Former Golden Earring's drummer Jaap Eggermont as producer and guitarist George Kooymans provided Livin' Blues with their first single "Murphy McCoy". Their style was beefy blues rock, tough and swinging which further developed with "Wang Dang Doodle", "L.B. Boogie", "Boogie Woogie Woman" and resulted in working with famous producer Mike Vernon who had studio time with celebrities like John Mayall and Fleetwood Mac. On the double vinyl album included are B side singles like "My Sister Kate", "One Night Blues", album tracks "Bamboozle", "Diving Duck Blues" and many more Dutch blues songs taken from their vast repertoire. The Golden Years of Dutch Pop Music is a new Music On Vinyl series of compilation albums by Dutch bands that were not only ground-breaking and successful in the sixties and seventies in the Netherlands but also far beyond the Dutch borders. Each double album collects the most important original A sides and a selection of B side singles. Remastered audio for vinyl, redesigned artwork, including English liner notes and where possible the albums are completed with relevant album tracks

Produced by Steve Thompson, the album signalled a considerable shift from the hardcore and groove metal sounds which defined their 1993 debut album. The band ditched the gang vocals and instead let Keith (now Mina) display his newly developed crooning. Keith's new expressive style sounds more emotive and is perhaps more at heart with the era's alternative bands and it suits UGLY perfectly. Musically, this album is a pretty interesting hybrid. The first half of the album opener "Seasons" shows Keith's vocals glide quietly over the top, only to break into higher notes more frequently as the song progresses into the soaring second half. This opening track is a strong introduction to the bands new sound. The album also features the band's trademark pulverizing riffs as heard in "I Regret", "Damned If I Do" and "Fears", the gang vocals and double-kick drumming has been completely omitted. Songs like "Lost At 22," and "How It Would Be" all feel profound. "Drained" shows the serious hooks and "Let's Pretend" is a ballad written to Keith's mother who died shortly after his birth. The album ends with a rendition of Simple Minds"Don't You Forget About Me" that arguably kicked off the trend of Roadrunner bands doing novelty covers. It unquestionably belongs in the collection of anyone who has a love for quality 90s-era alternative rock music. The uglier the better!

180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL SECOND ALBUM BY "GENERALLY ACCLAIMED AS FUSION'S GREATEST DRUMMER" BILLY COBHAM Billy Cobham is a Panamanian-American jazz drummer who came to prominence in the late 60s and early 70s with trumpeter Miles Davis and with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. According to AllMusic's reviewer, Cobham is "generally acclaimed as fusion's greatest drummer". He was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013. Crosswinds is the second album by Cobham. The album was originally released in 1974. It comprises four songs, all composed by Billy Cobham. It was used as the basis for the Souls of Mischief's hit song "93 'til Infinity". Billy Cobham's second date as a leader was one of his better sessions. Four songs (all originals by the leader/drummer) comprise "Spanish Moss -- A Sound Portrait," and, in addition, Cobham contributed three other pieces. The selections team him with guitarist John Abercrombie, both of the Brecker Brothers, trombonist Garnett Brown, keyboardist George Duke, bassist John Williams, and Latin percussionist Lee Pastora. In general, the melodies and the vamps are reasonably memorable. Cobham also takes an unaccompanied drum solo on "Storm". A photo taken by Billy Cobham himself is used for the cover art;
it wraps around the spine to comprise both the front and back cover. Definitely a worthy album for fusion collectors!

The album contains 11 songs which she describes as "the contrast between the lighthearted teenage years and the life now, in the world now". All songs were written by Jacqueline and Mitchell Froom with whom she previously worked on her last album Songs To Soothe. Froom made his mark working together with Sheryl Crow, Crowded House, Paul McCartney and Triggerfinger amongst others. Jacqueline Govaert is a Dutch singer, songwriter, and pianist. She is best known as the leader of Dutch band Krezip. After Krezip disbanded in 2009, Govaert started a solo music career. Govaert wrote her first songs on the piano at age 12. She graduated from the Dutch Rockacademy in Tilburg. Prior to that, she had started the band Krezip in high school. In 1997, Krezip played at events such as Lowlands and Pinkpop. Govaert was the band's main songwriter. She was also the band's pianist until guitarist Annelies Kuijsters was forced to take over this role, having lost her ability to play guitar after a severe injury. Govaert enjoyed giving up her role as pianist, noting "...now I can concentrate on my performance." Govaert served as a featured artist on tracks of the music project Ayreon, Dutch band Relax (on the album Odeur de Clochard), Armin van Buuren and Fernando Lameirinhas. Govaert also co-wrote, with singer Alain Clark, the song "Wherever I Go", which was used in the Dutch Senseo commercial and then released as a single.

The group's tight song structure and use of heavy distortion were hailed as very influential by many critics and musicians alike. The band is considered the first Pacific Northwest punk band. The Circle is their sixth studio album, originally released in 1988. It was released on Restless Records and has been out of press for years. There are a lot of good tunes present on this album. "True Believer" has a great riff balanced on the tempo of the track, and "Make Or Break" is lingering on the powerful guitar play by Sage, which can be identified between thousands. There's lots of other good tunes here as well, especially "I Want a Way", "Goodbye Again", and the title track. "The Circle" might be slow enough to qualify as a ballad, but the track "Be There" is the real tearjerker.

Ananda Shankar is the debut album by the Indian musician, the son of dancer and choreographer Uday Shankar and the nephew of Indian classical musician Ravi Shankar. It was released in 1970 and was among the first works in the rock genre by an Indian musician. Consisting mainly of instrumental recordings featuring sitar and Moog synthesizer, it includes a cover version of the Rolling Stones' 1968 hit song "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and a thirteen-minute Indian-style piece titled "Sagar (The Ocean)". In the decades since the LP's release, "Jumpin' Jack Flash" became a popular club hit, while the album has been recognised for its influence on world music fusion, particularly the East-West styles developed in the UK. It is one of the albums featured in Robert Dimery's book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. In 2005, his song "Raghupati" was used in the game Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories soundtrack.

After all, the title of the lead single "Chicken Strut" intentionally recalls their previous biggest "Cissy Strut," and it has the same basic Meters groove. And if the essential sound remains unchanged, that's because that organic, earthy funk is The Meters' signature. Other groups have tried to replicate it, but nobody ever played it better. It was on this album The Meters introduced vocals to their style as well, with Art Neville's leads on covers of Ty Hunter's soulful uptown shuffle "Darling, Darling, Darling," Jimmy Webb's groovy ballad "Wichita Lineman," and Lee Dorsey's "Ride Your Pony" (the Meters provided support on the original recording).
