Electric Monkey Sessions 2 is the highly anticipated follow up to their critically acclaimed 2014 album Electric Monkey Sessions 1. The eight-piece band have, again, recorded the follow-up to EMS 1 in the Electric Monkey studios in Amsterdam. Their goal was to obtain a raw and more analogue sound. Recordings took place in the purest form;
everyone gathered in the studio room at the same time, a couple of microphones, a few takes, straight to tape. The analogue spacedubs by studio owner/engineer Kasper Frenkel completed the vintage feeling. The result? The Crusade was certified silver in the U.K. for sales in excess of 60,000 copies. The album peaked at number 7 in the UK. 180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL INCLUDES INSERT THE BAND'S SECOND ALBUM INCLUDING TRACKS "LET'S PRETEND" AND "I REGRET" Ugly is the second album released by the New York alternative metal band Life of Agony. Produced by Steve Thompson, the album signalled a considerable shift from the hardcore and groove metal sounds which defined their 1993 debut album. The band ditched the gang vocals and instead let Keith (now Mina) display his newly developed crooning. Keith's new expressive style sounds more emotive and is perhaps more at heart with the era's alternative bands and it suits UGLY perfectly. Musically, this album is a pretty interesting hybrid. The first half of the album opener "Seasons" shows Keith's vocals glide quietly over the top, only to break into higher notes more frequently as the song progresses into the soaring second half. This opening track is a strong introduction to the bands new sound. The album also features the band's trademark pulverizing riffs as heard in "I Regret", "Damned If I Do" and "Fears", the gang vocals and double-kick drumming has been completely omitted. Songs like "Lost At 22," and "How It Would Be" all feel profound. "Drained" shows the serious hooks and "Let's Pretend" is a ballad written to Keith's mother who died shortly after his birth. The album ends with a rendition of Simple Minds"Don't You Forget About Me" that arguably kicked off the trend of Roadrunner bands doing novelty covers. It unquestionably belongs in the collection of anyone who has a love for quality 90s-era alternative rock music. The uglier the better!

They are a Dutch quintet led by pianist Cees Slinger and were based as a resident band at the famous "Sheherazade" jazz- club in Amsterdam. They enjoyed quite a popularity. Playing all over Holland, accompanying expatriate American musicians on their visits to Amsterdam and even made a trip to the international jazz festival in Antibes on the French Riviera. The quintet stayed at the "Zade" for four years. Many guests appeared with it, notably Stan Getz, organist Lou Benneth and many other famous American musicians who were doing concerts in Holland and who took the opportunity to come to the "Zade" to jam with the Diamond Five members: practically all the musicians in Quincy Jones's ill-fated 'Free and Easy' band, Elvin Jones, Roy Eldridge, Jay Jay Johnson and many more. However, when the club closed its doors due to a shift in popular interest from jazz to rock music, the quintet disbanded soon after. The musicians are unique in their style, as Slinger plays sparse notes on his piano and tenor saxophonist Harry Verbeke solos are filled with a multitude of notes. Cees Smal playing different horns, while the bass and drum player support it by keeping it tight and bluesy. Highlights are "Johnny's Birthday", "Lutuli", by composer Ruud Bos and the final track "Monosyl, composed by Cees Smal are all included on their first full length album. A spell at Count Ossie's camp in Wareika Hills introduced him to the Rasta faith and a new approach to music, which he later introduced to his studio work. In 1961, he emigrated to London, where he became a regular on growing the UK West Indian music scene, cutting numerous sides for every Jamaican music maker of note, including Trojan's in-house producer, Robert Thompson aka Dandy. Dandy duly paired the trombonist with Britain leading reggae group, The Rudies, with the collaboration spawning an array of singles and the immensely popular album, Blow Your Horn, released by Trojan late in 1969. After Eskimo was released The Residents responded to the furor of fuss and praise it generated by taking various bits out of the album and re-working them to a disco parody of the original, this created Diskomo. The Residents had long planned to produce a children's record -- of sorts. Goosebump is a collection of Mother Goose rhymes set to music with all of the "original sinister overtones" left in place. They teamed up with their longtime collaborator Snakefinger and recorded the songs using only musical instruments. Although children's toys were used to produce the music, The Residents' grown-up toys were used afterwards in the mixing of the recording. We are proud to bring you the expanded edition of the Diskomo / Goosebump E.P. ! This 'new' version has no less than 3 bonus tracks: "Diskomo 1992", "Diskomo 2000" abd "Twinkle 2000". Former Golden Earring's drummer Jaap Eggermont as producer and guitarist George Kooymans provided Livin' Blues with their first single "Murphy McCoy". Their style was beefy blues rock, tough and swinging which further developed with "Wang Dang Doodle", "L.B. Boogie", "Boogie Woogie Woman" and resulted in working with famous producer Mike Vernon who had studio time with celebrities like John Mayall and Fleetwood Mac. On the double vinyl album included are B side singles like "My Sister Kate", "One Night Blues", album tracks "Bamboozle", "Diving Duck Blues" and many more Dutch blues songs taken from their vast repertoire. The Golden Years of Dutch Pop Music is a new Music On Vinyl series of compilation albums by Dutch bands that were not only ground-breaking and successful in the sixties and seventies in the Netherlands but also far beyond the Dutch borders. Each double album collects the most important original A sides and a selection of B side singles. Remastered audio for vinyl, redesigned artwork, including English liner notes and where possible the albums are completed with relevant album tracks

180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL INCLUDES INSERT THE BAND'S SECOND ALBUM INCLUDING TRACKS "LET'S PRETEND" AND "I REGRET" LIMITED EDITION OF 1500 NUMBERED COPIES ON GOLD VINYL Ugly is the second album released by the New York alternative metal band Life of Agony. Produced by Steve Thompson, the album signalled a considerable shift from the hardcore and groove metal sounds which defined their 1993 debut album. The band ditched the gang vocals and instead let Keith (now Mina) display his newly developed crooning. Keith's new expressive style sounds more emotive and is perhaps more at heart with the era's alternative bands and it suits UGLY perfectly. Musically, this album is a pretty interesting hybrid. The first half of the album opener "Seasons" shows Keith's vocals glide quietly over the top, only to break into higher notes more frequently as the song progresses into the soaring second half. This opening track is a strong introduction to the bands new sound. The album also features the band's trademark pulverizing riffs as heard in "I Regret", "Damned If I Do" and "Fears", the gang vocals and double-kick drumming has been completely omitted. Songs like "Lost At 22," and "How It Would Be" all feel profound. "Drained" shows the serious hooks and "Let's Pretend" is a ballad written to Keith's mother who died shortly after his birth. The album ends with a rendition of Simple Minds"Don't You Forget About Me" that arguably kicked off the trend of Roadrunner bands doing novelty covers. It unquestionably belongs in the collection of anyone who has a love for quality 90s-era alternative rock music. The uglier the better!
