Antime a young Berlin based label founded by Martin Steer (Frittenbude/Pandoras Box/Midimum) presents the V2 compilation, the first official vinyl release from a crew that has devoted itself to the different genres and varieties in electronic music for quite some time. The sampler’s 6 tracks reflect the varied musical influences and tastes of a circle of old friends that span from Techno, glitchy Synth/Sampling Electronica, House to classical band music, post somestep elements, Downbeat, and Experimental. Antime sees itself as a musical playground, an interactive interface between club and couch, loud nights and lazy afternoons, inside and outside, seriousness and insanity and deliberately keeps its ears open to the whole spectrum of sounds and moods that the world holds for us. The Vinyl Compilation artists include two members of German electropunk outfit Frittenbude: Kalipo pays tribute to his collection of moog synthesizers on his - aptly titled -banger “The Tribute", the other one - Midimúm -sends you on a trip with his epic-schizophrenic Synthtec precursor and title track of his soon to be released debut “Junk Beach". Vienna based Andreas Buchner contributes with “DA14″ hypnotic and playful electronica while Abigail from Leipzig shines with his UK bass influenced track “Elevator". Sebastian Dali delivers classical inspired Pianohouse and Owlet´s “Lightning” sets the very first morning lights to music. THEE SPIVS are back with their third album in as many years and with "The Crowds and The Sounds" they've honed their canny blend of trad punk, garage punk, post punk, new wave, classic English rock'n'roll and pub rock to create a magnificently varied album. Dare we say, these young men have matured, with Ben Edge proving his worth as an accomplished songwriter. Drawing from a more diverse array of influences, THEE SPIVS have lapped up and reimagined sounds from bands such as THE TELEVISION PERSONALITIES, THE RAMONES and early WIRE. The new album is a natural progression from their critically acclaimed debut "Taped Up" and last year's "Black and White Memories". "The Crowds and The Sounds" is instantly more melodic and you can see additional influences from the very British qualities of THE KINKS. The songs are slowed down and slightly longer in length, with a lot more thought and work in to each one than the furiously fast, punchy numbers from their early records. As with all of their music, THEE SPIVS' new album is deeply rooted in English everyday life. One reoccurring theme is the idea that people talk about the weather in this country as a form of polite conversation and to avoid awkward silences. "Let's Talk About the Weather" was nearly the title track, the verses talk about the madness and terrible things that happen daily in England and the hypocritical nature of people, contrasted by the chorus which comments on how people talk about the weather almost as a way of escaping talking about the things that are really going on around them. The title track "The Crowds and The Sounds" is about walking along the Southbank of the River Thames inspired by THE KINKS' Waterloo Sunset and PJ HARVEY's "The Last Living Rose". The song also sees one of the biggest departures for THEE SPIVS with the addition of a saxophone played by MFC CHICKEN's Spencer Evoy. Style: Punk

Featuring members of Nachtmystium, Nine Inch Nails, Guzzlemug, and more, the ideas and concepts from the mind of Surachai are expressed through a numerous set of minds and talents, the resulting outcome is a supremely robust and more fully evolved sound than the previous records. Next to Surachai’s vocals, the drums are probably the most stand out element on the record for me, followed closely by the ambient and sound design from the ever remarkable Richard Devine. But, the guitars and bass and synths are not overshadowed or lost in the shuffle, to be certain. Now, the story of Rodriguez and his cult album "Cold Fact" is the basis for ,Searching For Sugar Man", a riveting new documentary by filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul. Light In The Attic Records in partnership with Sony Legacy are honored to announce the release of the original motion picture soundtrack, comprising tracks from Cold Fact and its 1971 follow-up ,Coming From Reality" - both reissued in 2008 and 2009 by Light In The Attic. The soundtrack begins with the otherworldly "Sugar Man" and acts as a primer to this long-overlooked musician's fusion of gritty funk, political poetry and blissful psych-folk. "Searching For Sugar Man", a Red Box Films & Passion Pictures Production in association with Canfield Pictures & The Documentary Company, distributed by Sony Pictures Classics in the U.S., was a big hit at this year's Sundance Film Festival where it won the world documentary audience award and a special jury award, and then went on to screen at SXSW, Tribeca, and the Sheffield Doc Fest. The film opens in New York, Los Angeles, and London (via Studio Canal) on July 27th and will play in other cities throughout the coming months. Back in the late '70s, Rodriguez was discovered in a Detroit bar by renowned producers Dennis Coffey and Mike Theodore. They recorded a 1970 album that they believed was going to secure his reputation as one of the greatest recording artists of his generation. Instead, ,Cold Fact" bombed, and despite the release of a second LP, entitled "Coming From Reality" and produced by Steve Rowland, Rodriguez drifted into obscurity, even being subject to rumours that he had committed suicide by setting himself on fire onstage. "Cold Fact"took on a life of its own when a bootleg recording found its way into apartheid-era South Africa. Banned by the government, the album became a country-wide phenomenon over the next two decades, and the soundtrack to a resistance movement of liberal African youth. Back in Detroit, working in construction and renovation (he also ran for mayor), Rodriguez was totally unaware that he was not just a folk hero but a household name thousands of miles away. Decades later, two South African fans, Stephen ugar' Segerman and Craig Bartholomew-Strydom set out to find out what really happened to their hero, and their investigation led them to a story more extraordinary than any of the many myths they'd heard. Their story forms the basis of ,Searching For Sugar Man". Both sides of the story, Rodriguez's life in Detroit and the subsequent impact of his music in South Africa, proved fascinating to Stockholm-based documentary filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul. His short documentary films for Swedish Television's international cultural weekly show Kobra became the basis for such films as ,Men Who Stare At Goats" (George Clooney) and "The Terminal" (Tom Hanks). The evolution of the financing, production, and filming of ,Searching For Sugar Man" is as fascinating and complex as the life of Rodriguez himself. "I describe myself as 'musico-politico'," Rodriguez said recently. "I was born and bred in Detroit, four blocks from the city center. Back then, I was influenced by the urban sounds that were going on around me all the time. Music is art and art is a cultural force. As far as my work from Detroit comparing to the South African Apartheid, the similarities echo. The placards of the 1970s in the United States read things like: We Want Jobs and Stop the War - I was looking at the music from a working class perspective that was relevant, as it turns out, to the kids in South Africa. DEBUT ALBUM FROM BILLY CHYLDISH'S NEW BAND CTMF In 1976/ 77 the "shortly to be" Billy Chyldish, as well as being head of research in the counties first fortress study group The Medway Military Research Group, was working as an apprentice stonemason in Chatham dockyard. After seeing a feature on punk on the London Weekend show Billy thought he wouldn't half mind being the singer in a punk rock group himself. Childish duly left work and suggested to a few old secondary school mates that they should form one pronto. "What about a name?" they asked, "simple", answered Wild Billy, "we'll be called CTMF." Button Nose Steve, who was to shortly give Billy Chyldish his punk moniker - and even owned a Woolworth's guitar, and Dave Marsh, a form mate who said he might buy a drum kit one day - both nodded slightly. 36 years later, and CTMF have finally come into being. No ones sure where Dave Marsh now is, but Button Nose Steve is busy feeding pigs and ducks on his small holding in New Romney and Billy Chyldish, with other mates, has recorded an LPs worth of material - and half a dozen 45's for different destinations around the globe - utilising lyrics first jotted down for the original CTMF line up in 1977. Billy describes CTMF group as "the epitome of modern".and their sound as "the sound of yesterday, tomorrow" All of their records are released under the moniker CTMF. Some say this stands for Copyright TerMination Front, others claim it is simply short form for Clarity Through Fuzz. There have been numerous rumours that Jimmy Cauty plays bass and that it is none other than Bill Drummond that can be heard on Xylophone. Billy, however, muses that though he is indeed friends with Jimmy Cauty - and has in the past been in correspondence with Bill Drummond - he has never knowingly heard of the KLF as he "gave up on music after punk turned crap at the end of 77".
