Athens Of The North bring another previously unheard gem to light, with Boots For Dancing’s 1982 record ‘The Undisco Kidds’. Throughout a short career spanning across three years, Boots For Dancing rose from Scotland’s punk scene bringing a new type of energetic live performance, leading the way for the Post Punk movement. After a string of would be hits, the band split in 1982 due to business differences with only a handful of single releases. They did however record a wealth of tracks during their time together which the guys at Athens Of The North have now put together to release “the album-that-never-was”. The band drew comparisons with the Rezillos and Human League at the time, listening back to the record now it’s easy to hear artists such as Talking Heads and later revival bands such as the Strokes and Franz Ferdinand in the music. ‘The Undisco Kidds’ sounds as refreshing as it must of done in 1982, John Peel described Boots For Dancing as “one of the only bands that can get me up to dance” and its easy to see why.

Brooklyn producer Francis Harris returns to Scissor & Thread with hazy collaborative LP with guitarist Gabe Hendrick as Aris Kindt. Floods takes inspiration from a classic Rembrandt painting. Titled Floods, the album is desscribed as being comprised of “dense layers of noise, brittle beats, found sounds and a general haze,” and is inspired by late author W.G. Sebald’s interpretation of Rembrandt’s ‘The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp’. “Floods is a sonic journey into the heart of the body, a bold rejuvenation of Adriaan Adriaanszoon (Aris Kindt), once a mere cadaver on a cold metal slab, now a living breathing human at the heart of a creative shift in vantage point from object to active subject,” the label writes. The album was created over a year with the help a vintage TR-808 drum machine, Eurorack modular system and two guitars, and combines Harris’s love for electronic music with the indie noise of his youth. The album follows last year’s solo LP Minutes Of Sleep, which saw Harris deliver a singularly evocative take on deep house, and Tailored Cuts, Vol. 2, Scissor & Thread’s second label compilation.

Downloadcode.Wilco are one of the most respected bands on the planet — paragons of good taste, masters of genre-bridging craftsmanship and chill independence. Considering that heavy rep, it's strange to think that when Jeff Tweedy put together Wilco's first lineup 20 years ago, their loose bar-band vibe was a defiant response to the weighty myth he'd shouldered as a member of alt-country pioneers Uncle Tupelo. Wilco's first album in four years recalls their early "hey, what the hell" freedom, in spirit if not in sound. It's their most concise, catchy, naturally songful album in at least a decade — the sound of a band reconnecting with the fun of rocking out together in a room. Wilco's two most recent studio LPs — 2011's The Whole Love and 2009's Wilco (The Album) — were musically lavish, but also a touch staid, with their rough edges burnished to a too-smooth finish. Everything about Star Wars betrays ease and immediacy: They released it online for free with no warning. The jokey title references one of the most universally held pleasures in the history of human culture. The music is built on some pretty essential influences as well — from the Abbey Road majesty of "More. . ." and the roughnecked T. Rex shoogity-oogity of "Random Name Generator" to the basement-glam punk attack of "Pickled Ginger" and the sad-ballad sweetness of "Magnetized." Wilco have gotten back in touch with their own strengths, too — especially the ability to match instantly familiar melodies with beautifully jarring noise, which made 2002's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and 1996's Being There into watersheds. "The Joke Explained" is a cute folk-rock ditty made full-on awesome by peals of searing Sonic Youth-style drone poetry. And then there's "You Satellite," the incandescent jam that serves as the album's elusive centerpiece. It's a seething yet warm meditation on clinging to faint light in dark times, with what sounds like a battalion of guitars roiling against drummer Glenn Kotche's avant-jazz tumble. Only Wilco could make something this eruptive feel so comfy, like a steel-wool security blanket. The music's urgent, live-in-the-studio feel pairs well with Tweedy's lyrics, which seem more direct and compact than they have in a while. He's working his usual themes — doubt, devotion, everyday fears and resigned hopes — without any of the literary obscurity that sometimes creeps into his writing. "I was only after a friend to follow through," he sings on the lovely "Taste the Ceiling," sounding like John Lennon in a moment of hard-fought grace. You can't help wonder if Sukierae, the deeply personal side project he recorded last year with his teenage son Spencer on drums, might have helped revive Tweedy's feel for music's elemental joy. In the album's most carefree moments, of which there are many, he sounds at home in himself — never an easy move for one of rock's top chroniclers of midlife man-malaise. "I belong to the stars in the sky," he sings on "Random Name Generator," making a blues boast out of spacey poesy and totally pulling it off. Give it up for the man. It's been 20 years! Yes, PELZIG have been around since 1995. Why this isn't part of general knowledge might be owing to the fact that PELZIG have often been misunderstood to be a side project of SLUT- which, facing the staff intersections, perhaps couldn't be avoided. Yet, the band has always self-sufficiently chosen its own path. The return of PELZIG after 11 years! Up to now four albums have been released which partly were recorded and mixed at Uphon Studio in Weilheim in Germany. In 2004 their last album ,Safe In Its Place" was released - it probably captured the sound and the energy of the band from Munich and Ingolstadt better than any release before. That was eleven years ago. It feels like an eternity. Eleven years in which the band faced good and bad news, on a personal as well as on a musical level. Meanwhile in the real world, the entire musical landscape was turned upside down. Things changed. Unperturbed, the band around vocalist Christian Schulmeyr continued working on their material, always in the safe knowledge that one day the time would come to release a new album. Even though now they had to start from scratch. Which doesn't matter to PELZIG, just like anything else. The band never intended to be the next big thing. From an endless amount of ideas a core of ten songs emerged which PELZIG will release under the title ,Medium Cool World". The album is a distillate from over a decade of various musical influences, changing living environments, strokes of luck and experiences of failure. Not everything is always cool. But also not quite uncool. Rather somehow in-between. Guitarist Rainer Schaller - who by the way is a producer at the German radio station BR Zündfunk - took over production duties. Oli Zülch, known for his work with NOTWIST, MS JOHN SODA, SLUT, DIE ÄRZTE and SPORTFREUNDE STILLER mixed the album and gave it the final punch. Or maybe not. We will see.

Many late night guitar sessions resulted in new soundscapes. A new chapter was opening. The former 'Daysoul' moniker exchanged for his original birth name 'St.Louis'. Producing and writing all his own music and playing his own instrumentation;
Olivier St.louis was embarking on a new road. The Black Music EP coming out on Jakarta Records gives listeners both old and new a taste of Olivier's true music palate. When asked his thoughts on his artistry he states:"no punches pulled ...no compromises ... Just me".?
