The songs are from all over the place: The bristling, fluent action around the neck on Still Ain’t Got No Home - a song he wrote when returning east from his long sojourn in California - evokes a traveling energy, motoring down the road in a way that never really ends. This is one of Mark’s favourites of all that he’s written and it is clear why: the golden, eternal promise of the guitar is ebulliently, transcendently delivered. Look Blue Go Purple rose, as so many Dunedin groups of the time did, from the roil of post-punk activity in the early 1980s. They were friends with, and sometimes girlfriends of, prominent members of the rising new groups. "[It was] an amazing pool of amazing people who just played music. And welcomed anyone who wanted to play music. We were a social group as well," LBGP bass player Kathy Bull (now Francisca Griffin) told Auckland student radio station 95bFM in 2012. An early shuffling of the pack saw Lesley Paris drumming with The Neanics and Craven A's with boyfriend Terry Moore, David Kilgour and Peter Gutteridge. Along with his rival, Cornell Campbell, Johnny Clarke was one of the most esteemed singers of the roots reggae era. Having grown up next door to a popular sound system on Waltham Park Road in western Kingston, Clarke’s early fascination with music led him to hang out at Studio One with Jacob Miller while still at school. He then made the rounds of talent shows with Barry Brown, Sugar Minott and the Diamonds, which led to a debut recording in 1973, for the pianist Glen Stair, which remains unreleased. An early effort for Clancy Eccles, God Made The Sea And Sun, was not promoted properly, though Everyday Wondering, for Rupie Edwards, impacted in Britain;
Golden Snake for Stamma Houghton and a cover of Smokey Robinson’s You Really Got A Hold On Me for Glen Brown were also false starts. The breakthrough finally came in 1975 when Clarke linked with Bunny Lee, who had him voice the Rastafari landmark None Shall Escape The Judgement (written by Earl Zero, who failed to muster a credible take), which kick-started the Flying Cymbal craze. Clarke’s resultant debut album, Enter Into His Gates With Praise, mixed hard-hitting Rastafari devotional material with sympathetic cover versions of classics by the likes of the Paragons, Slim Smith and Delroy Wilson, along with a few reggae renditions of some vintage American R&B

Guantanamo Baywatch's new album Desert Center opens with "Conquistador", an instrumental track displaying enough fretboard savvy and fiery twang to make The Challengers proud. But any notion that Guantanamo Baywatch is strictly adhering to one facet of rock n' roll's classic era is dispelled by the soulful swagger and unabashed pop of "Neglect". It's an inadvertent juxtaposition maintained through the entirety of Desert Center, with blazing instrumental nuggets like "The Scavenger" alternating with the proto-grunge and golden oldies mash-up of a track like "Blame Myself." Like their 2015 album Darlingâ?Ý It's Too Late, Desert Center was primarily tracked in Atlanta at Living Room Recording with Justin McNeight and Ed Rawls, with Jason Powell doing the bulk of the guitar tracks on his own at Jungle Muscle Studios. While Guantanamo Baywatch initially made a name for themselves with their early blown-out recordings, Desert Center retains the raw aesthetics of a Hasil Adkins single, but has the added heft and thump afforded by a modern studio. This balance is perhaps best captured on their lead single "Video", where bassist Chevelle Wiseman drives the tune with a thick, throbbing riff while drummer Chris Scott ruthlessly pounds his kit with a crashing clarity guaranteed to please even the most snobby analog audiophile.

Tom Schwoll. "Es war Mord" is a band from Berlin with two guitars, bass, drums and of course a singer. Es war Mord singing in German. The texts are often more phonetic arbitrariness than poetry. Es war Mord playing unpredictable bulky somber punk with many rhythm changes. The tonic keynote is almost always based on E minor, since it is the darkest and deepest chord you can play on a normally tuned guitar. Es war Mord finished a LP called "Unter Kannibalen", the original title "Erinnerungen des Agenten, der aus Notwehr mit den Kannibalen knutschte" was cut by the band because it was too long but although good. The artwork is the print of a woodcut with the title "Es lebe das 21. Jahrhundert " and is by Fritz Ebeling, a berlin artist and graduate student of Schmidt Rottluff, who died in 2011. Es war Mord are: Sepp, Dietmar, Markus, Tom and Stunk. Two brothers songwriters - composers: Mahefa (bass) and Eddy (vocals). Two youngsters in their prime, brought up listening to their music lover of a father's collection of vinyl records (The Kinks, The Kingsmen, The Vines, Singapore Sling.) and well into the stage introduction. The only issue is that rock'n'roll, although considered standard, is nowhere near as loved in Madagascar as heavy metal and folkloric rock. Even worse, the style is banned. Hence, the feeling of survival even for the genre. Eddy had the brilliant idea for the band back in 2011 (in the toilet - as you do!) while listening to the 7 am program of Jacqueline Taïeb. Boom! As simple as that. They found their style mixing daily narration with minimalistic orchestration. And their name "the dizzy brains" was inspired by Jacques Dutronc and Serge Gainsbourg (whom they adore) mixing irony and carelessness in attitude. In fact, they borrowed "les cactus" by Dutronc and made it their own filled with loads of thorns. Their biggest influence, however, remain The Sonics, whose "Louie Louie" and "Have Love with Travel" was translated in Malagasy and is in their first EP called "Môla kely" (2013, No Comment) describing easy girls from an album called "little Bitch" . You read it right . Provocation, one would easily describe it. Their main preoccupations remain (as their generation's) money, the future, friends (girlfriends) . and a political system that is fast becoming the enemy. But being a "punk" band has never been tempting to them. The constant feeling of rejection made them switch and that feeling is forging their character as a band, shaping attitude and beliefs. Choosing between being the sheep or the wolf. They have made their mark.

The Fickle Finger Of Fate marks Crover's first calculated, full length solo effort. But let's be clear: this is not a drum record. The album features a perplexingly diverse batch of songs that recall the best moments of the Melvins catalog. With 90% of all instruments played by Crover, and recorded by longtime engineer Toshi Kasai, the album is sure to tickle the temporal lobes of Melvins devotees. Sonically, the album ranges from slightly microwaved heaviness, to surprisingly chill Pink Floyd-tinged ballads, to Max Roach-meets-Throbbing-Gristle drum experimentations, to good old fashioned Andy Kaufman-style head-fuckery. Though consistently otherworldly, The Fickle Finger Of Fate is surprisingly approachableâ?? dare we say, catchy. But even at it's most anthemic, you won't be able to shake the feeling that a sinister ambience is hovering just beneath the surface.

In California by name, in California by nature. You'll struggle to find 14 songs more drenched in lazy West Coast sunshine than Compton and Batteau's only album (recorded in 1971 before promptly falling into the abyss of wonderful, overlooked recordings). Fans of Gene Clark, John Phillips, Fraser &
Debolt and the like will be well served here, with many of the tracks leaning towards the cowboy balladry these artists share. Completing the line-up with the likes of Randy Meisner (The Eagles, Poco) and Jim Messina (Loggins and Messina, Buffalo Springfield) "In California" understandably has an additional proto-yacht rock feel, evoking "Late For The Sky" era Jackson Browne - though it's the more up-tempo offerings that really showcase the duo's ability to write a tune. Album highlight "Homesick Kid" is the perfect example of the addictive, melody-led songwriting which really should have earned them stardom, while "Honeysuckle" and "Essa Vanessa" bring texture in the form of immaculately orchestrated percussion and additional instrumentation (harpsichord, cowbell). On these occasions the album veers magnificently towards the psychedelic, bringing to mind The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. "Compton And Batteau In California remains enthused about in quiet corners. It's a forgotten piece of baroque folk caught in time;

There are rays of youth beaming through this music, but they never outshine a kind of maturity that betrays the fact that Sallee was just 22 years old when 50 Million was made. After college she took a job as a waitress in Yellowstone as an exercise in solitude and independence. With the money she saved there, she took a transformative journey via Greyhound to explore the West Coast before returning to Alabama where she would record her debut album in her parents' basement. 50 Million puts us in the seat right next to Sallee where we can feel the warm West Coast light through the window, the bus route charting the lines between our youth, and our delayed future. Sallee's gift lies in pitting the familiar against the unexpected with a delicate assuredness, never compromising the one for the other. These kinds of debuts can sometimes feel like an over-promise of what is to come, but in the case of Caroline Says there's clearly plenty more thread to be unraveled. It'll be a pleasure to see where the next bus ride takes us.

Trevor George Smith Jr. (born May 20, 1972), better known by his stage name Busta Rhymes, is an American rapper, actor, record producer and record executive. Chuck D of Public Enemy gave him the moniker Busta Rhymes, after NFL wide receiver George "Buster" Rhymes. He is widely known for his outlandish style and fashion sense depicted in several highly innovative music videos as well as his intricate rhyming technique, rapping at a high rate of speed with heavy use of internal rhyme and half rhyme, and to date has received 11 Grammy Award nominations for his musical work. In 2012, The Source placed him on their list of the Top 50 Lyricists of All Time. MTV has called him "one of hip-hop's greatest visual artists." Busta Rhymes was an original member of Leaders of the New School. He later went on and founded the record label Conglomerate (initially Flipmode Entertainment) and production crew The Conglomerate (formerly Flipmode Squad). In November 2011, Busta Rhymes signed a deal with Cash Money Records. On July 23, 2014, Busta Rhymes announced that he left Cash Money Records due to creative differences and was no longer on Republic. Roots reggae vocalist Barry Brown had a very distinctive singing style. His most obvious role model was the fragile tenor of Horace Andy, but Brown gave his delivery further distinctiveness with a range of wordless slurs, some of which were doubtless inspired by the creatures of the animal kingdom. As with his friend and fellow west Kingston resident, Johnny Clarke, Brown got his start in the many talent shows that were regularly held in the downtown Kingston area, and also got early experience on west Kingston sound systems such as Tape Tone, which gave rise to Barrington Levy, Trinstan Palmer, Sammy Dread, and Rod Taylor among others;
Taylor and Brown even had a short-lived duo called The Aliens for a time. Such was his widespread popularity that several different producers all claimed to have been the first to capture his voice on tape, but it is undeniable that Bunny Lee was the first to bring Brown to prominence through the outstanding 1978 hit, Step It Up Youthman, an optimistic meditation on the merits of self-determination, which led to this popular debut album of the same name;
as with Johnny Clarke’s Enter Into His Gates With Praise, the Step It Up Youthman LP mixed hard-hitting songs of Rastafari devotion with well-executed cover tunes
