Formed in Pasadena, CA in 1972, between 1974 and 1985 Van Halen had a consistent lineup featuring lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen, vocalist David Lee Roth, drummer Alex Van Halen, and bassist Michael Anthony. Van Halen, of course, became a major rock act, and by the early 1980s they were one of the most successful bands ever. 1984, released on Warner Bros on 9th January that year, was their most successful album, with its lead single ‘Jump’ becoming an international hit which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. But Halen weren’t always such a successful collective of musicians. Indeed, their roots were humble, and for the first six years of their existence they remained release-free, a situation that was only redressed in 1978 upon the issuing of their self-titled debut. The three shows featured on this fascinating Double LP come from their early years, when the group was still playing the clubs and high schools of LA. Recorded for FM broadcast at The Golden West Ballroom and The Starwood Club in 1976, and including too a couple of numbers from La Cañada High School in November 1975, these rare recordings will undoubtedly take pride of place in every decent Halen collection across the world. Interzone' is the third full-length album by New York's electro post-punk duo The Vacant Lots, to be released via Fuzz Club on June 26th 2020. A genre-blending synthesis of dance and psych, 'Interzone' is made for secluded listeners and all-night partygoers, meant for headphones and the club. Uninhibited by the limitations of two people and continuing their mission of "minimal means maximum effect," The Vacant Lots' Jared Artaud and Brian MacFadyen create an industrial amalgam of icy electronics and cold beats with detached vocals and hard hitting guitars. 'Interzone's trance-like opener 'Endless Rain' and the kinetic Krautrock stomper 'Into The Depths' are followed by scintillating dark disco anthems 'Rescue' and 'Exit'. Side 2 kicks off with 80's synth-pop track 'Fracture' and haunting after-hours minimal wave 'Payoff,' while 'Station' and album closer 'Party's Over' deal with disillusionment and conquering one's indifference to make real change. The album creates order from chaos and delves into escapism, isolation, relationship conflicts, and decay. With nods to William S. Burroughs and Joy Division's song of the same name, "Interzone is like existing between two zones," Jared says. "Interzone doesn't mean one thing. It can mean different things to different people depending on their interpretation. Working on this album was a constant struggle reconciling internal conflicts with all that's going on externally in the world. Interzone, in one word, is duality." On Interzone, the band produced the 8 songs, 30 minutes record and teamed up with long term collaborators Ivan Liechti who designed the album artwork, and Ted Young who engineered the record. Maurizio Baggio mixed the record and contributed additional production and it was mastered by Gianni Peri. The Vacant Lots have released singles with Mexican Summer and Reverberation Appreciation Society, collaborated on their debut album 'Departure' with Spacemen 3's Sonic Boom, their second album 'Endless Night' with Alan Vega, and most recently on their two EPs, 'Berlin' and 'Exit', with Brian Jonestown Massacre's Anton Newcombe at his studio in Berlin. The group has toured with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Suicide, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Growlers, Dean Wareham, The Dandy Warhols, and Spectrum.

Lost legends of pop music seem a dime a dozen these days, with internet ghouls stalking history's graveyard exhuming the forgotten, under-heard, or never heard opus of some suburban recluse every minute, but few of them can match the bizarre story of the rise and snail-paced stumbled of one Michael Tooney-Head, born Muswell, London August 1963- otherwise known as lost post-punk troubadour Mick Trouble. It's easy to forget that for a brief time in 1981, Mick Trouble was on the verge of becoming The Band That Saves Britain. But Trouble was just that- poised to make the leap from the esteemed bard in hallowed hip circles including the likes of post-punk trailblazers Swell Maps and Television Personalities to that of a superstar that would give Declan McManus a run for his money. But a week before Trouble and his band were to make their seventh appearance on John Peel in just two years, something happened. Trouble disappeared. And so, seemingly, did his music- until now. Emotional Response is proud to present the long-coveted 1980 Trouble EP- "It's The Mick Trouble E.P.", cut directly from a master reel discovered earlier this year under a cookie jar in his basement, along with a never-before-heard jam, year unknown featuring The Glitter Band, Lemmy Kilmister, and Damo Suzuki.
