Robert Hood will explore the Floorplan concept in a more expansive style on the forthcoming album Paradise. Floorplan is Hood’s attempt to marry the minimalist techno approach he’s pioneered with elements of house, disco, funk and gospel;
the project was founded in 1996 with the Funky Souls 12″, the first record released on his own Drama imprint, and was explored intermittently over a subsequent six year period before entering dormancy. Interest in the Floorplan project was reignited after Rush Hour reissued the long deleted Funky Souls 12″ in 2010, with Hood himself inspired to begin recording new material under the name, releasing a pair of 12″s on M Plant that featured bonafide gems such as “We Magnify His Name”. It’s productions such as these that have arguably aligned the side project alongside Hood’s respected discography of work under his given name in the popularity stakes, making a full album of Floorplan material an intriguing prospect. Some ten tracks long, Paradise is a mixture of all new material and tracks culled from these recent M Plant 12″ releases, lending the album a sense of continuity. The news effectively means Hood has released one album a year since 2009, when M Plant reissued his classic 1994 Axis Records LP Minimal Nation, a fact made all the more impressive given the highly conceptual nature of each subsequent album.

STELLAR OM SOURCE's new album, "Joy One Mile", marks a certain and spirited departure into worlds unknown. A faithful leap into the infinite beat, "Joy One Mil" is the most forward-reaching effort by STELLAR OM SOURCE yet. STELLAR OM SOURCE originated from Christelle Gualdi's desire to unhinge from her academic musical upbringing. A double bassist in the Konigin Katharina Stift Schulorchester and a student of music theory at Université Paris VIII, Gualdi completed her studies in electro-acoustic composition at the Conservatoire de Paris after earning an architecture degree. The process of Gualdi's "unlearning" began in experimental ensemble settings, and it became more recognizable as she moved toward solo performance. STELLAR OM SOURCE's name is fittingly inspired in part by the pathway to higher consciousness and cosmos via one's own voice. Gualdi was also inspired by-and also an integral member of-the late aughts DIY synthesizer community. Alongside ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER, EMERALDS and JAMES FERRARO, STELLAR OM SOURCE's stream of self-released CDRs defined a zeitgeist of artists trending away from their noisy roots via polyphonic escapism. The singularity of Gualdi's compositions, when pulled back and recalibrated even slightly, resemble early era Warp Records, and, by that admission, the wayward electro of early-90s Detroit. The abstractions in Gualdi's programming and mutant melodies is what keeps Joy One Mile perfectly relegated to outsider status, akin to the primitive techno of Esplendor Geometrico and Chris & Cosey. "Joy One Mile" was mixed and arranged by techno legend Kassem Mosse.

Seeds" is the second Nullgrad album, and quite a step onward for them. Possibly the label's boldest foray into techno territory yet, it charts new territories of deep, heartfelt electronic music, always on the verge of clubcompatibility and superb home listening. The leitmotifs of "Seeds" are Buddhist monks' chants and the sounds of weather - not samples, but actual field recordings taken by Matthias on his extensive travels of Southeast Asia, giving the album an attractive uniqueness. Delivered from its celestial womb to the human world for inevitable elevation, Tactile Galactics is the new album by Secret Circuit, the experimental dance music moniker and cosmic interface for Los Angeles artist Eddie Ruscha Jr. Amongst his earliest musical endeavors, Ruscha co-founded Medicine, an overlooked four piece whose sinister, snarling take on shoegaze landed them as the first American signing to Creation Records. After leaving Medicine without a bad taste in his mouth, Ruscha's focus shifted from his shoes to the endless array of LA music stores housing analog synthesizers, drum machines and effect units forsaken at the advent of digital technology. While establishing his Secret Circuit identity through various self-releases, Ruscha was a wingman in notable projects with Thomas Bullock (Rub 'N' Tug) as Laughing Light of Plenty and with DJ Harvey as Food For Gods. Ruscha likens his studio obsession to "striving for alien sound or rhythm that feels natural." Between 2011 and 2012, Ruscha released no less than four albums, a 12" for Prins Thomas' Internasjonal Spesial label, a handful of blazing mixes on the Cosmic Papers cassette tape series, and his debut for Beats In Space Records, the Nebula Sphynx / Parascopic Rope 12". Ever the unsettled settler, Ruscha consciously crafted the bulk of Tactile Galactics' tracks at 120 beats per minute. Ruscha played with the equalizing value of this boilerplate dance music BPM in much the same way a DJ might - to set a clear course for transcendence. Tactile Galactics is derived from a dance lineage promoting feel over form;
rhythmically explored without abandon - or audience - in mind by the krautrock fringe, put to the slow motion disco test at Daniele Baldelli's Cosmic Club, jacked into a House format via the Chicago imprint TRAX and honored today via peer psychonauts like Hieroglyphic Being and Lindstrom. Tactile Galactics unleashes the lysergic choir of voices in Ruscha's head against a dance grid, but makes sure it stays in soulful step. For the first time on a Secret Circuit recording, these voices are quite literally present via Ruscha's own vocals, added when "the song called for them." It's by this same regard of the powerful unknown that makes Tactile Galactics Secret Circuit's most incomprehensibly detailed and stunning release to date
