are uniquely concerned with place, with location - Unearth features ten songs shaped by landscape and memory, each inspired by a specific location in Britain. There is also a "shadow version" of Unearth, comprising alternative versions of each of the ten tracks. Each currently exists only on a single cassette, which has been concealed (with Walkman) in a box at each location around the country. Grasscut invite those of a curious and/or dogged disposition to track down any or all of the boxes, following video directions and Twitter clues. Any fan who posts a photo of himself listening to a shadow track in situ will receive a signed CD copy of the shadow version of Unearth. But each Walkman also features a letter of the alphabet: one-tenth of a codeword. The first person to visit all ten locations, and to contact us with this word, will be entitled to a private Grasscut performance in their own home. The band's A&R has even promised to make soup for the assembled throng. Style: Electronic

Four Tet continues the rich electronic buffet that is his Text imprint with one his own solo EPs. Kicking off with "Jupiters" which contrasts blissed-out digital arpeggios with hard-as-nails rumbling UKG beats. Beginning with a twinkling wash of said arpeggios this gives way to an acidic pulse which is soon met head on with a growling, bass-heavy UKG beat that only Four Tet can conjure up. An 808 sub dominates the whole track while other elements jossle for position. The track climaxes with all the elements converging as one - glistening arps, skitting beats, euphoric melodies and finally this subtle, mangled vocal delivery (again, synonymous with Four Tet) which just elevates the track those extra few inches at the end, making for a pretty darn epic finale. On the flip "Ocras" is a nagging, incessant late night club number - druggy and disorientating, its repetition and driving nature make for a hypnotic ride that will suck you into its forward-propelled digital backwash. That said, although all elements are contructed electronically, Four Tet has an uncanny ability to make his tracks breath life and feel somehow natural and organic. This is no exception. 2012...
