180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL * GATEFOLD SLEEVE * EXCLUSIVE FIRST PRESSING OF 450 NUMBERED COPIES ON RED TRANSPARENT VINYL Whilst the first six albums from this Seventies taboo-baiting Prog Rock outfit are all well worth exploring, it is probably Hoodoo Man which best personifies the lightning-hot heavy Rock sound Birth Control were, during their earlier days at least, so adept at producing. Featuring a controversial sleeve design, Hoodoo Man finds the German outfit in blistering form. Indeed, everything about the album simply exudes confidence, the improved production quality showing off the group's razor-sharp brand of manic, high-tempo Power Prog to ear-shattering effect. The focus is very much on bristling grooves, crazed organ solo's and pumped-up riffs. Their galloping proto-Metal best emphasized by the crushing rhythms of "Suicide", the gloriously anthemic strains of fan-favourite "Gamma Ray" and, best of all, the charging organ-drenched groove of "Get Down To Your Fate". Amongst their very best, Hoodoo Man comes highly recommended. Fans of Deep Purple should have no trouble in appreciating this album.

The album reached number 13 in the UK Album Charts. The album was recorded during the British summer of 1984 in The Garden studio in Shoreditch in east London (built and owned by former Ultravox frontman John Foxx), with Paul Hardiman producing. The album cover is a picture by renowned photographer Robert Farber which was chosen by design company Da Gama from a selection of stock photographs. Cole described the songs on Rattlesnakes as "about the things people do when they are in love. People get in all sorts of weird scenarios and I quite like the idea of that. I write about that more than anything. Sometimes it is comic, sometimes tragic, sometimes funny and tragic at the same time. Hailed as one of the finest debuts of the 0s, Rattlesnakes is without a doubt a College Rock masterpiece of smart, ironic lyrics and sympathetic Folk-Rock-based melodies.

180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL Fear (1974) was the first of three albums for Island Records, all of which were released in a period of just over a year. During this time John Cale was also producing records for other artists, working on albums such as Horses by Patti Smith, one of the most influential of all proto Punk records. In addition to his lead vocals on Fear, Cale also played keyboards, guitars, viola, violin and bass, and was joined by Richard Thompson, Roxy Music's Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera, and other artists signed to Island. "Gun" features an unusual two-man guitar solo from Manzanera and Eno, with the latter using a synthesizer to process the former's guitar playing in real-time.

In 2011 guitarist and producer Walla stated, "the master plan for Narrow Stairs was to be as invisible and hands-off as a producer as I possibly could. So the whole idea was: what happens if we're just on stage and we play, except we're in the studio and we're recording?"
