Penicillin on Wax contains more of the same, as Tim trashes everybody from Kwame to Michel'le to Eddie Murphy. Because of her troubled family history she was looking for an escape of reality. After surviving a heroin addiction and a brief stint as a bank robber, Sill turned her rather intense passions to music. She released two albums and partially completed a third album before her death in 1979. Sill's music was complex, elegantly crafted and yet completely devoid of pretension or overwrought melodrama. Unfairly lumped in with other female, proto-adult contemporary songwriters like Joni Mitchell or Carole King, Sill was much closer in spirit to Brian Wilson, Nick Drake, or one her idols, J.S. Bach. She had a gift for making very complicated things sound simple, beautiful. The second album Judee Sill made, proved to be her last. Instead of using an outside arranger for the strings for her album Heart Food (as she did on her previous album), Sill did all of the work herself.

"?" -?- (German for "question mark") is the second album by German pop-rock band Nena. It was released in 1984, just a year after the band's first album Nena. Like its self-titled predecessor, this album was produced by Reinhold Heil and Manne Praeker of Spliff. The album's title track was co-written by Nena and the band's keyboard player Jörn-Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen. It reached #3 in the German charts in 1983. The lyrics - written by Nena - comprise the thoughts of someone racked by indecisiveness ("Today I'm coming, today I'm also going..Perhaps I'll stay, Yesterday that wasn't for me, Today I need endless love"). The song is a mainstay of Nena's live concerts and seems to be particularly popular with female fans although it is not uncommon for Nena to interrupt her performance of the song, apparently to laugh at the absurdity of the lyrics. Two more singles were spawned;
"Rette Mich" and "Lass Mich Dein Pirat Sein". Fragezeichen -?- reached the number 1 spot in the German, Swiss and Austrian album charts and was certified platinum.

180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL MUSIC FROM THE HIT TV SHOW "DAKTARI" A SCORE FOCUSED ON PERCUSSION AND AFRICAN SOUND Cut in the birth pangs of electric fusion and afro-funk, West Coast drummer Shelly Manne's brilliant score for the popular '60's TV series Daktari still stands as a global fusion landmark. Daktari is an album by drummer Shelly Manne recorded in 1967 featuring music from Daktari. The heavy use of the marimba with various percussion instruments serves the score well and makes it a huge success. On the album, Mike Wofford plays a tack piano to evoke an African sound, and Manne is joined by percussionists Emil Richards, Larry Bunker, Frank Carlson, and Victor Feldman. According to the record liner notes, Manne and fellow percussionists play ankle and wrist jingles, Thai mouth organs, angklungs, ocarinas, vibraphones, tympani, and different kinds of marimbas. Steely Dan guitarist Walter Becker was a fan of the album's 'vaguely African' music, sounding like it came from "Hollywood session players" rather than actual Africans. In the late 1990s, Becker modelled a percussion sequence after this style on the song "Two Against Nature" released on the Steely Dan album of the same name.

However, no recordings were released until Basta did include two versions on Manhattan Research, Inc. The track became one of Scott's most popular electronic compositions: The track was recently featured in the Netflix hit-series Narcos (S2E10), opens the documentary "Best Of Enemies" and underscored a recent Gucci ad campaign. Hundreds of videos on YouTube and Vimeo use this composition as a soundtrack. So like with many of Scott's compositions underscoring countless WB's cartoons, chances are one has heard this tune without realizing it was Scott's music. On this album "Portofino" is interpreted by 20 artists, each version uniquely arranged, recorded and produced in an array of styles: surf guitar, whistling, electronica, chamber ensemble, minimalism, pop, rock guitar, and scat vocals. There are even two song versions with original lyrics, as well as two Scott original recordings that are only present on this vinyl version. The album features contributions from none other than Fay Lovsky, Jacco Gardner, JB Meijers (Common Linnets), Aim, Arling &
Cameron, Metropole Orchestra and Davide Rossi, who worked with Goldfrapp, Coldplay, The Verve and many more. A couple of other artists make their recording debut on the album. The result is a nice blend of recordings, with so much variation;
it's easy to forget sometimes one is listening to the same composition. The album cover art was adapted from a 1962 unpublished painting entitled "Portofino" by noted artist/illustrator James (Jim) Flora. The original Flora painting is reproduced in the LP's gatefold.

RED MIXED VINYL As a 19-person big band formation, New Cool Collective has worked on many different projects, like the annual opening of Amsterdam's Uitmarkt, Guus Meeuwis's record Hollandse Meesters as well as a string of albums. Now they are back with a new album recorded together with Senegalese saxophonist Thierno Koité of Orchestra Baobab / Le Sahel. During a tour and recording session in Senegal in 2013, New Cool Collective met up with Thierno Koité after an Orchestra Baobab concert. New Cool have been longtime fans of Thierno's characteristic style and timing, and Koité was a huge inspiration during the Senegal tour. The musicians exchanged phone numbers and in 2016 they added a new dimension to their connection. Combining forces they found the funds to organize three concerts and a recording session with Thierno in The Netherlands, eventually resulting in a complete album. The first 750 copies are individually numbered and pressed on coloured vinyl.

After the sixth Mink DeVille album, Willy goes solo with Miracle, working together with Mark Knopfler. The song "Storybook Love" becomes a hit because of the film The Princess' Bride. After a musical journey, DeVille scores a hit with his "Hey Joe" cover in 1992. His last album Pistola is released in 2008. A year later, Willy DeVille dies of pancreatic cancer age 58.
