The gangster rappers Gibbs and Alchemist with high-calibre guests such as Tyler, The Creator, Rick Ross, Benny The Butcher and Conway the Machine. Freddie Gibbs (Freddie Tipton, born 1982) is a gangsta rapper from Gary, Indiana. His pseudonym comes from the protagonist of the Blaxploitation film Black Caesar. Freddie Gibbs grew up in the city of Gary, which was affected by high unemployment and crime rates. Early on he dealt with drugs and was guilty of illegal possession of firearms. In 2004 Gibbs began to seriously engage in rap and released two mixtapes that same year. Many of the songs recorded during this period were featured on the highly acclaimed mixtapes The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs and midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik, named after albums by Lauryn Hill and OutKast respectively, in 2009. Freddie Gibbs recorded two collaboration albums with producer Madlib. According to ByteFM Gibbs and Madlib, "Piñata" is supposed to "bring out the best in its counterpart".
