It is the culmination of his life's effort to usher guitar music into a new artistic paradigm, and to "establish the steel string as a concert instrument indigenous to America. This album represents Basho's most technically fine guitar work. In both composition and performance, the album is enormously complex and yet conveys an effortlessness unique to Basho. As he famously espoused, "My philosophy is quite simple: soul first, technique later." The richness of Basho's soul emanates from this record as distinctly as each note ringing from his steel strings. Only one song on the record ("Pasha II") features Basho's enigmatic voice, but it may be his most extraordinary vocal performance - his voice calling out through a shimmer of strings, singing ancient syllables with timeless emotion. The remaining ten instrumental songs roam through Eastern and Western modalities, dark and light meditations, wild and restrained expression. With "Art of the Acoustic Steel String Guitar 6 & 12", Basho summons rich allusions, hallucinations and delicately numinous passages. Norwegian dark hardcore band Timeworm are set to unleash their new “Luminescent Wake” LP. Timeworn began in 2013, and is a successor to Eskatol, which contained most of the members Eskatol as well as including members of Summon the Crows, Englemaker, Black Blood World and more. The band is a hybrid of post-hardcore, metal and hardcore punk, with all that entails in terms of anger, dirt and harmonies. Heaviness tossed in your face, as if you are being swallowed by the Kraken, chased by Cthulhu or bruised a moshpit in the basement of a squat. The experience is certainly mixed and unique. “Luminescent Wake” was recorded and mastered by Ruben Willem (Haust, Djevel a.s.o.).

The Twilight Zone is a cornucopia of space age sounds and great Space Age Pop names. Jerry Murad on harmonica, Mundell Loweon guitar;
Lois Hunt sang the ethereal wordless vocals, while Harry Breuer played the vibes and Phil Kraus covered miscellaneous percussion. Manning himself covered keyboards, using both Ondioline and Ondes Martenot. The album also earns a footnote in musical history as one of the very few recordings to use a serpent, the instrument, that is. Marty Manning was perhaps the most-sought-after arranger and conductor among pop singers on the New York studio scene, but to Space Age Pop fans, he's best known for his album inspired by Rod Serling's great television series, "The Twilight Zone." Manning's The Twilight Zone featured new recordings of a variety of space-oriented tunes, with New York instead of L.A. session musicians, but those details have never seemed to matter to the fans who continue to scarf up copies of this record seconds after they hit the shelves. Manning got his start during the Big Band era, and he was working as a freelance arranger by the early 1940s. He worked in radio, arranging and conducting for a variety of NBC and CBS shows, and began a long relationship with Columbia Records in the early 1950s. He arranged and conducted on many of Tony Bennett's earliest hits, such as "Rags to Riches," and he went on to provide backing for most of Columbia's roster of singers through the late 1960s, including Vic Damone, Buddy Greco, Andy Williams, Robert Goulet, and Barbra Streisand. His arrangement for Bennett's biggest hit, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," won a Grammy Award in 1962, and he was nominated several other times for other arrangements forBennett, Perry Como, Brenda Lee, and others. The Twilight Zone TV show, although it opens with a version of the show's well known title music. Rather, this is a very odd and different approach to "space pop." Band leader Manning plays the Ondioline and the "Martinot" (sic), accompanied by a stellar cast of studio helpers including Mundell Lowe (guitar), Jerry Murad (harmonica), and Harry Breuer (percussion). There is so much percussion, in fact, that at times this sounds like "jungle exotica" gone to outer space! Special effects are attributed to Attilio J. Macero. Song selections include "Forbidden Planet," "The Unknown," "The Moon Is Low," and "Far Away." The industrial sounding arrangement on the latter is referred to in the liner notes as a "tuned motorboat." The effect laden "Night On Bald Mountain," featuring screams by vocalist Lois Hunt and electric guitar by Lowe, is another highlight. Released on Columbia Records, 1960.

A rare and sought after private press that came out of the small but heady scene of 1970s Milwaukee. Led by Jim Spencer - who was a major player in the Wisconsin underground both as a musician and a writer/publisher of counterculture magazines, including Freek - Major Arcana released this lone LP in 1975. Generating comparisons to Pearls Before Swine and, of course, the man himself, Bob Dylan, Major Arcana benefits from subtle musicianship and arrangements, and quality songwriting. Covering ground from folk, to hippie tinged pop, to jazz, to blues-rock, the album is held together by Spencer's distinct voice and poetic spirit. A classic piece of the 1970s hippie underground that fetches serious coin at auction is available again for less than an arm and a leg.

In 1991 LOCUST FUDGE was founded by Schneider (a.k.a. Dirk Dresselhaus of Schneider TM, Hip Young Things, Mr. Schmuck's Farm, Angel etc.) and Krite (a.k.a. Christopher Uhe of Speed Niggs, Sharon Stoned, Floor, Mondo Fumatore etc.). The two of them had met on different occasions when both of their rather noisy indie rock outfits HIP YOUNG THINGS and SPEED NIGGS appeared on the same bill. Pretty soon they decided to play acoustic versions of their bands' semi-hits to ignorant audiences of passers-by on the streets of Schneider's home town Bielefeld. What started as a good reason to hang out and have a couple of drinks together soon draw the attention of Reinhard Holstein, CEO of Glitterhouse Records, a fine German company that was operating the European business for Seattle's Sub Pop label, home to the likes of Nirvana, Mudhoney and others who were just about to define a new hype soon to be called Grunge. Holstein encouraged LOCUST FUDGE to record an album for his label. Their debut album "Flush" was released in 1992, receiving widespread media coverage all over Europe. After touring as a duo for quite a while, Schneider and Krite recorded their ground-breaking follow-up ,Royal Flush" in 1994, a milestone of lofi-glam-folk to this very day. The album's delicate arrangements demanded a somewhat bigger live sound, and thus the 5-piece LOCUST FUDGE BAND was formed to go on the road with the new material. After extensive touring throughout Europe LOCUST FUDGE released the EP "Business Express" in 1996. A year later Schneider and Krite decided to kick back a little;
LOCUST FUDGE have been pretty lazy ever since. Although they never split up (in fact, they decided to observe the market instead of getting involved), there seems to have been very little activity over the last decade, the last vital sign being a song entitled "Cannibal Man", their contribution to "Perverted by Mark E. - A Tribute to The Fall". In December 2014 Bielefeld based record Label Kapitän Platte will release "Flush" and "Royal flush" as a double-LP on vinyl for the first time ever. Comes in a special-gatefold-sleeve with lot's of liner-notes.

The 4 songs offer a wide variety of styles, from RnB to Psyche to Powerpop, all with French Boutik's unique blend of male/female vocals, drenching harmonies and ironic and persuasive French and English lyrics, accompanied by aggressive guitar and drums and perculating keyboard sounds. The title track Mieux Comme Ca sees the band venturing into more aggressive Powerpop territory with an anti-Franglais anthem ("c'est ta life" - please make it stop!). That is backed on Face B by the one English composition, End of the Line, a psychedelic early morning commute to distant Paris suburbs. Etron Fou Leloublan (French for "Crazy Shit, The White Wolf" or "Mad Shit, the White Wolf"[nb 1]), also known as EFL, were a French avant-rock band founded in 1973 by actor and saxophonist Chris Chanet. They recorded five studio albums between 1976 and 1985, and released a live album, En Public Aux Etats-Unis d'Amérique recorded during a tour of the United States in 1979. Etron Fou Leloublan were best known as one of the five original Rock in Opposition (RIO) bands that performed at the first RIO festival in London in March 1978.

Limited edition to 500 copies, 180g vinyl Brighton based four piece The Depressions were originally formed in their south coast home town as early as 1975 when, under the name of Tongue, they gigged solidly around their local area playing mainly Small Faces and Who covers. They changed their name to The Depressions and began to concentrate their efforts on their own songwriting abilities after the first punk impact in 1977. The East Sussex based Pebble Beach Production company, run by future Bad Manners manager Andy Cowan-Martin, picked up on the band and as well as finding then gigs also brought then to the attention of ex- Animals bassist and former Jimi Hendrix / Slade manager Chas Chandler who, after seeing them at a gig in Brighton, signed The Depressions for his Barn label. In fact Barnard and Smith celebrated the signing by scrawling the band's name with spray paint cross some prominent walls in Brighton for which they were both arrested and fined 100 pounds! The LP was released in 1978, first LP where they mixed their patented punk with rock and those power-pop/ pub-rock moments. However, it was whilst supporting The Vibrators on a UK tour to promote the LP that tragedy struck the band with the death of a fan during the last number of their set at Preston Poly. A fight broke out between two rival sets of football supporters leaving a 22 year old dead of head injuries. The national press had a field day covering the "Punk riot" and all the adverse publicity led to the band losing a lot of gigs and the departure of the guitarist Smith.
