With their most recent release "The Blunt Truth" behind them and a new album still a year away, F3K lead singer/guitar player Keith Roth felt it was the perfect time to compile a number of great tracks that have yet to be pressed to vinyl. Acting as a junction between albums "Intermediary Stage" is a sonic bridge for Punk Rock fans to traverse an irregular time. The first thing you experience upon picking up the new album is its striking cover art. Cast in yellow and black hue of a fallout shelter sign, the cover is dominated by a photo of a deserted New York City street. It was taken by Frank Perry in the early days of the Corona Virus quarantine back in March. The cover draws inspiration from 1960's Jazz albums and is meant to evoke something of a horror movie vibe. The photo not only does that, it serves as a historical snapshot of a time no one will soon forget. Beyond the visuals of "Intermediary Stage" are a number of audio gems. The album features previously unreleased covers and original songs as well as guest appearances by Earl Slick and David Johansen. It is something that should most certainly be enjoyed by audibly and visually on vinyl.

On&On is a 9-track song-cycle that confirms the London musician and visual artist as a unique creative force, pushing the art of song into expansive new territories. Following 2018’s Minus, Blumberg’s debut for Mute - is a consolidation of the deconstructed song aesthetic he has developed, operating at the intersection between conventional song structures and free improvisation. Now he takes this further, incorporating recurring, shape-shifting motifs and at times dissolving the boundaries between songs altogether. Born out of live sessions with the same core group of players as Minus: Daniel Blumberg (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Ute Kanngiesser (cello), Billy Steiger (violin), Tom Wheatley (double bass) and Jim White (drums), with the addition of electronic maverick Elvin Brandhi (vocals). As such it represents a deepening of relationships and distillation of techniques for this tight-knit group of free-playing musicians, who are loosely based around Café OTO. Non-Secure Connection features 10 new songs exploring a broad range of themes, from civil rights to computer hackers, mall salesmen to the Darwinian aspects of AAU basketball. Hornsby plays piano, of course, but the songs on Non-Secure Connection also feature Hornsby’s electric sitar and Chamberlin, along with guitars, horns, strings and subtle samples from sources as varied as minimalist composer John Cage and Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand.
