"Closer To Heaven" is an album of songs from the Pet Shop Boys 2001 stage musical "Closer to Heaven", performed by the original London production cast. The album was released in October 2001. The musical was premiered in May 2001 at the Arts Theatre in London and ran until 13 October 2001, it features mainly songs written specifically for the occasion, some having appeared on Pet Shop Boys 1999 album "[m=28360]", but also "Shameless" which was originally released as the B-side of "[m=30702]" (1992). A single release of "Positive Role Model" was planned but eventually cancelled, with commissioned remixes appearing on "[r=191713]", "[r=1382283]" and "[r=1967887]".
