This compilation is made entirely of early 70s library music which was recorded for so called music libraries from whose stores, movie makers and TV producers could license certain titles for their productions. All original Italian stuff. The material grooves and steams throughout the whole record. There are mind ripping fuzzed out guitar leads take turns with easy to groove along and easy to enjoy tunes. Hottest library groove rock tunes from the early 70s & funk influenced exploito acid rock and beat. Each not gets played with an enormous passion and the simmering lead guitars are for sure not of this earth. We would surely know the one or another participating instrumentalist from some of the bigger Italian rock heroes of the era but I have no real clue who plays on this compilation except for the composers' and project leaders' names. Anyway, this will capture your soul and let you freak out throughout the whole playing time. Dance your mind away.

Limited vinyl edition of 300 copies on white black and brown vinyl. Just because Northwestern doom band Uzala have female vocals in front does not make them anything like buzz-band Windhand. Uzala's approach is far more sinister, going less the bluesy route and instead straight for the jugular with pained, noisy riffs beneath Darcy Nutt's ominous voice. (Noisey) Across the span, Uzala dole out churning riffs and slow-crawling malevolence, as Nutt recounts various medieval terrors, her voice cutting through the tonal morass of her bass and Remainsguitar, all poise and zero posturing, the overarching lurch of "Countess" from 2013's Tales of Blood and Fire setting the bar high as the set-opener for what's to follow. In their momentum, in their engagement with the crowd and in the dark red sense of psychedelia they brought to their material even on the stage, how raw it both was and wasn't, Uzala delivered one of that weekend's most memorable sets. Not everyone who listens to Live at Roadburn MMXV will have that associative framework - i.e. they won't all have been there - but I think the set stands up even if you didn't happen to be in front of the Green Room stage letting it punch you in the face. Roy Thompson & The Mellow Kings is a Rockin’ Rhythm & Blues band from France. The six musicians are all experienced veterans from the Rockin' Scene and well versed in roots, blues and rock'n'roll . After several years in Canada, where in 2003 Roy Thompson set up a band called Roy Thompson & His Royal Acadians and some tours in Canada, USA and Europe Roy (known as Olivier Laporte to his mom) decided to go back to Europe in 2005 and founded The Mellow Kings in 2010. Their influences range from Blues to Rhythm & Blues, from Swing to Rockin' 50's/early 60's sounds. Songs by artists such as Ike Turner, Ray Charles, T-Bone Walker, Larry Williams, Little Richard, Young Jessie, Junior Watson, Bobby Blue Bland and the Memphis sound, Freddie King, Johnny Otis, Guitar Junior and the Louisiana Style are in the Mellow Kings' live repertoire as well as many self-penned tunes. In 2012 they released their first album Back On Tracks which was released by Sleazy Records out of Spain. Promoting that album they played all the big festivals such as the Rockin’ Race in Spain, Rhythm Riot in England, Live & Jive Festival in Sweden, Cahors Blues Festival in France, Rock n Roll Festival in Disneyland Paris, Tremblay Blues in Paris, American Festival in Tours, the Rockin’ Horse Festival in Limoges, Blues en Loire in France, the Moondogs Festival and the Summer Jamboree in Italy, Let’s Get Wild Festival in Germany and The Firebirds Festival in Leipzig and gigs in Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Holland, Germany, England, Sweden and Spain... a huge tour in Europe backing up Gizzelle, the California Soul Diva from Los Angeles, in November 2013, July 2014 and August 2015 + Turnhout Festival in Belgium, Vintage Roots Festival in Milano, Festi Jump Blues in France, and Get Rhythm Go Wild in Germany. You get the idea... In the meantime new recordings were made which are being released on the German based Stag-O-Lee label in January 2016. The title of the album is 20 Days and it features tunes by Mike Pedicin, Little Richard, Bobby Bland, Aaron Neville, Otis Blackwell as well as a number of band compositions. In general the sound of the new album could be filed under New Breed – a kinda new genre that defines the music made between the late 50s and early 60s when Rhythm & Blues slowly morphed into Soul. It is a rockin' record with lots of sizzlin' guitars, great piano work and a powerful sax! The band's masterpiece so far. Go check it out!

Southern California's rising underground rock band SILVER SNAKES' 3rd album "Saboteur" finds the band delving further into a darker side of the human condition. The band continues their evolution of sound by incorporating influences of 0's industrial and elements of doom metal into their post-hardcore sound. The result is cathartic and innovative. Heavy, stabbing riffs crescendo into massive walls of guitars that give way to atmospheric and at times ethereal moments of calm that relay underlying messages of sabotage and deception. Formed in 2011, after vocalist, guitarist and main songwriter Alex Estrada's hardcore/crust band Cathedrals went defunct, SILVER SNAKES started an evolution that has blended his many influences, from Latin singer Lola Beltrán to bands like Godflesh and Ministry. So, not surprisingly, "Saboteur," finds Estrada experimenting with samples, synths and beats. "It's something I have always had an interest in, and it felt like a new challenge." Inspired by two alternative masterpieces: Nine Inch Nail's "The Downward Spiral" and Sleep's cult classic "Dopesmoker", the storyline interwoven with the music of "Saboteur" takes the listener through a pyrrhic victory of someone who, because of their own passions and goals, sabotages and manipulates for their own benefit and soon has to come face to face with the consequences of their actions.

Todd Rundgren’s pedigree had always been enforced by his playing ability, but in retrospect, his legacy also has a psychedelic foundation built with The Nazz whose own reputation was formed with Open My Eyes when it appeared on Lenny Kaye’s celebrated Nuggets series in 1972. 1977 saw the release of Oops! Wrong Planet with his band Utopia, in some ways, a return to the form he found with Nazz back in 1968. Utopia’s appearance at Brown University in Providence offers a departure from their more extravagant performances earlier in the year where strobes and lasers were applied to accompany the progressive fanfare for the Ra shows. Brown University witnessed a shift in his musical approach opening with Trapped. The familiar orchestral introduction misleads the audience and soon buckles under the weight of a riffing assault laid on by Rundgren’s terrifying and shredded Gibson attack. Antoine or Tonio Rubio has been an ever busy musician, composer and performer since the early 1960s in the French scene. He performed with LES GOLDEN STARS in the 60s and had gone solo by 1973 when he recorded this album. Black funk music from the dirty back roads of big American cities mixed with electric jazz and fusion rock that once was hot by the time it was initially developed out of the slowly fading free jazz of the later 1960s. Both directions join together on this record in an utterly captivating way making this album become a journey through landscapes of sound rather than a collection of musical pieces. The tunes are mostly instrumental with a few wordless choirs and voice performances thrown in here and there in support. This is a rather colourful record made to get you into the groove.
