Footprintz will release their debut album on Visionquest in March. Entitled Escape Yourself, the 12-track opus will be the first full-length from Clarian North and Adam Hunter, who met in Montreal aged 15. It's due out on Visionquest, the label run by Lee Curtiss, Ryan Crosson, Seth Troxler and Shaun Reeves. So far Visionquest has been the main home for the Canadian duo's signature brand of woozy synth-pop, having released their debut 12-inch in 2011 and two subsequent EPs—The Favourite Game and Dangers Of The Mouth—last year. A press release quotes North and Hunter as saying: "We wanted to work around a concept of escaping the confused years of growing up. 16-25, those are the years where you’re figuring yourself out, going through the motions of meeting different people and finding new things". Formed in 2009, DAMIEN DUBROVNIK is the Danish electronic duo of Christian Stadsgaard (SARAH'S CHARITY) and Loke Rahbek (SEXDROME, VAR, LUST FOR YOUTH), founders of the Copenhagen based record label Posh Isolation. In their day job as label managers, Stadsgaard and Rahbek have been instrumental in establishing the city's prolific and exciting noise / punk community and outgrowing their humble beginnings in noise / industrial culture by attracting a cult / fanatical worldwide following. Working together as DAMIEN DUBROVNIK, they have published work across 2 LPs, a handful of sought after cassette releases, compilations and notched up numerous performances throughout Europe and Scandinavia. Their third LP, "First Burning Attraction", draws explicitly from DIY minimal synth traditions and the canon of European Industrial music, resulting in the strongest manifestation of their sound so far. Consisting of 6 powerful and varied tracks, the album features more of the brooding synth parts and ominous bass throbs that dominated the highlights of previous LP "Europa Dagbog - Europa Diary", yet it feels tenser and more atmospheric due to the application of new acoustic-based sound sources, primitive bass pulses and more disciplined dynamics. Rahbek's vocals, which were previously guttural and wild, appear more restrained here giving the tracks an alluring air of ambiguity and suggestiveness - no undirected aggression, but something more thoughtful and introspective instead. Limited edition of 400 copies When we heard Cosmonauts'sophomore LP "If You Wanna Die Then I Wanna Die" released by Burger Records in 2012, it was clear to us it was a contemporary masterpiece. When we found out it was soon to be sold out, we realized we had to do something about it. Now, Ayo Silver! proudly presents the reissue of this must have LP. After various 7" releases, one LP and mini LP cassete, Cosmonauts have synthesized the perfect recipe in "If You Wanna Die Then I Wanna Die". What you will find in this album is a combination of rock and roll beats, psychedelic vibes and punk attitude that trascends those genres. A friend of mine defines them as drone-punk. Cosmonauts transmit real sensations, and this is no insignificant issue. In a field where bands are usually subscribed to the same cliches, Cosmonauts drown them. Their music arises from the stomach, it's as real as a punch full of anger, like a cold shower or a sweatty pogo dancing in first row. Despite their signifcant charisma, Cosmonauts are a perfect example of this generation; a new scene full of bands reading the past but writing the future. We are talking about Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, Night Beats or The Growlers. All of them are mentioned when talking about Cosmonauts, but also The Velvet Underground, Silver Apples or SST bands. Cosmonauts take us in a psychedelic field trip empowered by amphetaminic punk nerve during a great part of "If You Wanna Die Then I Wanna Die", this is the case of hits like "Motorcycle #1", "Flowerbomb" or "Gillian". In other tunes they dig atmospheric loops with minimalistic structures but mantaining a pop heart, "Please don't make me blue", "California Dreamin" for example. This journey ends with "Emerald Green", a gem that could seem stolen from the Nuggets, a psych-garage pearl that easily could be one of the best rock and roll tunes of the year. And thus, the band is Bits of Shit. These charmers have been around for about 3 and a half years, having morphed from another previous outfit, The Southernhay Orphans. The band consists of Danny on vocals, Andy on guitar, Elias on bass and Pete on drums. They've played over 50 shows in their lifespan, released a 7" on Melbourne's Lexicon Devil label (now sold out), tore up the east coast a couple of times and played at Melbourne's annual Maggotfest at the Tote. They're even set to play Memphis' Holy Grail of rock & roll festivals, Gonerfest, September 2012 (as well as other shows throughout the US). Their ages range from the early 20s to the early 40s. In real life, they are responsible citizens, two of them educators of young children; on stage, they are Bits of Shit.
