Gut fünf Jahre nachdem Martin Gore, Songwriter und Gründungsmitglied von Depeche Mode, das gefeierte Instrumentalalbum "MG" veröffentlicht hat, veröffentlicht er fünf mitreißende Titel als neue, ebenfalls rein instrumental angelegte "The Third Chimpanzee" EP, die am 29. Janaur 2021 bei Mute erscheinend wird. Geschrieben, produziert und im Electric Ladyboy-Studio in Santa Barbara, Kalifornien, aufgenommen, ist die EP ein grimmiges Stück Electro, das von Martin Gores enorm atmosphärischem Songwriting geprägt ist. Sie folgt auf die Veröffentlichung von Depeche Modes "Spirit" aus dem Jahr 2017, der Band, die jüngst für ihre unzähligen Erfolge in die Rock & Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen wurde. FORMATE CD und limitierte, azurblaue 12-Inch (die einen Kunstdruck enthält). Das Kunstwerk stammt von Pockets Warhol.

Situation clearly labeled as A side or AA side 4. Matrix numbers originating from another unambiguous Situation remix single "Situation" first appeared as a b-side to the single [r=4824598]. Released in the US & Canada in 1982 (and select territories excluding UK & Europe). Re-released in 1990, and again in 1999 with new remixes for the compilation [m=71403].

Released in February 1980, it contains 14 tracks: 7 demo songs from a session recorded at Graveyard Studios in September 1979 (side A) and 7 songs from a gig at the Electric Ballroom in October 1979 (side B), together with Joy Division and The Distractions. The pouches come in various colours and designs: Orange (edition of 400), with 1 button and two pockets. Blue and red, with with 1 button and two pockets or with 2 buttons and 1 pocket. Green and grey (can appear brown), with 1 button and two pockets. The cassettes are either black with light grey paper labels or white/light grey with dark grey paper labels. The back photographs either show a band member with a trumpet or with a guitar. It's a wide-spread misconception that ACR were supporting Talking Heads on the day. However, Talking Heads only played there in December 1979. This error stems from a 1980 review in NME by Paul Morley.
