A story within a story, Blood Rushing is a glimpse into the world of Blushing, a heteronym of the artist Josephine Foster. A rock-ballet chanté, the music is set to a Pueblo drum's metapulsing Pan-American heartbeat. Recorded in Colorado by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes) with the collaboration of her partner Spanish guitarist Victor Herrero, and musicians Paz Lenchantin (The Entrance Band), Heather Trost (A Hawk and a Hacksaw) and Ben Trimble (Fly Golden Eagle)."Cleansing. The sanitation of blood, even. Sometimes I hear my own flesh and it terrifies me - it's a sonic confirmation of everything we believe in. It's natures heart beating harder than any story I couldn't have written on my own. Last evening I wanted to cry - I couldn't, because the charm was diffused over the six or seven hours of dusk. Then I danced it off to the shaking of the pipes. For some time now I've been enchanted by these sounds. Again, because of the magic show: this one, of generosity, the kind that comes from sight. The songs on Colour Green were written in Germany between 1970-1973. In a particularly dark and moody period of Sibylle's young life, a friend Claudine dragged her out from under the bed and took her on a road trip to Strasbourg, France ending up across the Alps in Genoa, Italy. Upon the return from this trip Sibylle felt her sprits renewed and she set out to write the song "Remember the Day," grateful for being alive. It was the first song she ever wrote and it exemplifies her music, which is simply amazing in its intimacy and closeness. Recorded in her home on a reel-to-reel tape recorder, the songs on Colour Green are intimate portraits of life's sad and fragile beauty. It is a gem of an album that will blow your mind. Released as a short-run private press LP in 1965, "Fate Is Only Once" has long been a coveted collectible among American Primitive guitar enthusiasts. The album presages the broader movement. Acoustic musicians were still largely stuck in a rigid "Folk" mindset in 1965, and there are just not that many other examples of the exploratory guitar sounds found on 'Fate' during this time period. Alternating between haunting originals and jaunty blues-based traditional numbers, this absurdly rare LP was reissued by Tompkins Square in 2006. Taussig's only other recorded works appear on the long out-of-print Takoma compilation "Contemporary Guitar Spring '67" alongside John Fahey, Robbie Basho, Max Ochs and Bukka White. Taussig spent years as an educator, published instructional guitar books, and traveled extensively to photograph weird museums. Amazingly, he returns with his first album in 47 years, appropriately titled "Fate Is Only Twice". The same stark, smoldering playing is evident, all the humor and inventiveness intact. Rough Trade are proud to announce Dylan LeBlanc’s second studio album ‘Cast The Same Old Shadow’. Twenty-one-year-old Dylan spent most of his youth in Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama (previously home to greats such as Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett and Etta James). Fame’s head, Rick Hall, signed Dylan to its publishing arm as soon as he was legally of age to do so - eighteen. Part of the deal was that Dylan got access to the studio, where he recorded both his debut album ‘Pauper’s Field’ (2010) and the bulk of the forthcoming follow-up ‘Cast The Same Old Shadow’ which was then completed in New Orleans. Co-produced by Dylan and Grammy award-winning engineer Trina Shoemaker (Queens Of The Stone Age, Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris), the album has a highly adventurous, cinematic feel. Dylan cites George Harrison’s ‘All Things Must Pass’ as being a major influence on this record, and you may also hear echoes of Gene Clark as well as Glen Cambell’s early work. Of the record, Dylan says: “Even if we change on the inside we will always cast the same old shadow in the light of day. That thought process became the foundation for the structure of this record. I wanted to do something different and exciting, and there’s no wrong way to make music if it comes from within. This is not a self-seeking record, this is an honest record.
