First time vinyl issue of key works from the Belgian artist-musician Moniek Darge. Following a deep-excavation of the Logos archives London's Horn of Plenty presents 'Bratschebraut' - four works utilising prepared violin, electronics, tapes, and voice. These recordings are from the same era as Moniek's classic 'Sounds of Sacred Places' LP. 'Bratschebraut' extends the story of Moniek's work during this period: playful, intimate, raw, and quite unique. Although they were recorded across a seven year period and were not intended to sit together, the music on 'Bratschebraut', seen retrospectively, captures a pivotal era in Moniek's artistic development. A period that saw her challenge, destroy, then create anew. 'Bratschebraut' both a significant addition to Moniek's catalogue and an essential historical document. 'Bratschebraut' comes in an edition of 300 on beautiful red vinyl, housed in a full-colour sleeve with a 28-page booklet containing artist's notes, previously unpublished photos, and details from the original graphic score for ManMo.

Lucrecia Dalt is a Colombian recording artist, songwriter, and producer. After studying civil engineering in Colombia, Dalt worked at a geo-technical company for two years and has since lived in Barcelona and Berlin, where she currently resides. She has released six solo albums and has collaborated with musicians Aaron Dilloway, Jan Jelinek, and Gudrun Gut, to name a few. No era sólida is Dalt's seventh solo record, and her second on RVNG Intl., following the release of 2018's Anticlines. No era sólida is an introspective venture into visceral sonic terrain, as Dalt sets out to capture the moment when one becomes pure sound. The album observes a transition in Dalt herself through the emergence of an alternate ego / state of self named Lia. Each song identifies a different state experienced by Lia, opening with Disuelta (`dissolved') and transforming through pieces such as Seca (`to be dry'), Ser boca (`to be mouth'), Espesa (`thick'). Lia's poetic reflections on the panspermia echo her origins, having come from some other ether. As a lifeform seeded through sound, the very essence of Lia is embodied in the exploratory instincts of her creator Lucrecia Dalt, an artist whose innate sonar system traces the far reaches of musical experimentation.

Like Psychic TV before them, Crack Cloud have a philosophy, and one that they are not afraid to wear on their sleeves. Listening to this song or watching its accompanying self-directed video is a truly spiritual experience, and in its building, jubilant movement it offers a glimpse of Crack Cloud’s most vital mes- sage: using community to turn adversity into hope. This isn’t just bravado; its a story born of deep, personal experience. Crack Cloud operate on the frontline of Canada’s out-of-control opiate crisis, mobilising and organizing in Vancou- ver’s harm reduction programmes. The group themselves have had their fair share of trauma, and the collective offers its members a vital vehicle for rehabilitation and recovery. Technical demands aside, intellectual depth aside, the best Death Metal is still the one that just bangs into your face. And what the very early Death, Massacre, Repulsion, Master and consorts were for the US scene, namely the initial spark of a whole wave of death music, is Carnage for Sweden. Personal cross-references lead to Carbonized, Entombed, Carcass, Arch Enemy, but especially Dismember. And with them there is also the biggest stylistic overlap. Some pieces are even very old Dismember ideas due to the typical Swedish inbreeding. Unfortunately, the bunch only caught up with one single album, which was released in 1990. Dark Recollections caused quite a stir in the underground. Entombed and also Dismember were commercially ahead with their debuts, because Carnage had already disbanded at the time of the release after guitarist Michael Amott was poached by Carcass. But that doesn't diminish the importance or the pleasure of Dark Recollections, especially since the re-release has the two infernal demos of the band and several rough mixes on board. Check them out, the root of all evil. --Jan Jaedike Amazon.com With only two demos and one album, Carnage managed to fascinate whole armies of death metal disciples at that time, who even today, at the mere mention of the band name, fall reverently to their knees. Stylistically the band can be compared to Dismember, which is hardly surprising, since 3/5 of the line-up continued their career with Dismember later on. Dark Recollections was first released in 1990 as a split CD with the Norwegians of Cadaver, but in the last years it developed more and more to a sought-after rarity, so that this re-release makes sense. Especially since the regular longplayer was enriched by no less than eight bonus tracks, which cover the whole musical work of the Swedes in their demo phase. Furthermore the booklet was enhanced by liner notes, various old band photos, flyers and reproductions of the two demo covers. Bogart has been a fixture in the West Coast queer and punk art scenes since the early 2000s when he arrived in Oakland and joined the electropop group Gravy Train!!!!. Eternal's Kelsonic Studios in Australia. The writing sessions for the self-titled were largely helmed by Miranda and Davis, with Miranda providing the riffs and Davis cementing the arrangements. While all three songs from Through Divine Rite made the jump to the self-titled album ("Trampled into the Earth," "Through Divine Rite" and "Flametongue"), the remainder of the songs were created through trial-and-error. Davis, admittedly, is a stickler for arrangements and will often create multiple versions of the same song, while Pinion added her flavor by supplying song ideas and vocal lines written on the piano. This unorthodox way of writing paid off in the end: Stygian Crown emerged with a batch of songs that each bears their own identity but are unmistakably crushing and epic. Pinion shouldered the lyric writing load, detailing myths from different cultures, namely "Devour the Dead," which is about the Egyptian goddess Ammit, while "Two Coins for the Ferryman" recalls Charon, the boatman who took the dead across the river Styx. Her vocals - one of the defining traits of Stygian Crown - work majestically between the band's boulder-sized riffs and powerful bottom-end, resonating on album opener "Up from the Depths" and "When Old Gods Die." A sterling, heaving album capable of moving heaven and earth, Stygian Crown's self-titled debut is a masterclass in songwriting and unbridled heaviness. Doomination awaits!

Attick Demons is a Classic Heavy Metal band formed in 1996 in Lisbon, Portugal. They played with W.A.S.P., Moonspell, Overkill, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Hammerfall, Sabaton, U.D.O, Ensiferum, Paul Di´Anno just to name a few. With "Daytime Stories, Nightmare Tales" they wanted to experiment with other musical territories, with a more contemporary sound, using heavier tunes. The lyrics of the album talk mostly about the occult and portuguese history.The band also added some traditional portuguese instruments giving an almost middle age and epic atmosphere. Attick Demons craft a great NWOBH, fresh sounding album.

Ant Orange returns to Karaoke Kalk with the album ûYou're Super In Diagonalë. Following up on three EPs between 2015 and 2018 for the Berlin-based label as well as a 12" single with drum'n'bass derivatives last year, the British producer again operates at the crossroads of laid-back house, experimental hip hop and a bass-heavy, abstract minimalism that hints at his background in UK garage and other strains of the hardcore continuum. Both physically moving and intellectually challenging, Ant Orange's music has always found a comfortable niche between different genres and styles. Working with short vocal snippets, jazz elements and a diverse array of rhythms, his tracks open up small worlds full of endearing details and thrilling dynamics. Nine of those worlds - seven on the vinyl version of the album - form the sonic cosmos that is ûYou're Super In Diagonal.ë Even in Ant Orange's unique and multi-faceted discography, it is an extraordinarily lush and welcoming album. The opener already sets the mood with shimmering ambient textures, the feverish shivers of a hi-hat and a broken beat that serves as the perfect foundation for the warm and minimalistic bass line that enters the picture around the two minute mark. The aptly named ûFlutterë already encapsulates everything that makes ûYou're Super In Diagonalë the marvelous record it is: Ant Orange's sound is based on the playful interplay of discrete elements. >From the jungle echoes on ûMonogomeë to the throbbing bass on tracks like ûCrackerë or ûAll Inë and the slick deep house grooves of ûWe'll Call You,ë the producer's choices thus lead to odd and unusual, but always cordial and inviting end results. They refer to a variety of genres from jazz to grime and IDM, but always retain their specificity.

In 2000, Aesop Rock released his first official album, Float, following his steady ascent in the underground from two previous releases, the collection of works CD of lore, Music For Earthworms (1997), and the Appleseed EP (1999). And, while every album Aesop has done since then has captured his continual evolution as both a producer and a writer, Float was undeniably exceptional in its own right. For one, there was something impacting about a full-length album, 20 tracks deep, that never had any singles. Every track only existed as part of the album experience. That in mind, the album's production is split nearly in half between Aesop Rock and longtime collaborator and good friend, Blockhead, as well as one offering from Omega One, the Reggae-vibed "Skip Town". The album's production largely seems to have one collective goal, to immediately capture the intended mood, luring the listener in and leaving them attentive and prepared for the carefully crafted accompanying lyricism. Lyrics in mind, Aesop Rock is clearly the star of the record, but the few guest appearances, strategically spread throughout the album, are either the result of great foresight or unavoidable synergyâÇ"perhaps bothâÇ"as Slug (of Atmosphere), Vast Aire (of Cannibal Ox), and Dose One were all right in the midst, or directly on the verge, of breakthrough career moments of their own around the same time they were featured on Float. As for Aesop, the album finds him diving deep into his intricate, visually descriptive and emotionally riveting writing style, which has only gotten more vigorous and diverse over time. His delivery feels settled into the hints of urgency, as if he is well aware that the journey and challenges, as well as triumphs, that he shall face are arduous and plentiful. Twenty years after its debut, Float is a time capsule of an artist on the brink of fully tapping into creative freedom, while the industry was simultaneously in the middle of a notable shift, which still remains a powerful statement on its own, decades later. To celebrate, Rhymesayers is re-releasing Float on 2xLP vinyl, available in three different, limited edition colorways!

12" vinyl with download code and lyrics insert. "Making this record was a joy," says Steven Adams of his latest album with his band the French Drops. He even let the positive mood around the making of it influence its title. "I love making records but sometimes time, money, or people - including me - fuck up my enjoyment of the process. So this time I kept saying to myself 'keep it light' whenever I was making decisions." The buoyant and relaxed mood can be heard across the album in its gloriously skipping tones, as it traverses across indie, pop, alt-rock and more tender acoustic and folk-leaning moments. It's a craft that Adams has been honing for years as the lead figure in outfits such as The Broken Family Band and Singing Adams, so much so that by now it oozes out of him with a seamless grace. Adams' aim was clear with this record. "I wanted to make a super personal, light-hearted and upbeat record," he says. "I wanted to do the whole write about what you know thing and keep it as light as possible." The lightness of the album was a guiding principle but it wasn't a rule set in stone, as Adams soon found out the deeper he plunged into himself. "We had a running joke about how we were making an album called Keep it Light that is full of songs about racists and panic attacks and existential angst," he says. "But it does you good to get that stuff out. Writing songs and making records keeps me sane." The album is one as full of joy and beauty as it is ink black humour and caustic revelation. On the gorgeous shuffle of "Oh Dear" - recalling the kind of stripped back beauty of Yo La Tengo at their finest - Adams sings: "and true love will not find you in the end." A knowing nod and a wink to Daniel Johnston's earnest refrain that indeed true love will find you in the end. It's such moments that fill the album with equal parts weight and lightness, a smart touch delivered with a deft hand. Of the broad range of the album and its wide-spanning lyrical content Adams simply says: "the upbeat stuff is pretty upbeat and the darker stuff is pretty dark, but it's all still with some humour." Perhaps the song that best encapsulates this split between the light and the dark and the funny and the personal is "My Brother, the Racist" a self explanatory song that skips along with an infectious groove as Adams sings about, well, his racist brother. It unfurls in an intimate manner that recalls the kind of deeply personal allure of Sun Kill Moon's Benji. "It's an awkward thing to sing about, but it was the right thing to do," he reflects. "I've written about British racism before, but never this close to home." Recorded at Soup by Simon Trought and with band members Laurie Earle, Daniel Fordham, David Stewart and Michael Wood, this is the first time Adams has worked in such a harmonious and in sync way. "This is the first record I've made with the band all playing in one room, getting everything down at once," he says. "We played live with all of us on the floor, and it came together really quickly. But we still gave ourselves time to experiment and do fun stuff all over it. This combination of allowing things to be light, not overstressing, the harmony of the group, and the seamless knack of Adams' songwriting has resulted in a truly special record. "I'm usually sick of a record by the time it's mixed and I don't get much of a kick out of hearing my own stuff, but this one's different," he says. "I know I sound like a wanker saying this but this is the best record I've ever made."
