The first album of Dutch rapper Tony Scott's The Chief (1989) achieved #13 in the Dutch album charts and spawned three hit-singles: "That's How I'm Living", "Gangster Boogie" and his biggest hit "Get Into It", which reached to #4 in the Dutch singles charts. The follow-up album Expressions From The Soul from 1991 contained several minor hits like "Love Let Love" and gave Tony Scott the chance to work with famous Dutch DJ and producer Ben Liebrand and collaborations with Boyz II Men. In 2015, Tony Scott has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. This Special Edition 2LP is released to coincide with his final appearance/ performance at the benefit concert which has been put together by Ben Liebrand on February 15th at Paradiso, Amsterdam. This limited double album contains all the original tracks plus the bonus tracks "B.E.W.A.R.E. & Tony Scott - Pick Up The Pieces" (his first appearance on vinyl) and "It's The X" plus the original remix version of his biggest hit "Get Into It". All proceeds of the album's sales will go to the Dutch MS Fund in the Netherlands. All participants (Rhythm Records, the Record Industry pressing plant, Bertus Distribution, Music On Vinyl and many others) have contributed all their efforts to establish this release.

Includes free download including three bonus unreleased studio tracks from '79. 4-page insert features photos and an extensive interview with Novak. One-time pressing of 500 copies. The Bay Area punk scene really started to energize in early '77, when bands like Crime, the Nuns, the Mutants, and the Avengers started drawing rabid fans to legendary venue Mabuhay Gardens. Novak was a Mills College grad student with a background in avantª garde composition-he'd worked with Robert Moog and John Cage as an undergrad-and access to a 12 ªtrack recording studio. He started making his own version of garage ªinspired punk rock. By the end of '77, he'd formed a band, played Mabuhay Gardens five times, started his own label-Dumb Records, and released his first 7", "RU21." He did all the engineering and production himself, glued the 500 covers by hand, and went around on foot to San Francisco record stores trying to get people to listen. Novak met the Nuns' Alejandro Escovedo at Mabuhay when the Nuns opened up for the Ramones, and ended up recording a three song demo for the band. Shortly after, Novak produced Crime's second single, "Frustration"/"Murder by Guitar." Gathering momentum, Novak put out a second 7", "Oh Farrah!," later that year. He went on to put out two more Novak singles, and also-returning to his avantª garde roots-a more experimental project called the Survivors, two savage drone tracks that incorporate eerie vocal samples of cult leader Jim Jones. Into the early '80s Novak broadened the Dumb Records catalog, issuing releases by local bands BOB and Ixna. One part glam, one part dumb is smart, one part riff rock 'n' roll, Novak's music is raw, arty punk rock. The fourteen tracks on this LP preserve the legacy of the Novak project by collecting the four Novak 45s and the Survivors 45.

What's really impressive on this album, besides the quality of the songs, is guitarist Robert Burås'creative and versatile playing. He plays everything from countrylike slide guitar leads to fierce punk rock power chords, gentle acoustic strumming, and something not unlike flamenco on the apocalyptical "Salt". Madrugada, although having successful singles and EPs on the Norwegian charts, are most definitely not a singles band. Their strength is not catchy three-minute pop songs;

It was released in March 1985. The album was an international hit, almost reaching the Top Ten in the United Kingdom. The album finds the band caught between their earlier aggression and a calmer, more immediately accessible approach. The tension between the two sides of Killing Joke struck a perfect balance on Night Time, and as a result, it is arguably the quartet's freshest album to date, with a warm, anthemic quality now supplementing the blasting, driving approach that made the band's name. The song "Eighties" is claimed to have been copied by Nirvana for their 1991 song "Come As You Are", primarily because the riffs of both songs are so similar. A lawsuit was issued against Nirvana by Killing Joke for appropriation of the riff. However, the same Killing Joke riff could also have been inspired by The Damned's 1982 song "Life Goes On", whaddyaknow

When Donuts came out, on J Dilla's birthday, February 7, 2006, it was with this drawing cover (scribbled up by Jeff Jank). Dilla had originally asked for, "some Quasimoto type shit," and this was it. As some years passed, the vinyl was eventually reissued with "the smile" photo cover, and the drawing eventually went out of print. The album is ten years old now. Many new people have discovered the album and the work of our favorite producer along the way. Some still ask for the drawing cover, and we're happy to oblige. Like a hurricane of healing bliss, a Guerilla Toss concert is more of a ritual than a performance. It is the unique pairing of musical voices and backgrounds that makes Guerilla Toss such a special party band. But they are more than that – GT gets real when you pay close attention. Their music is inspired by both tragedy and beauty, drug addiction/mental illness and the re-birth of the soul through spiritual practice and psychedelic drug healing - helping the listener overcome these mind-fuck hardships. GT had a productive 2015, releasing their acclaimed DFA debut Flood Dosed, which cemented support from folks ranging from punk icon Henry Rollins to Busy P of Justice’s Ed Banger Records. The band also relocated from Boston to NYC. “We felt like it was time to move closer to our favorite active bands and artists and they all just so happen to live in NYC!” This didn’t slow the pace of their live performances - between road trips to universities and DIY Festivals, they have a de-facto residency at Brooklyn’s premiere underground venue Palisades and scored opening slots for The Juan Maclean and Mission of Burma. Eraser Stargazer was written and recorded in 6 weeks of winter isolation in upstate New York. Fans of the group will hear all of the beloved hallmarks of the Guerilla Toss sound - solid bass grooves, squealing guitars, and kitchen sink percussion. Each instrument now occupies its own part of the audio spectrum, with vocalist/poet Kassie Carlson’s spirited incantations brought into focus. Album centerpiece Grass Shack is a perfect example of this leaner, yet tougher Toss. It traverses nearly seven minutes of game- show-winner keyboard stabs, mutant funk basslines, and time signature changes - all grounded by Peter Negroponte’s virtuosic drumming. Carlson describes the themes of the song as “A deep analytical depiction of a small unit of time, with heightened senses, Ripping yourself out of bed even though it might be harsh and overwhelming. Seeing patterns in the little things that make life beautiful.” Heavy subject matter permeates the rest of the record - but that doesn’t mean it’s a downer. Lead single Diamond Girls casts Carlson as a no-wave cheerleader over instrumentation reminiscent of DFA alumni Black Dice and The Rapture, culminating in the group’s catchiest chorus yet. Album closer Doll Face On The Calico Highway is the perfect summation - angular guitars, bells, and low-end vibrations interject and decompose as quickly as they appear, until a hissing cymbal is all that remains.

Pulling members from today's best underground roots bands including Jayke Orvis and the Broken Band, Carrie Nation And The Speakeasy, Calamity Cubes and Sean & Zander, the album has a wide range of songs. From the stripped down acoustic and kick drum, 'Copper King' a song confessing the singers love of stealing 'green gold' to the all out blasting brass, fiddle and mandolin of 'I Am The Sky', a twin tale of murder and the cycle of life. The albums strength is not only in the masterful instrumentation of the albums many guests but also the word smithing, a poetic interpretation of real life events. The listener feels that he HAS just traveled with his dog in boxcars looking for the lost love he could never find or spent his last days waltzing through the alleyways, waiting for the end of times. But the final song is the most revealing and stripped away. A quiet, sad and lonely one, it is the story of a man simply going to bed and waking up again. Punctuated by a voicemail poem by American troubadour Sean wheeler, the album ends in the blowing sands of a lonely desert.

COPPERSKY is rock band formed by three brothers and two friends and based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Hanging somewhere in the balance between the tradition of American heartland rock and punk infused powerpop with a tinge of classic rock, soundwise COPPERSKY can be seen as a cousin to rock bands such as The Hold Steady, The Replacements and The National. Delivered in leadsinger Erik Zwart's rich deep voice (often compared to that of Matt Beringer and Craig Finn), thematically COPPERSKY's lyrics revolve around semi-autobiographical confessions of failures and redemption in a working class context.
