Fire Records are proud to announce the signing of celebrated American singer-songwriter MARK MULCAHY for his eagerly anticipated forthcoming album, entitled "Dear Mark J. Mulcahy, I Love You.", which will be his first studio release since 2005's critically acclaimed "In Pursuit Of Your Happiness". Armed with his trusty Epiphone and his wonderfully emotive vocals, MARK MULCAHY recorded the new album in Northampton, Massachusetts with Henning Ohlenbusch. The album was mixed by Grammy-winning producer Paul Q. Kolderie, who has made some of the most important records of the past two decades by artists including RADIOHEAD, THE PIXIES, HOLE, MORPHINE, UNCLE TUPELO, WARREN ZEVON and DINOSAUR JR. The record was mastered by Mark's longtime collaborator Myles Mangino. MARK MULCAHY is the former singer of MIRACLE LEGION, an American rock band of the late 80s, early 90s who were signed to Rough Trade. Following the demise of the band, Mark's solo career began with "Fathering", an album that received universal praise including "Album Of The Month" in Uncut and "Album Of The Week" in The Guardian and featured the track "Hey Self Defeater" which was featured in Nick Hornby's book "31 Songs". From there followed albums "Smilesunset" and "In Pursuit Of Your Happiness", several tours of the UK and Europe, countless radio sessions and huge critical acclaim for both his songwriting prowess and his remarkable voice. In 2008 he put everything on hold to look after his children following the tragic death of his wife. To assist him through these troubled times many of his long-time fans in the music industry banded together to record an album of his songs as a tribute to his wife and the result was 2009's "Ciao My Shining Star", featuring the likes of MICHAEL STIPE, THOM YORKE, FRANK BLACK, MERCURY REV, DINOSAUR JR and THE NATIONAL. In a recent interview with Metal Shock Finland, MASTERPLAN guitarist/leader Roland Grapow stated about the band's new CD: "We are not leaving the MASTERPLAN path too much, but everything we have — the melodic part and a little bit progressive — I would say we're a little bit more powerful and I'm also mixing the album this time. I want to get a little bit more modern, as the sound we have was created ten years ago. We're still having the typical sound with melodies, but the drummer is amazing and plays a lot of crazy shit!" On the cover there's a striking photo of an African woman walking past a vast garbage heap, while on the album itself there are 10 new songs (and an instrumental) in which Femi Kuti continues his musical attacks on corruption, oppression and squandered wealth in Nigeria. Fela Kuiti's oldest son is now in his 50s, and surely knows that he will never achieve the legendary status of his dad, but continues to fight the same causes. And he's still worth checking out, though more for the musical experiment than the admirable, though now predictable, message, which veers towards easy sloganeering at times. The starting point is Afrobeat, of course, but Femi is at his best developing his own slick, melodic style, using a light guitar riff for the opening of The World Is Changing, or showing off his fine, high vocals on No Work No Job No Money. A crew of degenerates called KOMODINA 3 records an album, makes 80 compact disc copies, hand-delivers them to some local kooks and then decide to not drive to their only show because it's too cold out (They never played live once. No joke). Fast forward to 2012. Slovenly Greek godz BAZOOKA and GAY ANNIVERSARY are touring Europe with Slovenly owner Pete Menchetti in tow, play him a pirated copy of said disc in the van, and that is IT! It is now with dubious enthusiasm that we present this mysterious Greek freek punk rock beater officially, and on wax for the first time ever. What we have here is the disastrous, teeth-grinding missing link between The Penetrators "Kings of Basement Rock" LP, The Rip Offs uber-classic "Got A Record," and whatever other garage punk shit you're listening to now, like if WAU Y LOS ARRRGHS!!! were covering the Killed By Death catalog instead of Back From The Grave. Komodina 3 is a budget-rock anomaly recorded in radically separated stereophonic sound. Ridiculous dumpster drums augmented by a childish assortment of cheap shaking devices, cheesy Farfisa Compact organ just the way we like it, guitars that'll have you reaching for your itch-powder, and juvenile ADD vocals (sung entirely in Greek!) that numb your cerebellum like the earliest SPITS recordings. Get in to a car with a full tank, throw yourself towards the first motorway you can find and build up miles and miles without ever looking into the rear-view mirror. That's the spirit that made Kraftwerk start up nearly fifty years ago and it looks like its where Jupiter Lion are starting, only that the motorways this Valencian trio are driving on aren't in Germany, their up there between Venus and Uranus. It's not the Milky Way but the Jupiter Lion Way, where dimensions shrink and expand and the third eye melts into a sincere hug with our chakras. The band, formed at the beginnings of 2011 by Sais (vocals, synthesizer and programming), Jose Guerrero (Bass guitar) and Gonzo In Vegas (drums) come from the legacy of German experimental music, the kind that at some point stopped looking towards the USA and Europe and started to look towards outerspace, the kind that takes music forward with nerve and sweat. Riding on a Supernova of Kraut Rock that alternatively condenses and frees energy, this fantastic first album for BCore (recorded in June 2012 by Pablo Peir- - bass guitar of Betunizer- at the Sountess Studio) has six trips full of psychedelic and hypnotic rhythms that makes the listener advance non-stop. More, more and more. Jupiter Lion don't use dirty tricks or postal epic, they do slow burning, suggestive kinematics, the kind that Stereolab or Tortoise fans enjoy when they ride the back of the Gran Turbina of Motorik. Jose (also in Betunizer, La Orquestra Ganador and other projects) and Gonzo turn their rhythms, made of constant drive, into a magic carpet from which Sais serves himself and takes us on a interplanetary trip without leaving our homes, exploring spaces inside and out. Six songs that activate all our senses and those to come, a true sensorial hurricane that promises an energetic, physical and hypnotic live performance where dancing and eye ball turning inside out are totally assured. This time around label boss Champion turns his attentions to the mysterious Jamie Hustle - whose take on bass-led House fiercely remains true to the dancefloor-orientated ethos that Formula Records has operating by since its inception in 2011. At a time when most female singer-songwriters perform as alter egos, ELEANOR FRIEDBERGER is simply, refreshingly herself. And that's just the way her fans like it.
