Waxwork Records is thrilled to have again teamed up with composer Harry Manfredini to acquire the original soundtracks to both cult-classic films, and re-master the complete recordings for vinyl. The deluxe double LP release marks Waxwork Records' very first double soundtrack album. Disc 1 of the set features the re-mastered1986 soundtrack to HOUSE, and Disc 2 features the re-mastered 1987 soundtrack to HOUSE 2: The Second Story. HOUSE 1 & 2 Original Motion Picture Soundtracks features include 180 gram colored vinyl, deluxe packaging, old-style tip on gatefold jackets, re-mastered audio, and all new artwork by Gary Pullin. Bye has been best known as one of Sweden's most sought-after film composers, working on scores not only for contemporary but also vintage silent movies. In 2014 he received two of the three nominations for Best Original Music Award at Sweden's Guldbaggen. He's recorded a number of solo works, too, not least 2010's Drömt and 2013's Bethanien. This Forgotten Land , produced by Joel Danell offers a deeply atmospheric experience, steeped in nostalgia and yet thrillingly contemporary. Opener "Melt" indicates what's to come, with its muffled tones and subdued sense of foreboding. At other times - such on "Underneath The Silence" - one can hear the influence of Debussy. On "Absence", the creaking of Bye's keyboard pedals is intrinsic to the atmosphere of his rippling melody, while "Into The Haze" and "Cascading Sun" and "Empty Streets / Piano Street" reveal his affection for circus music and other archaic styles. Incongruous sounds audible in the background are essential to his compositions. When he was 20, Stockholm's celebrated Cinematheque contacted Bye about playing music for silent films. "Silent film music was like a blank spot on the music map, but I recognised the freedom I'd have as a musician, and the force of the poetry in these forgotten images." As his reputation spread, Bye recognised that he'd stumbled on a singularly romantic style. "I started out as a piano improviser," he says, "and suddenly I realised that I'm a composer." This Forgotten Land looks set to expand Bye's reach. Peculiarly otherworldly, serenely haunting, and utterly unforgettable, its melodies linger long after its conclusion, their atmosphere a magical mist. One Way Static Records presents: Jörg Buttgereit's 'NEKROMANTIK' (Original 1987 Motion Picture Soundtrack by DAKTARI LORENZ, HERMANN KOPP & JOHN BOY WALTON). Jörg Buttgereit is a Berlin based writer and director known for his controversial movies. 'Der Todesking', 'Schramm' & 'Hot Love' are just a few of his exploits but the one that got the most attention and started of his career was no doubt 'Nekromantik' from 1987. Nekromantik is known to be frequently controversial, banned in a number of countries, and has become an international cult film over the years due to its transgressive subject matter (including necrophilia) and audacious imagery. Daktari Lorenz, Hermann Kopp & John Boy Walton make up the holy trio of composers called upon by film maker Jörg Buttgereit. Between the three of them they produced some of the most haunting and beautiful tracks to be paired up with Buttgereit's controversial on-screen works of art. The Nekromantik score displays the dynamic ability and range of the composers. It strikes a perfect balance of beauty, horror, joy and dissonance. The score is both minimalistic and hauntingly atmospheric at the core, and yet remarkably complex at the same time. A wide variety of instruments and sound effects are utilized throughout it's making. Kopp wastes no time displaying his mastery of the violin, which takes center stage, captivating the listener with his powerful, rhythmic, and beautiful solos. He also uses the violin to create some of the strangest tracks on the album, significantly slowing down the rhythm, creating an ominous, off-key droning sound. Kopp is no slouch on the piano either, with a number of beautiful piano interludes that appear throughout the score. In sharp contrast are the tracks which sound as if they are from an old school industrial album. Harsh noise, clanging metal, pounding drums, synthesizers, and various sound effects come together to create a truly dark and desolate picture. The moog synthesizer also makes a few appearances. This is an amazing collection of music that appeals to a wide variety of people. One Way Static released this exceptional soundtrack back in 2015 and it sold out in a matter of weeks.
