Попавшие на неплодородную культурную почву позднего СССР и ранней Российской Федерации рок-семена, как известно, прорастали в большинстве случаев крайне далекими от оригинала всходами и давали диковинные плоды. И если столичные музыкальные коллективы по крайней мере пытались двигаться в колее, проложенной западными отцами-основателями, то на периферии необъятной Родины рок-тенденции подверглись глубокому переосмыслению в необъятных пучинах отечественного бессознательного. Вероятно, это национальное бессознательное и заставляло наших музыкантов искать свои корни не в западном гедонистическом rock'n’roll, а в русской культурной традиции - к примеру, у поэтов «Серебряного века». Как следствие, в таком культурном явлении как «сибирский панк» интеллектуальное наследие обэриутов ощущается не менее сильно, чем влияние «Sex Pistols». Что же касается столь экзотического для нас стиля как регги, то его «прививание» в северные советские будни дало такой уникальный коллектив, как «Комитет охраны тепла» с его вычурной философской системой экзистенциальных заморочек. В современной России регги-культура в целом отошла как от своих революционно-ямайских, так и мрачновато-отечественных истоков, склоняясь к рефлексии беззаботного травокура. К счастью, новый альбом нижегородского «Дня Победы» позволяет говорить о том, что в русском регги возможны пока еще и экзистенциальная манифестация автора (которому - да - есть что сказать), и веселая революционность. Песни, изданные на альбоме «День побега», подкупают своей глубиной, серьезностью и типично русским надрывом. Это регги, который не имеет ничего общего с симулякром регги-культуры, что не может существовать без ширпотребных шапочек, штампованных «фабричных» фенечек и амулетов в виде конопляных листочков. Это сильная, талантливая, побудительная музыка, но при этом воздушно-легкая и светлая. Философичность, не переходящая в обыденную социальность, вечные темы – любовь и война, поиск себя в этом мире и поиск в себе – что бы в этом «я» в итоге ни было обнаружено… В музыкальной регги-окантовке, звучащей в славных традициях смуглых растафари-революционеров, все это оставляет ощущение светлой доброты – невесомой, как воздушный шарик, и вечной. «День побега» - замечательная альтернатива клубной регги-культуре, на альбоме талантливо совмещены искренность стихотворных текстов и солнечная легкость музыкального оформления.

Вольфганг Мутшпиль и его новый "звездный" квинтет

Два с лишним года назад Вольфганг Мутшпиль дебютировал на мюнхенском джазовом лейбле ECM с альбомом "Driftwood". в 2016 году он представляет продолжение альбома "Rising Grace".

На этот раз австрийский гитарист собрал целый квинтет. Помимо басиста Ларри Гренадера и барабанщика Брайана Блэйда, которые уже играли вместе с Мутшпилем на предыдущем альбоме, группу дополняют пианист Брэд Мехлдау и трубач Амброуз Акинмузире. На новом альбоме лидер группы варьирует между акустической и электрогитарой.

Для "Rising Grace" музыканты записали в общей сложности десять песен. Для этого они отправились в студию La Buissonne в Перне-ле-Фонтене на юге Франции. Впоследствии за продюсирование отвечал босс ECM Манфред Айхер.

Среди ярких моментов "Rising Grace" можно выделить песню "Den Wheeler, Den Kenny" - трибьют канадскому трубачу и артисту ECM Кенни Уилеру, скончавшемуся в 2014 году. Кроме того, наряду с несколькими оригинальными композициями Muthspiel вас ждет "Wolfgang's Waltz" - глубоко мелодичная композиция Брэда Мехлдау, написанная им специально для нового альбома.

Выпустив новый альбом "Rising Grace", Вольфганг Мутшпиль в 2016 году в очередной раз подтвердил свои выдающиеся качества бэнд-лидера. И уже один только состав его звездного коллектива говорит о том, что слушать его будет очень интересно.

Their records are different and very influential in Brazil. Morneo is the son of legendary Brazilian musician Caetano Veloso. You can hear him at age 8 on the first Luaka Bop release ( Beleza Tropical') singing the words Ilê Ayê' on Caetano's song of the same name. Moreno's record is to some extent the most conventional of the three, even though Domenico, the drummer, plays drums on a sampler and cymbal sounds using sand paper. The next release, Domenico's, had the greatest success in the indie world, while Kassin's album is the most produced (which makes sense as he has become one of the most successful producers in Brazil). Their reconfiguration from a trio to a two-piece sees them blossoming from the previously cold, kosmische palette found on their debut Measures of Joy into the wider-reaching sound of Forward Constant Motion. " More than anything, we wanted this record to expand in every direction: the poppy parts are poppier, the weird parts are weirder, hopefully". Grapefruit emerges from a cacophony of crackles and hums and drifts in and out of focus, even while clocking in at a lean sub-four minutes. Elsewhere, Miserable World is far more rigid; with Richards' vocals tied to its jutting, jerking movements. Standout-track, Hammer A Nail abruptly taking off from powerful stomp to high-def escapism. Underpinning much of the record, though, is a sense of the dreamlike or otherworld, the album split up by short, drifting passages where structures melt away. It's a key thematic point which, in-part, arose when Pillay developed Labyrinthitis (a disorder of the inner ear which results in vertigo and disorientation). "The symptoms would often come in spells, so I liked the idea of loosely replicating that feeling with the music. That's why some of the songs stop abruptly or sound as if they are falling apart. I wanted to reflect the fallibility of the human body." As for Richards, the themes of Measures of Joy - the claustrophobia of being stuck in one place figuratively and literally - remain in the background, however Forward Constant Motion offers a mirror in the approaching idea in the freedom and fear of being displaced. On songs like Lily of Youth or Miserable World, such movement is pointed and direct. Elsewhere, as on the wistful murmur of Move On (the group's warped interpretation of late night Lovers Rock tunes) or Sonia and Claudette's early AM stupor it's more uncertain. Then there are tracks, like the glimmering finale Future Body, that focus on the strength of women and female friendship. As Richards explains, the group are acutely aware of misguided perceptions when operating within the paradigm of a male-female electronic duo. It's a record made out of a union that is vital for the on-going evolution of the group. Reduced to their very nucleus, they now sound at their most natural, comfortably processing the boundless ideas that they previously eschewed and shaping them to work, pushing the pair ever further forward.
