J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.): Live at CBGB'S: FIRST ACOUSTIC SHOW "My first ever acoustic performance, and I'm a little freaked out." With those words, then-Dinosaur Jr. frontman J Mascis kicked off the show on this live set (recorded in December 1993), in which the man who'd made his name with bludgeoning volume and über-heavy electric guitar freakouts quietly stripped his songs down to their framework for an evening. While Mascis would get more comfortable with such things over the passage of time, for a first-time gig in an unfamiliar format, Live At CBGB's sounds surprisingly confident and coherent. Presented in their simplest form, Mascis' songs display a tuneful elegance that sometimes gets lost when pumped through a stack of Marshalls (especially "Not the Same," "What Else Is New," and "Keeblin'"), and while on the first few numbers he tends to overemphasize the natural drawl in his voice, by the end of the show Mascis is in admirable form as both a guitarist and a singer. The first pressing of Live At CBGB's consists of 1500 numbered copies on silver/black marbled vinyl!

Riot City Blues is the eighth studio album by Primal Scream, released in 2006. On this album, Primal Scream leaves its electronic element behind and returns to more traditional Rock & Roll. The album features Will Sergeant (Echo & the Bunnymen) on "When The Bomb Drops" and "Little Death", Warren Ellis (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Dirty Three) on "Hell's Coming Down" and Alison Mosshart (The Kills) adding vocals to "Dolls (Sweet Rock and Roll)" and "Suicide Sally & Johnny Guitar". One can hear traces of not only the Small Faces but everything from early Alice Cooper (à la Killer) to Mott the Hoople, David Bowie, the Kinks, the New York Dolls, and a whole lot of other Rock & Roll bands. The debut single, "Country Girl", became the band's highest charting in their career, while the album charted at #5 in the UK. "Dolls (Sweet Rock and Roll)" and "Sometimes I Feel So Lonely" were also released as singles in 2006.

Volunteered Slavery is a classic Jazz album by multiinstrumentalist Roland Kirk, featuring his 1968 Newport Jazz Festival appearance and studio performances recorded in July 1969. It features performances by Kirk with Ron Burton, Vernon Martin, Jimmy Hopps and Joe Habao Texidor, Charles McGhee, Dick Griffith, Sonny Brown, Charles Crosby and the Roland Kirk Spirit Choir. Rahsaan Roland Kirk could play more than one wind instrument at once. Apart from clarinets and flutes, his main instruments were tenor saxophone and two obscure saxophones: the stritch and the manzello. He modified these instruments himself to accommodate his simultaneous playing technique. He is also noted for his circular breathing technique and was reportedly able to sustain a note for over an hour. At the time of recording Volunteered Slavery, Kirk was exploring ways in which to make Soul and R&B rub up against Jazz and come out sounding like party mu sic. From the Bluesy title track, through the creative choir jam on "Spirits Up Above" to covers of "My Cherie Amour", "I Say A Little Prayer" and the Coltrane medley of "Afro Blue", "Lush Life" and "Bessie's Blues", Kirk sets it all in context. He proves that he is indeed the master of any music he plays because of his sense of harmony, rhythm, and melody.

Sing Me a Song of Songmy (subtitled "A Fantasy For Electromagnetic Tape") is a moving anti-war statement by Jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard and Turkish musician Ilhan Mimaroglu, released in 1971. It was Hubard's third album released on the Atlantic label and features performances by Hubbard, tenor saxophonist Junior Cook, pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Art Booth and drummer Louis Hayes. The album also features a chorus, strings, recitations of poems by Fazil Husnu Daglarca and other texts, organists and tape-based musique concrète. It is one of Hubbard's most experimental albums, boasting a variety of processed sounds emanating from tapes. Ilhan Mimaroglu was a musician and electronic music composer. He was born in Istanbul, Turkey, and moved to the United States working as a producer for Atlantic Records, where he created his own record label, Finnadar Records, in 1971. He also was the producer for Charles Mingus' Changes One [MOVLP701] and Changes Two [MOVLP856], as well as Federico Fellini's Satyricon

Country-pop singer Ilse DeLange emerged as one of the most successful Dutch artists of her generation with her charttopping 1998 debut, World Of Hurt [MOVLP938]. Rumors of a new album were heard in mid 2000. The first single "Livin' On Love" was released in October, after which her sophomore studio album Livin' On Love was released. The album was a musical departure from her debut, leaning more toward Pop/Rock. With this album, Ilse gained even more State-side interest due to her covers of 2 songs by popular American singer/songwriters Buddy and Julie Miller ("I Still Cry" and "Ride The Wind To Me"), and other songs written by Patty Larkin, Jude Cole and Wayne Kirkpatrick. Alison Krauss also provided guest vocals. The album is produced by Barry Beckett (Bob Dylan & Joe Cocker a.o). In 2001 DeLange started her Livin' On Love Tour, performing in many theaters and concert halls throughout her home country. She won an Edison Award for best Dutch artist in 2000. The album has never been released on vinyl before - which makes a first pressing of 500 numbered copies on white vinyl all the more special!

Garden State is a 2004 comedy-drama film written and directed by Zach Braff and starring Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard, Ian Holm and Braff himself. The film centers on Andrew Largeman (Braff), a 26-year-old actor/waiter who returns to his hometown in New Jersey after his mother dies. Braff based the fi lm on his real life experiences. Garden State was well received and has garnered a cult following. The music that accompanied the film was hand-picked by Zach Braff. Commenting on the selections, Braff said that "Essentially, I made a mix CD with all of the music that I felt was scoring my life at the time I was writing the screenplay." The music in the film features a number of Indie Rock artists, notably The Shins. In an early scene, Sam passes Andrew a headset which is playing the song "New Slang" by The Shins as she says "You gotta hear this one song - it'll change your life;
I swear." Writer, actor and director Zack Braff was awarded a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for a Motion Picture for his work on the soundtrack album. The album has sold over 1.3 million copies and has been certifi ed as platinum by the RIAA. Now, 10 year after the original release, Garden State is presented to you for the fi rst time on vinyl! One of the two beautiful printed inner sleeves includes a print of a hand-written note from Braff, which he wrote especially for the 2014 vinyl release of the soundtrack

The Best Years Of Our Lives is an album by Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel released in March 1975. It was their first album that used Harley's name ahead of the band (the band was previously known simply as Cockney Rebel). This album was a big hit in Steve Harley's native England and on the mainland. The album contains the band's biggest hit, the million selling "Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)" and "Mr. Raffles". Other standout tracks include the driving rocker "The Mad, Mad Moonlight" and the acoustic ballad title track. The album was recorded and mixed at the EMI Studios, Abbey Road, London and Air Studios, London during November and December 1974. Alan Parsons produced the album. The Best Years Of Our Lives is a fine, slickly crafted album that will delight Steve Harley enthusiasts and will also appeal to fans of Glam-oriented 1970s English rock.
