The founding member of the Slowcore Americana collective took a quick hand over the phone and contacted the owner of a bar In LA called The Love Song. Soon one agreed, and Spain from then on every Tuesday evening between May 2016 and March 2017 in the Love Song. "It's a part of the historic Regent Theater, built in 1924, the room oozes old school charm and classic martinis. It's like being in a movie noir movie! "Josh says about the bar. "One of the things we started doing on tour in Europe. It was fun for us. No two shows were alike. I took this idea and expanded it to our L.A. Residency, "said Josh. Over the course of the year, Spain (consisting of Josh Haden, guitarist Kenny Lyon, keyboardist / guitarist Shon Sullivan and drummer Danny Frankel) were invited by guests such as the Grammy nominated jazz guitarist Bill Frisell, Sun Ra drummer Craig Haynes, violinist and singer Petra Haden (Josh's sister), Best Coast guitarist Bobb Bruno, ex-Circle Jerks multi-instrumentalist Zander Schloss, the former Macy Gray saxophonist Matt DeMerritt and Lili Haydn on the violin. During Spain's past Europatour, the skilled jazz bassist began to show the shows with his portable live recorder. Back in L.A. he also tried to implement this for the Love Song shows and got support from music producer Nate Pottker. The result was so overwhelming that Spain released a couple of these recordings on their Bandcamp site: "I began posting these recordings to the Spain bandcamp page and our European record label." We want to put that on vinyl! ' ". "Nate and I went even further", Josh continues, "I'm going to be the best song ever. Some of our greatest moments with Bill Frisell, Petra Haden, Bobb Bruno and others are on this record. I did not want to put any effects on the tracks or try to make it sound like a studio album. Classics on Karthago Records. Reissue of the album „Don't Look Down“ by the Canadian Heavy Metal Band TOUCHDOWN. Limited Edition of 500 copies (handnumbered), with certificate and hologram. We have to go back to the early 80s to find the roots of the canadian band TOUCHDOWN. In 1984 they released their debut album via Woolfe Records. To complete the line-up, Dave Temple, Perry Segal and Gary Hurley found a really good female vocalist, which was a rare stroke of luck. Terry Kushner had a strong powerful voice and so the title song "Don't look down" and opener of the album normally would have been enough to convince everybody to buy the album. But if you have a look on the cover artwork it will be obvious that it could have been not clear for the people that TOUCHDOWN were into melodic Heavy Metal. So finally not too many people put it on their turntable. The distribution worked more or less satisfying, but in the end sadly Canada was far from being the centre of the Metal world in that time. By listening to "Don't look down" today it is apparent that the band found a quite unique style and still is really worth an investigation today.
