Taken from the new album "What The World Needs Now..." album opener and lead single "Double Trouble" sees Public Image Ltd (PiL) launching into a statement of intent. The 10" vinyl EP will be backed by "Betty Page" and also comes with the additional non-album bonus track "Turkey Tits". The artwork for the single, partly inspired by Native American Hopi characters, was designed and handdrawn by John Lydon. Widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential bands of all time, PiL's music and vision earned them 5 UK Top 20 singles and 5 UK Top 20 albums. With a shifting line-up and unique sound, John Lydon guided the band from their debut album "First Issue" in 1978 through to 1992's "That What Is Not". After a 17 year hiatus, Lydon reactivated PiL in 2009 by taking them back on the road worldwide. "This is PiL", the band's first album in 17 years, got released in 2012 and was a huge critical success. Last year the band returned to Steve Winwood's Wincraft studio in the Cotswolds' to record the new album. Released on 4th September, "What The World Needs Now..." precedes the start of their 23-date UK/Europe tour. "What The World Needs Now..." is self-funded by PiL and will be released on PiL's own label PiL Official. Public Image Ltd are: John Lydon - After fronting the Sex Pistols, John Lydon formed Public Image Ltd in 1978. Outside of PiL John has released several solo records and collaborations. He also brings quality TV to the masses and has recently released the autobiography "Anger is an Energy: My Life Uncensored". Lu Edmonds - Multi instrumentalist and former guitarist in The Damned, Lu joined PiL in 1986 recording and playing on the album "Happy?" and co-writing the album "9"', adding yet another dimension to the PiL sound. Bruce Smith - Drummer in The Pop Group and formerly of The Slits Bruce became percussionist for PiL in 1986 playing and recording on the albums "Happy?" and "9". Seen as a drumming virtuoso, Bruce brought his unique style into the fold. Scott Firth - A bass player/multi instrumentalist that has collaborated and played with a variety of top musicians and bands including Steve Winwood, John Martyn and Elvis Costello.

The approach to Portal's style of death metal has always tread the fine line between sheer madness and the intricately artful. Cinematic in scope, like a death metal interpretation of The Cabinet Of Dr. Cagliari or the death metal soundtrack to an ancient silent arthouse flick gone terribly awry, Portal have pretty much transcended the interpretation of what death metal should portray, and simply inverted and twisted it to no end. Even moreso on "Swarth". Almost serving as the missing link between Portal's previous abominations (namely "Seepia" and "Outre"), "Swarth" continues to bring the band's aesthetic to new disturbing levels of unease. Musically, "Swarth" is very labyrinth-like, very claustrophobic and suffocating where twisted counterpoint and scathing dissonance merge with earth scraping atmosphere to unveil the inevitable rising chaos. And as usual, with every Portal release, what is surely to divide and polarize death metal enthusiasts who either realize the substance, depth, and genius that Portal portray and the ones who simply cannot comprehend or understand the enigma that is Portal. And those who continue to be indifferent and can't seem to form any kind of opinion or expression because Portal's music is so fucked, uneasy, and just wrong in a way that it continues to push and tear the boundaries of extremity within death metal like no other band can through the filth, mire, and the utter crawling chaos that unearths itself through each chapter that creates a Portal release as a whole. Nonetheless, no death metal band has created such debate and dialogue as Portal have, and surely with "Swarth," such debate and dialogue will no doubt continue, confuse, and perplex. Nonetheless, this is how Portal's music, in a way, thrives.

Inspired by the video game soundtracks of celebrated Japanese artist Manabu Namiki, Lopatin's arrangement "Bullet Hell Abstraction" deconstructs both the sonic and visual aesthetic of Japanese video games. Commissions II includes selections that he recorded for the performance, which was commissioned by Redbull Music Academy and originally premiered at Womb, Tokyo (November 2014). With affection for the original piece, Lopatin composed and performed live a reimagined soundtrack to Koji Morimoto's historic anime film Magnetic Rose. In collaboration with Lopatin, Robert Beatty produced the cover artwork layout, and the packaging features TBC (black foil print jacket) with die cut view of inner sleeve.

Offshore is the alias of Scottish producer Ewan Robertson. Ewan died unexpectedly in December 2012 while undergoing heart surgery for treatment of his Marfan Syndrome. Born in Aberdeen in 1985, Ewan was both a celebrated musician and graphic designer. He first picked up a guitar aged 10 and by 14 had formed his first grunge band, Incendo. Moving to London in 2002 to study at Central Saint Martins, he joined experimental art rock group Lark and played with the band until 2011. While studying, he began working part-time as a graphic designer at Big Dada. After graduating he and design partner Oscar Bauer continued to work closely with the label, creating iconic artworks such as Wiley’s Playtime Is Over, Roots Manuva’s Slime & Reason and Bonobo’s Black Sands. His first release as Offshore came out on the Scottish label, Stuff in 2009 and Ewan was signed to Big Dada as an artist in 2010. He released two EPs on the label, Aneurysm and Pacer, and in 2012 produced his first album, Bake Haus. Ewan was working on the Offshore album when he died in December 2012. This release has been pieced together as close to Ewan’s intentions as we could manage. The album artwork is based on two of Ewan’s previous ideas, a design for a vinyl outer sleeve for a Big Dada tenth anniversary release and another project replicating landscapes through a simplified screen printing technique. Ewan was an exceptionally brilliant, witty and gentle person whose warmth, humour and grace touched everyone who knew him. He is fiercely loved and missed by his family and friends, who continue to be constantly inspired by him and his life.

Downloadcode. Yes, double stars do exist. They are a reality. They appear in the firmament – sometimes as an optical and sometimes as a physical phenomenon. Two celestial bodies, working in relation to each other, circling around each other, responding to each other, both in a delicate balance. There are many more double stars than one might otherwise expect. Indeed, as many as four of them will appear in the coming days, and in the course of the year there will be a total of thirteen. And even if it sometimes seems like it, the double stars we are referring to here have not fallen from the sky. Barbara Morgenstern, the great Berlin composer, lyricist, musician and choir director, has found them, formed them and let them rain down upon us like a meteor shower. There is something almost divine about it. "Beide", of course, is German for "both". And a double star is a "Doppelstern" – to Barbara Morgenstern's enchanting "Morning Star". Three years after her previous English-language album "Sweet Silence", Barbara Morgenstern is in possession of a marvellous new metaphor for a shining new principle for her work. The concept was actually a hint from Justus Köhncke, who appears on this pre-album EP "Beide" right with the very first track "Übermorgen" – thus forming a wonderfully bright double star with her. This vocal duet can truly be described as a physical phenomenon, which shall soon also accompany us in the ether, in other words: On the radio. Then over to the next star, Robert Lippok, with whom Morgenstern has crossed paths on numerous occasions over the course of her career: They seem to dreamily revolve around each other elliptically. Their interaction on the piece "Scrambler" therefore requires no words, as this electronic instrumental clearly shows. "Gleich ist gleicher als gleich" took shape in the studio of the musician Lucretia Dalt, previously of Barcelona, now in Berlin, and appears on this EP – like with "Übermorgen" – in a longer version than on the upcoming album. Finally, "Kein Weg" was created in the studio of Schneider TM, and is the most intense and kraut-oriented track on this EP. Nine more of these double star manifestations will follow later this summer on the "Doppelstern" LP, each of which originated in different studios, across continents and across neighborhoods. The mixes for all the tracks were completed by T.Raumschmiere, which brings high coherence to the most diverse of constellations. It holds together well - one might even say: Almost like a solar system. Do not miss this celestial phenomenon under any circumstances
