Nine Suns, One Morning’ is the third album from The Silence since their formation in Tokyo in July of 2014. The Silence transpose ecstatic moments from the rock and roll dreamscape into all-new, living music. ‘Nine Suns, One Morning’ is one of the most explosive, far-ranging albums you could hope to hear in 2016. The Silence employ a great variety of instruments with tremendous discipline, always in service of the songs, which share a goal of finding new lines of expression, no matter where the starting point. While ‘Nine Suns, One Morning’ is a fully-developed album of modern rock and roll that moves fluidly between all styles of music, many listeners are still unaware of The Silence, who have yet to tour outside of Japan but are anxious to do so. Masaki Batoh is the leader of the group, which he formed after dissolving the legendary Ghost in 2014. Forming the sound of The Silence, Batoh draws upon the indigenous and the mysterious aspects of the spiritual world, as exemplified by Western rock, blues and British traditional music. He is supported in his endeavour by keyboardist and Bulgarian Tambula player (and original Ghost member) Kazuo Ogino, jazz saxophonist Ryuichi Yoshida, bassist Jan Stigter and drummer Futoshi Okano (Subvert Blaze, Hijokaidan). These musicians bring together a combined understanding of different values of music, literature, film, culture, psychology, philosophy and the spirit world that informs and expands everything they play together as they work to transcend the illusions of music that have existed until now. Previous album ‘Hark The Silence’ emphasized the solvent quality of open air and the liquidity of free-flowing improvisation from which songs might eventually appear. ‘Nine Suns, One Morning’ departs from the brooding gothic skies under which ‘Hark the Silence’s slow-boiling jams unfolded, revisiting the song-based fixation that marked The Silence’s debut album. The difference this time is that the deep space accessed on ‘Hark The Silence’ strikes into the new songs, infusing them with wider reach and greater cosmic power than before. The song orientation of ‘Nine Suns, One Morning’ is further expressed by the inclusion of two cover versions. ‘Louie Louie’, the most elemental of rock songs, is shaken violently in best Silence fashion, while ‘No Expectations’ is given a gossamer gospel treatment. From honking sax to jazz time signatures to squalling psychedelic guitars, The Silence celebrate the transformative fusions of rock and roll music with everything that they do.

Sweet Creature is an exciting new hard rock band fronted by Martin Sweet, best known as lead guitarist for Swedish sleaze rockers CRASHDIET. BACKGROUND: Martin Sweet has been a member of CRASHDIET for over a decade with 4 albums and extensive global touring under his belt. Linus, a studio technician and death metal guitarist, has a long history of writing and recording with Martin. Sweet Creature was originally an experiment that began in 2014 with the goal of recording a simple four-song EP. The project, however, was so gratifying for the two that the decision to make an album and form a new band was inevitable.

With his latest record, Notwist singer & guitar player, film soundtracker and label boss Markus Acher, aka Rayon, offers up a sparse, intoxicating LP of instrumentals. As the name suggests, the spaces between notes here are treated with as much gravity as the notes themselves – arpeggios spiralling upwards, conflicting yet interlocking in a dizzying overlap of time signatures. An obvious reference point is Javanese gamelan, with its ensemble of hand-beaten metallophones and bamboo flutes, pulling in all directions at once and yet, like a starling murmuration, maintaining shape as one, rippling whole. Eschewing electronic equipment, the title track sees marimbaphone, piano and vibraphone appearing to mimic a delay pedal, giving the effect of rain falling with odd regiment into a singing bowl. This melancholy but weirdly uplifting arrangement surfaces throughout the record, punctuated by mossy synth hums and subterranean rustling. Like much of Rayon’s work, “A Beat of Silence” beams across like a soundtrack for some forgotten documentary: dusty archive footage of cities being built and eroded in time-lapse seeming to flicker across the screen. Closing tracks “To the Quiet”, a tentative, almost impossibly fragile ballad, and “Kona”, a stretched and mangled wash of orchestral drone akin to Plinth or Edmund Finnis, leave the listener fully enveloped, as this incredibly sensitive work draws to a close. A British export success story, hard rock band Voodoo Vegas has announced details of their second album. Titled 'Freak Show Candy Floss' (out 4th November via PHD), VOODOO VEGAS new release features ten modern rock tracks, oozing showmanship and demonstrating just how far the band has come since the release of 2013's debut album 'The Rise Of Jimmy Silver' and last year's EP 'Hypnotise'. There's no doubt this new album by VOODOO VEGAS rocks hard, whilst maintaining its roots in real life, wax lyrical content on all songs, like the powerful swagger of 'Backstabber', to the venomous, bluesy bite of 'Poison', whilst the sublime acoustic ballad 'Sleeping In The Rain' tackles the emotional subject matter of homelessness. With lead track 'Killing Joke', the band's vision of a sick twisted society (Nobody's laughing, they're smiling through the pain) will soon be realised, courtesy of a new music video. Final track on the album 'Walk Away' is the heaviest song the band has put to record and showcases how well Voodoo Vegas mix the light and shade of rock. Recorded at Los Rosales Studios in Moralzarzal, Spain, 'Freak Show Candy Floss' was engineered and produced by Guillermo Will Maya (The Answer). 'Freak Show Candy Floss' is the first music written entirely with the new Voodoo Vegas line up. Where some bands find it hard to write their sophomore album, Voodoo Vegas had a tone of energy going into the writing of this album and it didn't feel like writing our second album, it felt like this was our first. Working with Will again (Maya produced last year's 'Hypnotise' EP, which featured the debut of this current line up) was a no brainer. The man has helped us craft our best work yet and we're all looking forward to what happens next, says the band

Third World Pyramid is the first album that was fully recorded & produced at Anton's new Cobra Studio in Berlin . It is the 15th full length release from the Brian Jonestown Massacre recorded from early 2016. Featuring Ricky Maymi, Dan Allaire, Joel Gion, Collin Hegna & Ryan Van Kriedt from the band. Also Emil Nikolaisen from the Norwegian band Serena-Maneesh joins BJM on this album, plus vocal performance Tess Parks and Katy Lane. Anton Newcombe has been a very busy man these past two years, kicking off with the critically acclaimed Brian Jonestown Massacre album 'Revelation' in May 2014. After a successful UK and European tour, the BJM followed this up with the '+-'EP (Nov 2014). 2015 saw the release of 'Musique de film imaginé' (April);
an imaginary film soundtrack album featuring the track 'Bonbon' which has, ironically, been used in 'Dheepan';
the Palme D'or winner at Cannes film festival 2015. In June, Anton and Tess Parks embarked on a well received tour of the UK and Europe to support the release of 'I Declare Nothing'. Anton finished the year with a BJM mini-album release entitled 'Mini-Album Thingy Wingy'. The band have been touring the world since November 2015, playing Australia, New Zealand, and then in 2016 USA , Canada & Europe. They will play Desert Daze at Joshua Tree National Park in October and finish their tour in South America playing Argentina and Chile in November.

Baby Woodrose is an iconic band on the Danish psych scene who released their debut album Blows Your Mind back in 2001. Long before psychedelic music had a revival frontman Lorenzo Woodrose and his band came up with their own mix of psych, garage and stoner rock which they have refined during the years. The new album is called Freedom and is due out September 16th 2016 on Bad Afro Records. Freedom is the 7th album by Baby Woodrose and is released more than four years after the previous album Third Eye Surgery came out in 2012. In the meantime Lorenzo has been busy with his other band Spids Nogenhat who gained a lot of popularity in Denmark and won two Danish Grammies for the album "Kommer Med Fred". Best rock album of the year and Best live band of the year. The title Freedom reflects on the current state of our society and how it affects us all. Consciously or not. The album introduces the modern slave song. Lorenzo Woodrose: "The inspiration for the album came from the title track, a cover we have been playing around with for about a year. Mostly known for the version Richie Havens improvised on Woodstock in 1969, it is actually a much older song, known as a gospel tune, a negro spiritual or a "slave song". This expression gave me the idea to write modern day slave songs, so all the songs on the new album deal with mind control, brainwash, hamster wheels, slavery and oppression". All Baby Woodrose albums have a different vibe and this time there has been an analogue approach to recording the nine songs. The whole album is recorded and mixed on tape, givng it a very rockband live-in-the-studio type of feel. This means no cut and paste and a minimal amount of overdubs. The album is produced by Anders Onsberg and Baby Woodrose in the STC studio in Copenhagen and mastered by Flemming Rasmussen at Sweet Silence.
